Though the beginning of what will become the greatest of all shows, I give the original series a 3 out of 5 because of the quality of acting and the themes of each show. I believe that it was far ahead of it's time but still, it could have been done better. I hope with this newest movie they will recreate the original TV series.

I am not a big Star Trek fan generally speaking, but I must admit it if I am going to watch any of them, it is the original. That show was ahead of its time.

This was great for the time, but hasn't held up. I still don't like the tribbles. The acting is stiff and fake.

This is where it all began. So many story lines with the other series began with what was developed on TOS. You have to over look the set designs and some of Shatner's overdramatic acting. The scripts and character interaction and development were outstanding. TOS was groundbreaker in so many different respects. Only TNG even comes close to TOS among the Star Trek program series.

The TV show was cheesy but that was typical of 60s television so I will leave it at that. TOS had six movies, three of which were horrible but when they were good, they were great! Voyage Home and Wrath of Khan were classics and I love watching them. Khan was classic trek with space battles and technobabble. Voyage was so different from classic Trek that I loved it the most. Undiscovered Country isn't quite on par but it is not far behind. It certainly had great lines and moments. TOS had Spock so I would have given it three stars right there but Voyage, Wrath and Undiscovered pushed it to four.

The original and still the best IMO.

The Doomsday Machine....TNG never got close.

The great beginning. The sets were cheesy and some episodes preachy, but it started the genre.

Totally awesome! Inspired sci-fi plots with great acting and top-notch set design for the 60s! The interaction between Kirk, Spock and McCoy was priceless. And, unlike TNG, it didn't forget it was a science fiction show at times. The second best of the Trek series.
