This band seems to have had more lineup changes than the Drifters or the Raiders! In retrospect, Parsons was not in the band that long (compared to Rick Roberts or Sneaky Pete), but he certainly added to the country influence of the group. Chris Hillman deserves more credit as a leader and musician with the FBB. Unfortunately, we can expect another incarnation of the band at any moment! Nevertheless, the FBB defined country-rock before Poco, the Eagles or anyone else!

The question really is whether alt-country is Rock and Roll. Parsons was hugely influential. There would be no Lucinda Williams, no Steve Earle, No Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt/Wilco. There may not have even been The Eagles. To me alt-country is more rock and roll than country.

Biggest snubs have to be Gram Parsons and Black Sabbath, we're talking about the major influence of a genre within 15% of rock music

Anything involving Gram Parsons gets in. Gram Parsons is the King of Country Rock!

I am very surprised both The Burrito Brothers and Gram were not inducted the year the very first year they became eligible in 1994 & 1997. They have influenced so many bands including The Stones.
