 | Munson (7) 07/24/2004 | Simple, wonderful Italian fare. On the corner of Mason and Union a block or two away from the heart of North Beach, this is one my favorite restaurants in SF. The food is delicious (my favorite is fruti de mar - linguini with shrimp, scallops, mussels, salmon in a red sauce) and the service is fairly friendly. The tables are cramped fairly close together and you should probably make reservations on a weekend night. The biggest problem is probably parking so you likely going to add at least $10 to your night to park your car.

It's a small place, and has a great neighborhood feel to it - lots of tacky, autographed photographs of celebrities who have eaten there adorn the walls, and the kitchen is "open", meaning that you can watch your food being prepared. The seafood dishes were outstanding, as was the Italian sausage farfalle... highly recommended.
