01/25/2006 |  Cartman will go to any length to get what he wants and has the charisma to pull it off. Cartman and his antics are a homage to the theory that reality is socially constructed. The secret to his wide popularity is that in bending reality to his will he speaks to the inner desire in each and everyone of us to create our own world. At the same time the way he exerts his authority over others echoes the fact that in today's society those in power play a big role in constructing our reality. The Fat Butt and Pancake Head episode exhibits the wonder of Cartman to the fullest. Here Cartman creates a world where a Hennifer Lopez (a hand-puppet) becomes a mega-star and wins the heart and has sex with Ben Affleck only to be exposed as an imposter, Mitch Conner who commits suicide. Why? Simply to get Kyle to admit that possibly Cartman didn't contrive the whole sequence events and of course to gloat "Hahahahahaaaha! I got you kinda! I got you kinda!" Other episodes exhibiting Cartman's power to control social reality include but are not limited to The Red Badge of Gayness where Cartman is General Lee and leads the South on a victorious march to DC, Probably where Cartman turns evangelist, and The Passion of the Jew where Cartman leads Christian fans of Gibson's movie into the strets chanting Nazi anti-Jew slogans.

08/01/2005 | A lot of classic quotes from this guy. He is one of those typical brats you see or have to deal with and would love to just give a backhanded swat to. He is so spoiled by his mother who just lets him get/do what he wants so she can do her own thing. The reason I think he is funny is how he always gets involved and so seemingly cares about someone that is going through a sensitive matter, like dying or something similar and then you realize he doesn't care about this person; he's just trying to make money off of it. Kyle and stan never admit to being his friend but always lets him hang out with them, and Kenny sees right through Eric everytime. The things he comes out with kills me, everytime.

03/10/2005 | Along with Homer Simpson easily the funniest cartoon character in the history of TV. Eric is your typical self absorbed 10 year old. His superficial candor with regards to mature issues exhibits the real ignorance of those who hold his opinion for the same reasons. He's explointed ever opportunity to fulfill his personal desires. He's organized hate rallies in a spoof on the Passion of Christ, opened his own churches while spoofing the rip-off televangelists, pimped out his friend Kenny, organized fights like Don King, been a hooker himself, sold candy and cookies and the fatfarm detox for fat kids, started his own Christian rock band all for the attainment of person wealth and power. He is the manifestation of the freedom is fulfilling all my desires position in all its folly. The hysterical places this takes the character keeps me watching week after week.

06/16/2004 | A great character! What would the show be without him?! Yes, he's fat, selfish, rude, racist, greedy and often downright cruel, but there is something inexplicably hysterical about how twisted the little bastard's worldview is. He is the personification of the bad side of human nature and the greed and cruelty we'd prefer not to have other people know about, but you have to admire his perseverence: when he has a scheme to get revenge on someone or to win a lot of money, he is absolutely relentless- he just won't give up no matter what the odds. I honestly think Cartman is the single funniest character in the history of fiction.
