What kind of impression do we give on first date? I saw a reality tv program showing this guy on a first date. He was fidgeting, look down and pick his food most of the time and when he pick up his courage to speak, he said the wrong thing.
I believe one of the fundamental attributes to a good impression on a first date is be interested in your date. Being interested means wanting to know about the person, he/she likes or dislikes and most importantly, "listen".

Once upon a time and a first date. Met this very nice lady, we went out to the theater and a nice dinner. We just REALLY hit it off. All through the evening she'd remain close, taking my hand, giving little pecks on the cheek. We, again, just really hit it off. The evening came to a close, went back to here apartment. "Oh won't you come in for coffee?" Sitting on the couch, getting more intimate, she leans over and says, "Would you like to go back to the bedroom?" Before I even thought, I said, "No, I rather stay out here with you!" She got pissed off, kicked me out and I never saw her again. Oh well...

I try to shut it so I don't come off as too overbearing.

I would imagine that would depend on my date. Different people bring out different topics of discussion.

I was in the seventh grade. I took her to a party. the music was on, people were walking around having a good time. I didn't waste time with words. I made my move. I reached over to put my arm around her and I elbowed her right smack dab in the eye, and knocked her head into the brick wall behind her. Very few words were said by me after that. It was everyone else around me that wouldn't shut up!

I like to talk about myself the whole time. My secretary says it's really egotistical, but I like to think of it as being "me"gotistical.

. . . this is a DATE???? I'm serious, that's actually part of a conversation I had with the man who would eventually become my husband. To be fair, he didn't TELL me it was a date, he just un-invited everyone else that was supposed to come hang out with us.

We would probably talk about each other and find out what the other person is like. A lot of awkward silences though.
