Just a media made boogeyman who the Republicans hold over our heads to keep the American public in a constant state of fear which is the way they like it so they can get rich and turn this country into the Orwellian nightmare it's on a highway to becoming.

First of all, this list is not meant to evaluate quality (good/bad) but influence. That said, Bin Laden has little influence, as most of his terrorist organization (Al-Qaeda) has been destroyed, and its wealth either wasted or confiscated. Osama is reduced to hiding in the boondocks of North Pakistan, with only a handful of followers. Osama does send out videos now and then-to taunt his pursuers and threaten further terrorist attacks. He is rumored to have severe health problems, and will probably die of natural causes or suicide...like most evil cult-leaders. While Bin Laden has huge media recognition thanks to 9/11, his current influence-specifically, his ability to harm the US-is extremely limited. He is more of a symbol for, and inspiration to, other radical Jihadists. Osama himself poses little threat to the US, despite attempts to turn him into monstrous boogey-man. Osama is not much of a leader anymore-just another failed revolutionary demagogue.

disgusting piece of shit.

He should live long so his followers won't call him a hero. He should be tortured badly and kept alive.
TechUoP 03/26/2006
i wonder what Bush will say about this. 5 years and he has failed to catch him. Instead, Mr. Bush decided to waste money on Iraq, when he could have spent the money on catching this murderer. Now we will never get justice that we deserve. Instead, we have a bill for $9,000,000,000 that sooner or later we will have to pay. ($3,000,000,000 since 2002).

just a ingnorant bastard whose pathitic and sad gosh i wonder what his dad did to him when he was kid but as much as u may hate to adimit it he does have strong power aint no denying that come on people hes the one who did the 9/11 attacks.

As I am sure most have heard by now there are rumors that Osama Bin Laden who was hiding in the safe sanctuary of Pakistan held Kasmir might have been killed by the massive earthquake. Although there is no evidence to back these rumors if this did indeed occur I'm sure it would be covered up quickly by al-Qaeda. After they were saying God was killing Americans with the hurricanes it would not look to good for them to in turn have their leader smitten down by God.
PzKpfw VI E 10/08/2005
The list doesn't say to rate the quality of these leaders (albeit, Bin Laden is not really a 'political leader' in a sence) but the influence they have of the world. Bin Laden influence is great, but through the War in Iraq, ignorance has found its hatred in Saddam Hussien. So, though Bin Laden SHOULD be having a greater impact on America (through the amount of military personelle searching for him, the industrial power put into the operations, and the political pressure placed on nations like Pakistan to offer assistance), the mess left in Iraq definitely lowers his overall influence on the world.

ca1n1pap...I don't even know what to say to you. As far as bin Laden, if you are into committing mass murder/suicide and justify it with a twisted view of a religion to get 72 virgins in heaven....I suppose he's you're man.
ca1n1pap 04/20/2005
This guy does not really exist. However how are our western leaders going to convince the mindless flocks of sheep to participate in the mass destruction rape murder and pilliging without some one to blame. this was the same tactics through the ages.
BDBopper 04/20/2005
No matter what anyone says (his followers or the people hunting him down) he is already taking the eternal celestrial dirt nap. We were not going to take him alive and there is no way that we would let him be a martyr. Thus the smart thing to do is kill him in secret and hid the evidence. At least I hope this is what has happened. Saddam should have been treated this way as well but we were too stupid to do that so who knows.

Of course, when he was murdering Russians our press touted him as a Freedom Fighter. Then he turned on us.He's probably dead, but since we bombed Iraq over non-existant WMDs there are now thousands more just like him. Those supposed tapes of him are easily faked and seem to show up at times when certain people benefit from the hysteria they cause.

An insufferable rich nomadic terrorist who deserves to die painfully for his crimes. I'm surprised anyone even likes him for what he has done-I mean, murder is one thing, but what Osama's done is many times worse, particularly as he has decided to attack civilian rather than just military targets. He has been associated with church bombings and synagogue attacks, for starters. And do you notice that he never harms Muslims? Osama doesn't lead, he just terrorises people from the shadows. In my opinion and almost everyone else, he doesn't even deserve a 1.
abichara 04/01/2004
Osama bin Laden is the leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist network, which is devoted to uniting all Muslim societies and establishing fundamentalist regimes. bin Laden was youngest son of a wealthy Yemeni businessman who had lots of kids. He went to university where he was trained as a civil engineer, but graduating he went to Pakistan to form a resistance force to fight against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. During this time the United States actively supported bin Laden's organization, offering him arms and equipment. The fighters were recruited from throughout the Muslim world. In 1987, he split from the main resistance force to form al-Qaeda. He did it because he wanted to declare a jihad against Israel and Westernization in the Middle East. bin Laden follows a form of Islam known as wahhabism, which is anti-modernist and anti-secularist. When US troops arrived in Saudi Arabia during the Persian Gulf War, bin Laden began to violently oppose the US and the Saudi government, which he didn't have any quarrel with before. He was living in Saudi Arabia at the time, and the government had him kicked out on arms smuggling charges; he wanted to cause insurrection within the kingdom. His citizenship was revoked in 1994, bin Laden subsequently left to Sudan where he was began developing terrorist camps and investing in new businesses. bin Laden has been linked to the attempted assassination of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in 1995, the bombing of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, the attack on the USS Cole in 2000, and obviously the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Additionally, he has been funding fundamentalist Islamic guerilla operations from Kosovo to the Philippines. In 1996, he left Sudan to go back to Afghanistan, where he helped bring about the brutally repressive Taliban regime to power. bin Laden's opinion represents a very small minority within the Muslim community, but this small group can cause plenty of trouble. What's so disturbing is that this man is very popular in many areas of the Middle East, especially in Pakistan. There is a strong possibility that an Islamic fundamentalist regime could come to power there, thus acquiring nuclear weapons. The chance of this happening will be reduced if we change our foreign policy, we need to be tough on terrorists like bin Laden, but we also have to be more even-handed in our dealings in the region. Doing this will help dissipate the impact that fundamentalists like bin Laden have in the region.

since when weren't civilians legitimate targets (hiroshima, nagasaki). not defendeding the guy morally but has been effective enough to change american policy. pre 9-11 bush policy was more isolationist. osama appartently a very popular name for newborn males in parts of the world. put islamic fundementalism on the map. so i rate him as an effective leader for his cause.

