Nope, not for me. I always take it off my burgers.

Usually not much in the taste department, but it's invaluable as salad stock, sandwich filler, and low-calorie tortilla stand-in.

I too, like the crispness of iceberg lettuce for garnishing Mexican foods, as well as putting it on several of my sandwiches. I prefer Romaine when making a Caesar salad, the green leafs I use in most of my salads and for warm bacon dressing I use fresh spinach with a few sauteed portabellos on top. No one, however, can convince me that the mix of baby greens, also referred to as mesculin greens, is tasty. They remind me of a handful of weeds picked from a cow field, the frisee is akin to getting hair in my mouth, too bitter for my taste.

Salads are one of my favorite foods, and I always have to have crunchy lettuce on my burgers and tacos! I usually go for a green leaf or romaine lettuce in the produce department. Iceburg is okay in salads, but to me it is best for garnishing mexican dishes.

How can anyone not like lettuce? Salads or on sandwiches it wouldn't be the same without Lettuce.

Not that big on lettuce--it's just kinda there. Since I'm usually eating the iceberg variety, though, I usually associate lettuce as being relatively flavorless; however, it does add a nice crispness on top of a burger.

Another useless, tasteless, terrible-looking green.

It depends what kind of lettuce you have, but overall, lettuce is really great. Hey, you couldn't make a salad without lettuce!

Iceberg lettuce is certainly deserving of a 1-star rating. Not only does it have no flavour, it has no nutritional value! However, iceberg lettuce is by far outnumbered by other varieties, which, while not the most nutritious greens, certainly make for a tastier salad. All in all, though, I'd definitely recommend a salad filled with spinach, dandelion greens, mustard greens, etc., over a lettuce-filled salad, any day!

It depends. Green, leafy lettuce and yellow lettuce are good. The clear/white kind that's all watery is just disgusting. If you want water, drink a glass of it.

Yes, Castlebee - Romaine lettuce is the best! It's nutritous and tasty. I like to buy the organic kind when it goes on sale. I have never had wilted lettuce, but I once tried peanut butter and lettuce soup. - Actually quite tasty. I especially like romaine salads for dinner on hot summer days- just add a protien: hardboiled sliced eggs, fish etc... top with dressing, maybe more veggies like tomato, and some croutons- and voila!- a nice crisp cold meal during the dog days of August. In the winter I like a romaine side salad with a hearty soup and crusty bread.

Like many, I grew up thinking iceberg was really the only lettuce used in salads. Then several years ago a friend of mine, who had been studying nutrition at the time, told me of the virtues of the darker green varieties of lettuce (like romaine). Since then, I have made an effort to try them out and have really grown to love and enjoy a large variety of lettuces. Years ago I remember my grandmothers making wilted lettuce. I know I liked it, but have never attempted to try it out myself.
