Not furthering your education 3

Education is not the be-all and end-all in a persons life. I know people who've got degrees and are nowhere near a job their qualified for and people who've never seen an inside of a classroom at University and their knowledge and intelligence is remarkable compared to those who've had the opportunity to go. For me personally I stopped at MA level as come Christmas time its not going to be my certificates keeping me company.

2nd largest regret; grew up helping my family with money, then went right into my own family immediately and didn't have the time to go to school, once I had children.

My biggest personal regret. I never took school serious. I was expelled twice in high school and had to attend a continuation school. I recieved my high school diploma in the summer following my class graduation. I took some business classes at a community college, but for all practical purposes I've never had a college education. There is a part of me that feels I never reached my full potential. Just one of those regrets we live with.

At some point I gave up formal education to chase my dream which was to be a notable musician. Music and sports came natural to me but Music owned my heart from the time I could stand up to a microphone. (Performed in from of my whole school at 6) If I could do it all again I would. I only regreted it a little after I had children because obviously, my choice effected their style of life. With an education, I surely would have been where I am now financially when they were just babes.

Yeah, all of us, even the best of students, have regrets at times that we didn't maximize our potential. It might be that you missed out on a chance to study what you truly wanted to, or it could be that you chose not to study at all. An education, if you really get your hands dirty, can be a great growth experience. If you can, get the highest degree possible. I was accepted into grad school last month and I'm starting in the fall. The further you go, the more you get out of it. An education helps you discover your own truth in the final analysis; I know many family members that look back and regret it. Of course, you can always go back, but for some that's easier said than done it seems. And of course school isn't the only way to acquire knowledge; they only point you in the right direction. The process is self-help, if you want an education, it's up to you.

Although this can be really disappointing because I wish I had of done certain courses at school, it is not the end of the world. Because you can always go to university or a further education learning centre. Now days, you can even do online courses. The only thing which can add to the regret is if because of the course you didn't do, you didn't get the job you wanted. But I can see why some people didn't take the opportunity to learn when they were young. It is because they feel they were forced into it. I felt that way about school, and I hated it. I didn't want to learn anything because it was so forced. Then when I was free, then I actually wanted to learn.

Actually, one of my main regrets with regard to education is not taking advantage of the opportunities present. I was more interested in relaxing and enjoying my youth when I should have been focusing on my studies and working as hard as I could. I should have pushed myself to the maximum of my potential, but since I was forced into education, I didn't want to exert my best efforts. I should have appreciated and loved learning and expanding my horizons. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink, I suppose.
