 | alpepper (22) 11/11/2004 | When he meets St. Peter, he can show his resume: 1) Descendent of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, one of Hitler's most ardent supporters; 2) Card-carrying Terrorist since the 1960s; 3) Masterminded numerous terrorist attacks on innocent civilians including the 1972 Munich massacre of the Israeli Olympics team; 4) His headdress was always folded in a way that was the shape of Israel, a tell-tale that there was no chance of reason; 5) Sided with Saddam Hussein during Desert Storm; 6) After 9/11, his constituency can be seen dancing in the streets as if Palestine won the World Cup or something; 7) Despite the Euros numerous attempts to legitimize him (Giving him the Noble Peace Prize -that's kind of like giving Susan Smith the Parent of the Year Award). Arafat never had any intention of a peaceful accord. He was given a last best chance in 2000, and responded with a bloody Intefada [SIC?] that has resulted in 4000 deaths; 8) Recruits children to blow themselves up to kill other children. --- When St. Peter reviews these credentials, he'll probably tell Arafat, Don't let the Pearly Gates hit your ass on the way to Hell.

 | neolex (0) 01/21/2004 | How did this asshole got next to the Pope instead of next to Osama Bin Laden is beyond me (Also, since when Osama is a leader). He is second in seeding terrorism and creating chaos only to the Osama, and should be dealt with the same way. Funneling millions of dollars through PA to his personal account while, he is more than interested for the things to remain as they are. Thats the reason he did not sign the agreement at Camp David, which gave all land that Palestians wanted back to them (including Jerusalem). Signing it would jeopardize money he gets from arab sheiks to combat Israel. Arafat is not interested in peace and those who gave him the peace prize must be brain damaged.

 | Moosekarloff (19) 09/22/2003 | A sawed-off, smelly and diseased-looking little runt who's caused more than his share of trouble while gladhanding and BSing the world at large, but he is on a most significant mission and The Powers That Be have been quite foolish in not heeding this. The only way there will be any progress towards peace in the Middle East and a lowering of tensions between the West and the Arab nations is the establishment of a homeland for the Palestinians. This is so patently obvious, and has been so for about two decades now, yet the world community refuses to accept and guarantee this because of an ill-advised, unquestioning, unconditional support of Israel. Holocaust guilt, which is a well-meaning but misplaced and not very realistic sentiment, is holding back progress in that corner of the world and serving as the most significant subtext to worldwide terrorism. Palestinians deserve a homeland in that dreadful little corner of the world as much as those trouble-making and warmonging Zionists, despite the fact that recalcitrant, arrogant and unrealistic Jews everywhere refuse to acquiesce to this reality. This is because the Zionist quest is so obsessive among the Arab-hating set that any relinquishment of that quest, any reasonable move toward peace, any attempt to resolve the tensions and find a solution to the problem will be met with resistance: once the Zionist quest is retired because everyone has been accommodated, these trouble-making and warmonging Israelis would be deprived of their raison d'etre. Also, as an accommodation of the Palestinians would reduce Israel's prominent and totally disproportionate stature on the geopolitical stage, too many egos in Tel Aviv would be bruised. Well, tough luck, Moishe. The safety of the free world supercedes the Zionist quest, and if we're going to be equitable, adult and practical about this, the Israelis are going to have to give up on their landgrab ambitions, the U.S. and what's left of the Western alliance will have to stop serving as Israel's thug, and Arafat's people must be granted their place in the sun. If this is achieved, the so-called "War on Terror" becomes superfluous as the real threat to world peace, Zionist intransigence, will have been stifled. So, as a leader, Arafat should be taken seriously and accorded proper cooperation, otherwise, 3 million Jews will be calling the shots for the rest of the 5 billion people on this planet, and compromising world security, for decades to come.

 | Redoedo (41) 05/24/2003 | He is a terrorist. Plain and simple. While I do believe that the Palestinians deserve a nation to call their own, I do not believe that the violence that Arafat is promoting among his people is the way to achieve that goal.

