My second favorite Star Trek of all time, I mean I just need to hear the intro music and I start feeling good about it. I know a lot of people thought that this was the worst of all (then came Enterprise) but I liked it because it changed it all up and you got to learn more about different aliens and their cultures instead of just Star Fleet. It is just like what Commander Sisko said to Q when they were fighting, "I am NOT Picard!"

I felt Enterprise and Voyager darker than this. This was more mystical than anything else. It was good, but had some weak episodes.

Darker than the earlier series, but still held the Star Trek vision that once we've crossed a certain threshhold of enlightenment we won't lose it even when the chips are down.

Deep Space Nine's first two years were awesome--a great exploration feel with creative science fiction plotting. The Dominion War was then introduced with a bang and inspired some great action episodes. Meanwhile, the Ferengi episodes continued with great effect. However, by the 6th season, the show became bogged down too much in the war. It still had some good episodes, though. Serious episodes made you think and your heart pump, and the well-executed comic episodes were great examples of comedy! The fifth best of the Trek series.
