This program sucks went out bought it and quickly removed it.It's a system HOG!!! slows down your system and your buying spyware and putting it on your system.IT SUCKS DON't BUY IT!

Spysweeper came recommended from the conglomerate where I purchased my laptop.  I bought it and maintained membership for about two years.  It annoyingly popped up on every boot, but although I never received any messages of any serious threats, I never had any spyware problems.  I did not renew, and blamed that on losing an entire hard drive to spyware.  

Recently, my new hard drive was attacked by Virus Protect, which is a powerful and malicious spyware trojan.  I re-installed and renewed Spysweeper, and upgraded for maximum protection.  It removed three threats, but I later found there were near thirty in all, so it was ineffective.  I wrote to customer support and they advised me to buy all the obvious upgrades that I had already purchased.  They must not have read my message.

When I bought another program, it found and removed the entire infiltration from Virus Protect.  I ran a Spysweeper scan at the same time to compare results.  Spysweeper was pitiful.  Don't bother buying it.  It will give you a false sense of security until the day you are attacked, and when that day comes, Spysweeper will be about as effective as a bucket of water on a raging housefire. 

love the scanner hate the protection. best detection and removal but it and counterspy r also best at freezing up as well. its all about is it worth suffering thru the freeze ups to have the best scanner/remover?

One of the better. Does what you'd expect. Has the usual toolbox of added blocking functions. Relatively easy to use. I have this and PC Tools Spyware Doctor and Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and it's pretty much a wash as to who's better. It depends on your interface preferences, I guess. I lean more toward Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Professional. As with all anti-spyware, it doesn't catch it all, so more than one doesn't hurt.

I've been using Spy Sweeper now for about 5 months. I am very pleased with its performance. I especially like the way it gives you an option to further investigate each threat it finds and gives a threat assessment.

I downloaded a trial freeware version of Spy Sweeper and was very impressed with the results. It removed all remnants of adware that was floating around on my computer. I decided to buy the full version and went to www.webroot.com and purchased it. I received an email with an invoice number and receipt for purchase. It stated that I would receive a separate email with instruction for upgrading. If I did not receive the email within 24 hours, I was to email their support team at upgrade@webroot.com. This took place on 8/30/04. It is now 9/20/04 and I have still not received the upgrade instructions. I have been emailing upgrade@webroot.com almost every day. I have submitted upgrade requests on their website and have searched the knowlege base to no avail. I have most recently sent their sales dept. an email stating that if I did not receive their upgrade in 3 business days I would demand a refund. I received an autoresponse from their sales dept. (the only response so far) At this point I can say -- download the free version but do not purchase anything from them. They either have no support or have abandoned their product.

I've been using the free version of spysweeper for about 9 months and I've been very pleased with it's performance and ease of use. It seems to be rated the best on websites that review this type of product. On my computer it has detected and removed trojans as well as advertising programs and cookies. Naturally your level of protection is greatest if you subscribe to the updating service. Every 3 or 4 months I'll delete it and download a newer version which will give me a good number of updates over the older version. I would not hesitate to recommend spysweeper to anyone who has a need for this kind of program.
