Every candidate opposing the incumbent party has criticized the administration in power for trading with China for the past 35 years. It is all pure rhetoric. Although our trade deficit continues to expand with China; indeed, they even own almost 30% of the US's debt notices, expect that trade with China will continue. They are our strategic competitors, to those ends they must be engaged economically and even militarily to an extent. Some don't support trade with China because of its totalitarian government or because of its human rights violations, but it is very difficult to ignore what is becoming the world's largest consumer economy (in ironically enough a communist nation!) Comes to show how much ideology really matters! The point is, cutting trade with China would have far reaching implications for the Asian economy, the US economy and the world economy at large.
