I've got a couple pet peeves when I go out to dinner: 1) People who don't leave a lousy tip, or don't tip at all. It's one thing if you got horrible service, but to not tip because they gave you one wrong side-order? Or if they only refilled your drink five times? These servers typically aren't making a lot of cash, they rely on tips for a decent income, and it pisses me off to see people treat them so poorly. As long as they're not blatantly rude to me, I'd leave them something. 2) People who complain loudly about small details. I kid you not, this one woman at a Friendly's one day caused this huge scene, asked for a manager, reamed her out and cursed at everyone . . . because her ice cream was too cold. The servers nuked the ice cream a few times until it was a partially-melted mess, and she still complained. It wouldn't even have been so bad if she wasn't yelling about it. I'd hate to go to dinner with anyone like that. UPDATE: Oh, I got another one: 3) Not giving priority to people with disabilities on the elevator. The metro station nearest the National Zoo is typically highly populated with families with kids and strollers on nice days; we were no exception (we being myself, my husband, my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law and my two young nephews); there was quite a line for the elevator, maybe 8-9 families with at least one stroller each. A gentleman in a wheelchair came up. Not only do I feel that people with disabilites should have priority to go ahead in the elavator, but there were big signs that asked people to PLEASE let those with disabilites have priority. But people just looked at him , turned back around and pushed further forward into the line. Even my in-laws pushed forward. Holding my mother-in-law back, I said shouldn't we let that guy go ahead? He'll figure something out, was her reply. The only people who seemed the least bit concerned were me and my husband. The man in the wheelchair turned away and went elsewhere. Turns out that, when we finally did get our turn to go down, the guy was already there, at the next elevator down. He held the elevator for me, but I let him know I was waiting for my sister-in-law, who was being held up at the ticket-place with the stroller. Regardless, he waited patiently for all of us, even though we didn't give him that courtesy just a few minutes ago. How sad is it when a society turns a cold shoulder to someone who is disabled, even when that person would go out of their way for able-bodied persons?

Update: Hadn't really intended this old post to become six separate list items all quoted verbatim ... so lovely to see my name pop up right next to eating your boogers every time that item gets rated. Heaven forbid I'm not given credit for that one. ** Original post: Other examples of lacking class: practicing your armpit noises, eating your boogers, mooning senior citizens, belching the alphabet, urinating your name in the snow, and wearing a sequined bra like its outerwear.

Farting loudly on a first date. I'm sure glad I didn't do it.

Desecrating a good steak by throwing A-1 all over it before even taking a bite.

Give me some time I could think of quite a few. Gossips, whose goal is to destroy a person's reputation, by inventing total lies about them, people who talk on cellphones while driving, bragging about one's success and all the expensive things they have and how much they cost, especially when they are aware that the persons they are boasting to are struggling to get by. People who kick someone when they are down. bullies who make fun of someone for the way they look. I could think of more but I would get too agitated.

Fighting or arguing in public - Sometimes I see louts or people shouting and swearing at each other on the street. Sometimes, they get into fights. It is a terrible feeling. They must have no consideration for other people if they are stupid enough to fight on the streets. Louts doing burnouts at 3am. People stealing/eating bulk items such as nuts or grapes or pop corn. They open the hatch and grab a couple of bits of pop corn and eat it, without paying for it. Women dressing in these sexually enticing clothes eg these above knee hight tight shorts, sandals which they can easily slip off, then they rub their feet up their legs when waiting in a line, and a top which clarifies their boobs and exposes the bottom of their stomach. Having a whole group of louts on the bus or sitting near you, swearing, throwing things and doing those spit ball things with their pen and shouting at cars or at other people who walk past. Gossip and slander, people (especially women) talking about how much they hate everyone and everything or how ugly such and such is, people who play practical jokes on other people they don't even know. I really hate this one - People breaking the third commandment (out of the Ten commandments) and using the Lord's Name in vain. I really hate it how people say holy (then a sware word such as the s word), or the likes. People parking in handicapped spaces or in taxi ranks. People fiddling with food items in the shop by poking holes in the plastic wrappings or opening certain products.

Oh boy I like this one....Ok: Eating your food one item at a time. Ordering extra condiments any place but a fast food joint. Picking items out of food when at resturants. Wearing socks with any sandals or flip flops. Turning any shoe into a 'house shoe' by being lazy and flatening the back of it. Sticking shiny things on your fingernails. Men with Long finger nails ...at all! Guys who push what hair they have left over there heads thinking everybody doesnt know they are bald! Bad table manners. Going anywhere outside in house shoes. All things ghetto. Wearing clothes like any rap artist. Wearing more than one chain on your neck at a time. Wearing any pendant bigger than a quarter. Any one with gold in there teeth. Buying a car that cost more than your home. Cursing in front of children. Not knowing how to dress accordingly for specific outings. Not knowing how to tie a 'tie'. Expecting friends to have things at there home because you like them. Overstaying your welcome when all the signs and indications are that all are leaving the party. Wearing clothes you should never try wearing. Ordering the highest costing items when going on a first date. More to come.

People who drive while talking on their cellphone. There are wrecks out there just because people weren't paying attention on the road and talking on their cellphone. I've seen this a lot on the road, and I heard that some states (not all of them) have a law against cellphone use while driving so people can pay attention on the road.

I don't think it is any of our place to deem whom has class and who doesn't especially with some of these silly items. I certainly wouldn't be that judgemental.

Thinking it's okay to hate someone for what they like
Flick01 06/15/2004
People who believe that if they dislike someone enough then it's okay to steal from them. Totally without class.
