This woman began as a folk-rock singer in the 1960's. She was the #1 selling female artist in the 1970's. She was on the cover of every magazine as the "queen of rock" She made rock music accessible for women which had that time been defined by girl groups and hot lick blues. She was Rock when rock had different standards for women. She paved the way for the the solo female singers today. She only became lite and contemp pop in her later years as she got older. This women deserves to be inducted into the hall. Very influential singer...

She deserves to be inducted, she along with Olivia Newton-John and Helen Reddy were the most successful female vocalists of the 1970's. All three should be inducted!

snuff not a chance

One of the top 10 female vocalists of the first 40 years of RR. Lots of covers, but a lot of great originals.
abacab 01/19/2006
While she rarely (never?) wrote her own stuff, Ronstandt had few equals in terms of pure vocal talent. In many cases her cover was better than the original, such as "Ooh Baby Baby" and "Blue Bayou." I wouldn't say she definitely deserves induction, but she's underrated.

She is that brave and unique in exploring different music.

It's so easy to forget about being in the R&RHoF, Linda. She's a country star.
BGood 11/08/2005
The most innovative and versatile female vocalist of the last 40 years. She was the #1 female artist of the 70s and the poster child for Country Rock. Don Henley and Glenn Frey were a part of her band leading to the already inducted Eagles. She boosted the careers of Jackson Browne, Warren Zevon, Karla Bonoff and many others when she recorded their songs. Brave enough and talented enough to record everything from New Wave to Opera. It is a travesty that she hasn't been inducted.

She should have been a lock. No, she doesn't write her own stuff, but neither did Diana Ross and the Supremes or alot of other acts from Motown or the Brillstein Building eras. All her albums from Heart Like a Wheel through Mad Love, she had six straight multi-platinum albums plus 2 Greatest Hits collections. And while she may not rock like Janis Joplin, she was the face of Women in Rock through the 1970s. Sadly, her forays into Broadway, standards and Mexican have probably sealed her fate

Should have been in the Hall 10 years ago. Her output from 1970 -1980 defined Country Rock.

THE voice.
ronstadtfanaz 10/25/2005
Come on. She held the title Queen of Rock in the 1970's; had dozens of hits and inspired countless other recording artists that came after her. Few if any could ROCK like Linda could. She is a trailblazer. The fact that she can't be pigeonholed into one category should not exclude her from the Hall of Fame. In my opinion, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame won't become legit until Linda has been included.
thylacine 09/23/2005
I think it's sort of insulting that her backing band (the Eagles) got in years ago and she still is waiting at the back of the bus with Carly Simon, Pat Benetar, Blondie, Abba and the GO-Go's!
FuzzyJ 09/23/2005
Definitely due!!

The Queen of Tucson had her moments that for sure but she ended up getting way too sappy for my tastes.

Great voice with no writing talent.

Not by herself or her group The Stone Poneys. She isn't much of a rocker. Too much of a soft image in music.
bufffuzz 04/14/2005
Linda Ronstadt deserves to be in the hall NOW. Her voice continues to sparkle. She is the American Songbook-rock,jazz,musical stage, opera, international, she can do it all. You go girl and make us proud
souljunkie 11/16/2004
Not rock by any stretch of the word! Please! This is pop contemporary music.
Molfan 06/12/2004
She would deserve it. She has also been around since the 70s. she has a beautiful singing voice. She has been wise enough to sing all kinds of music. from modern pop. spanish, to standards. We have Round Midnight a double CD with some really great standard songs. A real talented lady.
Solenoid DH 06/12/2004
She explored many different types of music, not just Rock. She was also quite durable, performing for many years. She only did a few songs that I liked, but I'm smart enough to recognize that she had genuine talent. I'd like to see her placed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
