 | GoinDownSlow (28) 09/04/2007 | Boy needs a hug. Generally speaking, if you have to defend yourself from being outed as a gay, there's a real good chance you are.
Funny thing is though, if he pulled this shit in Mass, not only would he have not lost his job, he'd be a guaranteed shoo-in for the next govenorship.

 | SilverFox (31) 08/30/2007 | I don't fault Larry Craig for his attempted homosexual act, just as I wouldn't fault anyone for any consensual adult sexual activity. It doesn't matter that he's a Republican; he could have been a Democrat or a Know-Nothing or a Dixiecrat, it just doesn't make any difference. But I do fault him for his hypocrisy. He continues to proclaim that he's not gay. OK then, what about 'fessing up to being bisexual? He has attempted and engaged in homosexual activity at least as early as 1982, and he always has denied it. (See Wikipedia, Larry Craig.) He supported the Federal Marriage Amendment, which barred extension of rights to same-sex couples, and said he would vote "yes" on an Idaho constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriages. He's both a phony hypocrite and a liar, and he's not deserving of public office.

 | Loerke (52) 08/29/2007 | OK, so I hadn't heard of Larry Craig before. But have you heard of DeKalb County? Didn't think so. With a population of 700,000, DeKalb in Georgia has about the same number of constituents as Larry Craig (Idaho pop divided by 2 = 700K) but no Senate seat. This is just the problem with the Senate: a bunch of hicks like Craig make the big time, start traveling to cities, discover things about themselves that they tried desperately to repress, and ... oh yeah, wield an inordinate amount of power, forcing "moral" legislation down the rest of our throats, as though Idaho mores applied to my life in Massachusetts. My main problem with this guy (ok, besides the glaring fact that this loser is a senator in the first place) is the public bathroom thing. Come on, man, you're well off; get off the floor, and get a motel room for chrissake! In my past there were certain women I would probably have checked into the Waldorf-Astoria for, in the hope of sleeping with them ... YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN A BATHROOM!!!
An afterthought: Craig apparently said in 1994, "I don't go around anywhere hitting on men, and by God, if I did, I wouldn't do it in Boise, Idaho!..." Proves my point about a hick making the big time ...

 | callitdowntheline75 (69) 08/28/2007 | I can't help but think that this guy wanted some attention- and he succeeded in the worst possible way. Outside of representing a state which is as famous for 'Napoleon Dynamite' and 'tater tots as it is for being one of the reddest of red states, Larry Craig is a relatively unknown national figure (perhaps known best as a strenuously vocal advocate for the Federal Marriage Amendment). As a U.S. Senator, Craig's tenure has largely been predictable as he has been a reliable conservative vote (and being staunchly against gay marriage). Though this bit of news surrounding Craig will likely last for a week or so (at most), it probably is safe to say he will forever be branded a hypocrite should the lewd conduct allegations against him prove to be true, especially because of his visible opposition to gay marriage).

 | Victor83 (42) 08/28/2007 | This will give the libs something to crow about for about a week. Then it will fade away. After that, they will go back to bashing Bush until they lose in 2008 (yawn).

 | edt4 (110) 08/28/2007 | Yet another morality-spouting, Jesus-lovin', homosexual hatin' Republican found in a public rest-room on his knees (or in a brothel like David Vitter, or in his mistress' bedroom like Bob Livingston, or in his gummare's "playroom" like Newt Gingrich, or his putana's car with the porno magazines like Jimmy Swaggart, or in a hotel room raping his intern like Jim Bakker, or...etc...etc.). Craig says now he's not gay; he's never been gay. I guess he's not gay in the same way Bill Clinton's b'job wasn't a sexual act. As prescient, brilliant comic Bill Hicks once said (and I paraphrase), "Anybody that's so moralistic, or homophobic, is always hiding some deep, dark secret...you do know that, right?" If we don't, we certainly should by now. Too pitiful to be laughable, really.

 | Sosuke88 (1) 08/28/2007 | I am a conservative and agree that Craig is a disgrace. While it is true that if Craig was a Democrat this would not be a big deal, Republicans should set a higher standard.
What is with all these politicians having gay sex while being married, anyway? Pretty pathetic I think.
And cheating on your spouse is still cheating regardless of who you are cheating with.

 | hotel283 (20) 08/28/2007 | Ha! Gotcha you pervert!! It's idiots like this that bring home STD's to their wives. It's funny how its always the idiots who are most hateful towards homosexuals and alternative lifestyles always turn out to be the ones participating in the seediest stereotypes of the lifestyle.

 | CanadaSucks (50) 08/28/2007 | Another family-values type who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor. . .for playing footsie with an undercover cop in a men's bathroom notorious for gay sex. . .can't wait for the "I love Jesus so please forgive me" speech. . .for the last time (until the next time) kids, those who scream the loudest about family values probably have the biggest insecurities. . .The world would be a less tense place if a few gay-for-christ types would refocus their obvious misplaced sexual energies. . .
