An example of the Twighlight Zone at its best. The scantest of an idea examined in the greatest of detail and the end of the piece leaves you something to chew on. Was it all in Shatner's mind or did it really happen? What about the damage on the wing? Did we imagine it too? The conclusion is up to you. The 80's movie version did nothing to improve upon the B&W television original proving that all the advances of movie making trickery and magic are still no match for a great script and performance.

I don't care how silly that creature looks now, but I still jump at the part where Shatner pulls the curtain back and the creature is right there in the window >.<

Yeah, the thing on the airplane's wing isn't nearly as frightening as the movie version--is in fact pretty silly looking! :) Still a good episode and with a lead role by Bill Shatner as a bonus!

Second episode I ever saw, after Living Doll, and it helped lure me to the series. The whole creepiness of the monster adds to the suspense, particulary when it's face is pressed right up against the window and it peers in with sort of a dazed look. Shatner really finds himself in a seemingly no-win situation here.

Another true Zone classic. But, for some reason, I find this one tedious to rewatch. It makes me crazy that no one ever sees the freaking thing but him and I keep wanting to tell everyone to keep looking at the wing. It's great the first time but, for me at least, once was enough.

Well I think this is Shatner at his best...you really believe this is someone who recently had a mental breakdown. As to the monster I think he's really creepy looking.

Liked both the original and movie versions. Can't say why, but the gremlins in the original version kind of freaked me out when I first saw this episode as a kid.

I liked this one both times I saw it - The William Shatner version from the original series and the John Lithgow offering from the Twilight Zone film of the 80's. I prefer Shatner as an actor but Lithgow very much captured the paralyzing fear that some people have about flying.

I saw it and I liked it a lot it was funny to see the freaky, silly looking gremlin. It was funny to see the guy freaking out because he could only see the gremlin. And the pilot's reaction to the guy.

One of the better episodes. Dated when you look at it ( Airlines dont operate like they way they're portrayed here). Still, I agree with PBeavr - a good study on Psychosis and a regular Twilight Zone theme. Shatner turns out to be a great lead in this considering what he went onto do. The new Twilight Zone did a remake of this with John Lithgow that was pretty good as well.

one of the better episodes. William Shatner plays a man who was just released from a sanitrarium for a nervous breakdown. he is on a plane returning home. he looks out the window and sees a gremlin trying to sabatage the plane he spends most of the show trying to convince plane staff of this. of course they do not see a gremlin. in one scene he opens the curtain and sees the gremlin face to face.he tries to take matters in his own hands to save everyone from this gremlin. at the end he is taken away.i will not give away the VERY end but good show.

Ok don't laugh too hard, but this one actually scared the $&!+ out of me when I was about 4 yrs old. Upon watching it again 2 & 1/2 decades later, it amused me that such a simple story could send such chills through me, as it's not exactly hardcore in the terror dept (I suppose w/the over-active imagination I possessed, it didn't have to be) What it is however, is suspenseful, and Shatner does a fine job of portraying a thoroughly freaked-out passenger on a commercial airline jet. Recommended.

Another of their very best episodes, hilariously parodied in a Far Side cartoon set in a car wash.

Very good, and for once Shatner's usual over the top performance perfectly suits his role. Good script and solid direction of a quirky, ingenious story.

It's neat to see William Shatner chewing up scenery at such a tender age. As one who hates to fly, the story touches a primal nerve. Better than the version offered in the Twilight Zone movie.