 | AryanDan (2) 08/31/2002 | I am a supporter of a Hebrew homeland and a Palestinian one, not to forget an Aryan homeland. But, I am not a supporter of the tactics of Israel or the Palestinians. I feel that the US giving unquestioning alliance to one side, Israel, we are complicit in their human rights crimes. Arafat, besides being another ugly politician, is a cold blooded murderer of children. Many Arabs believe he is actually an undercover stoodge of the Israelis; read the book 'By way of Deception' for a little background. Whether he's a stoodge or not, his hands are bloody.

 | TheFreak (5) 06/05/2002 | What a fool. Him and Ariel Sharon both. I am going to give both of them a rating of two stars - one added on for potential capabilities. but they both have their noses so high in the air that they are in danger of drowning when it rains. Yasser Arafat is a fundamentalist jerk, sort of like an even more militant Pat Buchanan, and if Palestine wants anything they need a new leader. Etiehr that or to go back to the good old days of 1992 when he won the Nobel Peace Prize. Since we know that's not going to happen, I guess he just needs to be ditched. Take care, everyone!

 | oodie (0) 04/17/2002 | is only a terrorist in the eyes of America which since September views all Muslims as potential "enemies' Bush wants Arafat to stop the terrorist bombings. ok--tell Bush to find those who tried to poison the US w/Anthrax. it's amazing that these sort of requirements are placed on smaller leaders when our own inept President can't do a thing about 9/11 except bomb Afghan villages. Hmm I wonder where Bin Laden is???
If Arafat is a terrorist as so many of us NEW Israel loving Americans he is. The so is Sharon for the brutal way in which he and the thuggish Israeli army have treated Palestinian citizens. and so is Bush for his mishandling of this nations resources, economy, social programing, and welfare state in the 2 dark years he's almost been in office. Arafat is what the rest of them are.

 | abichara (63) 09/28/2001 | Whomever believes that Yasser Arafat is a peaceseeker has been horribly misinformed. He only talks about peace to placate the world. The reality of the matter is that he would like to see the destruction of the Israeli state. He is the one who starts the "Intifadas" which causes unrest in the region. Frankly, I believe that the majority of people in Israel, both Jewish and Palestinian, desire peace. It is only a small minority of extremists on either side that keeps the fight going. Arafat is one of those extremists that have made the extinction of the Israeli state one of his lifelong goals. To understand why Arafat continues the struggle, we must go back in 1948, the year of the establishment of Israeli state. Palestinians have consistently claimed that their land was stolen from them. That is a valid argument, but in this part of the world, land is constantly changing hands. The Jews didn't steal their land, they bought the Palestinians out. The Jews deserved a country of their own, considering the atrocities committed towards them during the Second World War by Adolf Hitler. Palestine, when Israel first found it, was a wasteland, the land was not being utilized towards it's full potential. Today, Israel is at the forefront of agricultural research. Crops are being grown in areas which were desert at one time. Despite geographical constraints and a virtual lack of natural resources, Israel has managed to build up one of the most diversified and dynamic economies in the Middle East. That alone is very impressive, but advancement will continue only if the Palestinians are willing to work with the Jewish people for a better tommorrow. The Palestinians benefit much more through working with the Jews than against them. Let me assert the fact that at least the Jews offered Arafat the option of having an independent Palestinian state WITHIN Israel. If the Jews did not go to Palestine, the Palestinians would NOT even have a state of their own (!). Lebanon would have taken the West coast of Israel, Syria would have taken the Galilee, Egypt would have taken the Negev, and Jordan would have taken the Jordan Valley and Jerusalem. This was the original intended division of land, there would have been no level of autonomy for the Palestinians at all. The Jews offer so much for the Palestinians; an education at their fine universities, representation at the Knesset, the only democratically elected legislature in the Middle East, and improved infrastructure (roads, hospitals etc.) throughout their towns and cities. Most Palestinians take advantage and they attempt to improve their lives. The key lies in overthrowing Arafat from a leadership position among the Palestinians. More liberal leadership needs to arise, one which realizes the potential that the Palestinians have in cooperating with the Jewish people. The United States must stop acknowledging this butcher Arafat, this is the only way real peace will ultimately come to the Middle East.
