These are really bad, probably the worst of all. People get greedy and fall into their traps.

6/26/04: It's only a four because I've never encountered this issue before. As far as I know, banks and credit card companies would NEVER contact you through phone or e-mail to ask for personal account information, no matter how official they may sound. The safest bet--do not divulge any information to the person who called, and call the phone number listed on your statements and ask THEM if there is a problem with your account. 9/27/05: LOL, I finally got one: supposedly from "customercare@northforkbank.com", asking their "client" to log into their account . . . but, don't worry, if you don't have an ID and password, just use your social security number! That's pretty funny. I found a pretty cool site if you guys wanna check it out: it's to check for online frauds such as these: http://www.fraudwatchinternational.com/alerts/index .shtml.

I get emails all the time asking me for personal information. I know that it's stupid since I've already signed up for the service. why would they need my info when they already have it..?? It's a pain but just don't give out any sensitive information to anyone saying it's for official business and the like.
