This would never happen. Powell is gritting his teeth just to get through serving the president this term. He can't wait to get away. I like Powell, but I could never vote for a ticket that included George W. Bush.

What a tandem, wish it could happen. Mr. Powell why will you not run for the big show????

It would add a lot of much-needed credibility to the Republican ticket, and would definitely tip the scales heavily in Bush's corner. Powell is immensely respected by members of both parties, and rightfully so.

How about Bush and JC WATTS? Wouldn't that put the libs over the top. :)

I don't think Powell would do it, but this would definitely give Bush's prospects a boost. Taking Cheney off the ticket might also indicate that Bush is backpedaling towards a more realist stance for the second term. Right now the neo-conservatives in the administration seem to be on the retreat, so one way or another a second Bush term is going to be more moderate. But selecting Powell would indicate a clean break with the past.

Will never ever ever happen. Powell isn't even going to stick around if Bush wins in November. More and more of Bush's allies are falling by the wayside, very strange don't you think.

Of those listed, this is the strongest combination. George would have to listen to Mr. Powell on occasion though.

I like Colin Powell, but if George W. Bush was part of the package, then this ticket would not get my vote.

Doubtful this would happen simply because I don't think Powell would accept. It's a great idea, though, because it might be enough to put Bush over the top in what will no doubt be a close election.

Actually, I wish Powell would run for president in 2008.

This would be a canny political move, and I hope he doesn't do it, since I want him to lose. Powell has an integrity that Bush can never hope to match (think about Mr. AWOL landing on an aircraft carrier just a few miles off of San Diego--I don't think Mr. Powell would ever stoop to nonsense like that), and removing Cheney would take away a very legitimate complaint of cronyism. I hope he keeps Cheney.
