Once upon a time, I hated Lurie like poison. On national radio, I accused Lurie of deliberately fielding an inferior team to make Philly fans lose interest in them and give him the impetus and justification to move the team to Los Angeles. Fortunately, I was wrong. Lurie did 2 incredible things, he hired Andy Reid and drafted Donovan McNabb (over Ganja Boy Williams). Lurie's Eagles are now the NFL's model of consistency and excellence in a trade space that makes sustained winning difficult.

Lurie is one of the best owners in Pro Football. He came in not really knowing what it took to be an owner and now is one of the best. He provides what is needed for his team to win, runs a strong organization and is hands-off, allowing his people to do their jobs without interfering with them. The Eagles are always under the salary cap and have a clear plan on how to handle free-agency. Lurie was responsible for hiring Andy Reid when Reid was just a QB coach and , on the surface didnt appear to be qualified to be a head coach. Lurie also has invested heavily in the team making it one of the top 5 franchises in Football. Lurie also was behind new facilities for the Eagles and he hired top Architects to desgin these facilities. Lurie will allow his GM to spend money for Free Agents that will make a difference - Ricky Waters, John Runyon, The Freak and T.O.. Lurie also had a cameo in Jerry McGuire.