ClassicTVFan47 09/30/2003
Aside from MTV, the epitome of true evil. He plotted to kill thousands of Americans, and shockingly, succeeded. Of course, now, he is a powerless punk that whines and does nothing. His organization and supporters have been vanquished by those on the side of good (the US, UK, etc.) and he will be captured or killed soon.
StanUzbeck 09/26/2003
I guess I don't really have much to add to this debate that hasn't already been said, so I'll say that this is one man the world could definitely do without, and leave it at that.
mikeholly93 08/20/2003
Bin Laden must be eliminated!!! he is a mass murderer and terrorist who killed innocent people on September 11, 2001. I say let's capture him, bring him to trial, and hope that the monster gets the death penalty because he deserves it! Bin Laden is an evil murderer who is a horrible threat to America and a disgrace to Islam. I think that we need a Democratic president who should make capturing Bin Laden one of his top priorities, not a lazy republican like Bush who does nothing about this monster.
harmonicafreak 07/17/2003
i wish i could give him zero stars we need to find him and take care of him hes probably the most or second most evil person alive and uses religion to terrorize us

This man, if anyone EVER proves he had something to do with the events that occured on September 11th, 2001, may be one of the most influential people in the history of American politics. He is apparently the most-hated man in America, according to this site. Oh! Hey kids, we're not rating whether we like someone or not, so leave this discussion to the grown-ups, ok?

I don't get the whole hiding thing either...why would he hide if he thinks dying will take him to his, "Paradise"? I think that we should put him in a maximum security prison for the rest of his life. Eventually from sheer bordom or harassment from other prisones, he will begin to regret what he did, and he will have to live with that regret for the rest of his security prison life.

since when was Osama be Killed a great leader?
anmalone 03/25/2003
It is always peculiar when people attest that Osama does not represent Islam. It is yet another example of the density of purveyors of cultural sensitivity. Christianity is after all the only religion you can defame with impunity. The germane question is then: Why is he the most popular leader in the Arab street and has been since the Afghan War in the 1980's? There is not a more pure distilled 100% proof Muslim anywhere in the world (if he is still with us). Islam is a political system masquerading as a religion that has produced many personalities like Osama Bin Laden since its inception. The "Prophet" was one such man but he inspired Tamerlane, Saladin, The Mahdi of Khartoum and innumerable other bloodthirsty savages. Blood, hate, backward oppression, a false sense of superiority and terror is the tradition and the founding principals of this odious creed. No mercy or quarter should be given to Bin Laden or the other faithful followers of Mohammed. Idiots who harp back to tediously false anti-Christian calumny about how bad the Crusades were, forget that Islam destroyed thriving Christian cultures throughout the east, Egypt and North Africa were laid waste, Spain conquered, Rome laid siege to and they got as far as the gates of Paris until they were driven back by Charles Martel. The only principal that saved such sensitive weak dolts from the oppression of Islam was the use of the brute force by the Western Catholic Crusaders in Spain, France, Italy and finally the Middle East. This state of constant warfare between the West and Islam lasted until the 17th century with the siege of Vienna, Austria. We should honor and praise these extremely Brave men who were always outnumbered by the massive slave armies of Islam but preserved our civilization so that effeminate, weak mind craven cowards could bad mouth them much like they attack President Bush today.
gicau 03/20/2003
I call him an Infidel because he has gone against the rules of God (10 Commandments) and taken versses out of the Koran out of context for his own political intentions. He seems right wing (maybe even far right from some of his comment).
forgotten hero 03/19/2003
The true definition of cowardice. He talks so much crap about America and western civilization which is okay because we all hate the middle east. But to make matters worse he sends some of his cronies to suicide bomb the U.S.S. Cole and then the World Trade Center. Why? Because we don't spend our lives living in caves. Because we are not a third world nation. Because we are different! And after he makes his point he hides like a scared child behind his mother's apron. When we finally catch this S.O.B. I say we tie him up at the site of the fallen W.T.C. and let every New Yorker give him a swift kick to the nuts for the all of the lives that he has stolen. And that our people should do everything in their power to keep him awake until everyone that seeks vengeance has received it.
reeny 03/13/2003
A heartless coward who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people and the pain and suffering their families are going through. He has used the religion of Islam as an excuse to murder countless people throughout the years, but he will get his. All sins do not go unpunished in this lifetime.
Severus 03/08/2003
What is really weird is how the people who are the hardest on Osama have very high negatives. It appears that Osama has supporters out there but like him they are spineless cowards. I would have been more impressed with Islam if instead of misusing general technology as a weapon they could design and build a Boeing 747, The World Trade Center or even the AKM or AK-47 they love to brandish. How can one think they have the stuff to win a world war when they can't produce their own weapons? It is the American Indian paradox. Neolithic man armed with the weapons of their enemy and not understanding the irony of their impertinence.
