One of my favorites to watch along with Goolagong and Evert.

Why would 14 of 27 people rate Hana as "terrible?"  She was a better player than quite a few above rated above her.  Four grand slams and a member of the Tennis Hall of Fame.  That's a pretty good record considering that her short career was overlapped by Martina and Chris.

Played tennis the way it should be played: with adventure, daring, and grace. Perhaps only Goolagong played as she did. There are no Mandlikovas or Goolagongs today and the game is the worse for it. Her record may not have been as great as Graf, Navratilova, or Evert. But Hana is a Hall of Famer and one of the best, if not THE best, to watch play the sport.

Easily one of the best female players to watch along with Goolagong and Evert. No player in the 80's had as many wins over Martina and Chris as Hana did. She was truly magnificent and a Hall of Famer.

Great to watch when 'on' a lot better than Evert or King and always seemed to meet Evert in the Quarter Finals. An underachiever in grand slams but glorious to watch when in full bloom.

mandlikova was for sure one of the most giftet players ever. on a good day she was able to beat nearly every other player. watching her then was wonderful. much better than the second row. with the talents of a real champion. but at the same time mentally weak. for sure a great great player. but behind the big legends like lenglen, court, evert and navratilova.

I had the privilege to be Hana's hairdresser for several years when she lived in Belgium. We had a close contact until march 1994. First I didn't know who this girl was, she looked shy. She never gave me the impression that she was a famous tennisplayer, until somebody told me.She was a very natural looking girl/woman.I really enjoid the time she was in the salon. For personal reasons I had to move away and I've lost contact with her.Now I want to get back in contact with her, but I don't know how. I know she lives in Australia now. But that's all I know. Can somebody help please. Does anyone have an Emailadress of her.Can anyone get me in contact with Hana.I'm sorry if there are some mistakes in this letter, but I'm not used to wright in English. Hana was the most gifted-athlete in tennis; Her capacity of shotmaking was unlimited. But recurrent back problems, and mental fragility prevented her to become the equal of Evert, Navratilova... But during the 80's she won 4 Grand Slams, and was the only one able two stop the 2head-monster of women's tour. She lives in Florida where she raises her twins, Mark & Elisabeth.

I think eveyone who really knows tennis will agree with the next statement. Hana at her best, when she could do no wrong, when everything was working would beat anyone who ever lived. Even Seles at her best was no match for the genius and power and utter completion of the Mandlikova game. From serve and volley to artistic backhand and awesome forehand no player ever had a more complete package than she did. Sure she didn't concentrate as well as she could have, but this is a curse common to all the natural tennis genius's like Nastase, Goolagong and Beuno. I loved to watch her play and remember a backhand she hit in the final of the US OPen against Evert in 1980. She was slicing the ball and out of nowhere she up and rips one crosscourt with topspin and I swear the crowd gasped in awe

Though not on the level of BJK, Evert, Navratilova, Graf, Connoly, etc, Hana is one of the all time greats. Perhaps no other player male or female could hit as many different shots. If only she hadn't had such bad luck with injuries and mental meltdowns. Still, she made 4 consecutive Grand Slam Finals from 80 US Open to 81 Wimbledon. She also won every Grand Slam title except for Wimbledon where she was runner-up twice to Evert and Navratilova. I'll never forget the rare feat she accomplished at the 85 US Open defeating both Martina and Chris back-to-back in tight three set matches to win the title. She had 27 career singles titles, 15 doubles titles, 4 Grand Slam singles titles (Australian Open twice) and one Grand Slam doubles title (89 US Open w/Martina).
