Not as definitive as Maiden or Metallica, but in some ways as important since it was the Priest who crossed over onto MTV, mainstream rock and even the pop charts during the early 80s with real heavy metal therefore giving the genre more mainstream acceptance and paving the way for metallica to become the kings they were at the dawn of the 90s.

Metal needs to be recognized and Priest is the Flag holder for Metal.

These guys took with Sabbath did and built upon it. In some ways there are the best of the true metal bands.

POUNDING THE WORLD, LIKE A BATTERING RAM! Aren't originators supposed to be honored? OK, what about famous then? When it comes down to it, Priest has it all covered. And there is no better music to work out to than 'British Steel' except maybe 'Back in Black'.

Not a heavy metal fan myself, but give them time, they may be in there yet.

The thing that separates Judas Priest from a lot of these other Metal Cornballs is they did'nt write silly songs about Satanism and magic. They just gave the people kick ass rock and roll. Livin After Midnight, Hell Bent For Leather ect! One of the few metal bands that are worthy!
