11/13/2006 | I was married to a Croatian and lived there for a couple of years. Geographically Croatia is beautiful and much of it is unspoilt despite the best efforts of logging companies, tourism and the war in the 90s. Although I got on well on a personal level with several people, in general I found the staff in restuarants, information centres, shops etc to be quite offhand and surly. Then again, the same can be said for most East European countries.
