It is a matter of the natural site growth. Site administration is on the right track of improving site responsiveness, reliability, readability, and responsiveness. More people like the site - more listings will be available.

A positive and a negative thing, a blessing and a curse...on the one hand, there really are unlimited things to write about that interest you...on the other hand, someone like the creator of the grossest things ever may choose to catalogue all of their individual farts dating back to August 22, 2000 or something...

I believe that's up to us. I'll get right on it, after I finish speed rating the Greater Kansas City area roofing companies.

Lots of times I go to rate a movie, a product, or a local business, and it isn't in the database. Or it is, in three different places.

Seems to be a natural process of the growth of the site, so I don't think it requires special effort on the part of the administrators. On the other hand I'm sure there are more flavors of Grizz dip that could be added, thereby tapping a hitherto unknown number of prose stylists.

It is always good to have more on a site like this but if you are going to add you need to let people know that items have been added. Also items need to be deleted or moved from one catagory to another. Just because some one suggests and item in a catagory does not mean it belong in that catagory. If I am right give Yes!

I'm afraid I do not quite understand the complaint here. Is the problem that there are not enough RateItAll managed lists (or lists period), or is it a lack of enough items in the existing and future lists? As far as I can tell, every registered user gets to set up and manage their own lists (ie a weblist), though there might be a limit of which I am unaware as to how many weblists can be added per user. The only material differences I have noted thus far is that the user must manage their own lists and that a search of this site pops up hits for the official lists first so that one must click another link to pull up the search results for the weblists. As for adding new items and lists, I imagine that this is rather labor intensive, but the management seems to do well given the limitations. Moreover, the suggestions that I have made and received for weblists have by and large been well received. Nevertheless, the bottom line is that if RateItAll is to remain topical and current, new lists and items must be added on a regular basis, and I'm sure that the powers that be understand this reality. Also, we can all help by creating well-managed weblists of our own.

You should make it so we can rate businesses as well. Obviously it would be limited to major businesses, such as Walmart, Target, IKEA, etc.

The weblists pretty much took care of this and if that wasn't enough, Lawrence is allowing regulars to become moderators and add or edit items on RIA's original lists. I just spent my daughters' entire nap-time adding and editing items under Destinations and Children's programming. Have you ever been to Yerevan, Armenia? It has now been added to Eastern European cites along with several other new cities.

This is one of the good things about the creation of MyRIA (User-created lists). If you don't find a certain item or list you're looking for, you can go create your own list and comment on it. This feature is very beneficial and has really expanded this website for the better.

There seems to be plenty of items to rate and members can create their own lists. I don't object to this personally I just don't think it's all that necessary.

You can't possibly have too many. More! More! There is definitely a bias towards TV and pop culture; I wouldn't mind seeing more categories outside of this.

How about going through and removing "reviews" that have nothing to do with the item? Example-10. axlrod2003, on 12/11/02, said: Bush is a TERRORIST!! Was this comment helpful? (8 people found this comment helpful, 22 did not)

I have on numerous ocasions suggested items to rate on this site and I'm still wating to see a single one of them. We can have twenty five different kinds of Starbucks coffee to rate but we can't rate things like Tax preperation services, different computer software manufactures, certain well known movies and tv shows and the list goes on. Why have a suggestion box if you are not going to listen to what we have to say.

As wide a variety this website already has, it couldn't hurt to add more topics for people to rate. But I think that's already happening, and I have a feeling that there's more to come. People are always suggesting new items and topics to rate. Hey, I do; that is, when a topic comes to my mind that I feel some people often overlook. Anyway, it's only a matter of time. So far, so good, RateItAll!!

RIA's been pretty efficient about adding my suggestions to the site so far, so I have no complaints there. I think more topics would be good, I see many products and services that would be beneficial to rate. Plus, the more updated the site is, the more people use it!

I think this is a good idea. Some suggestions I have: characters from the TV show "Cheers", flavors of ice cream, children's TV programs, brands of chewing gum, characters from "Sesame Street", types of music, qualities in potential employees, and types of flowers.

I wholeheartedly agree with john davies, us 'limeys' as Genuine Soldier kindly labels us as, can only rate limited subjects as we aren't fully knowledgable on the American way of life. I know this started out as an American website, but by the looks of it the userbase has expanded and perhaps they should investigate the nationalities of the people who regularly use the site and see if they get any ideas to improve it from that.

Rate it all is off to a good start. There is another website at http://www.egosoup.com that is trying to set up a method to dynamically create topics of rating any person. Right now it is VERY buggy. But it is an interesting idea. Using the First Amendment to give your opinion on anyone, not only celebrities like rate it all. Its worth a peek for now.

Definitely. I think of things to rate during the week, and then when I get on this site, it's not even available to rate. I realize there can't be a billion listings on here, but a few more thousand wouldn't hurt, right?

Hmm..well, it's always fun to have a bunch of new items to rate/comment on, but heck, on the other hand there are already thousands if not millions of items. So the number of items doesn't NEED to be increased, but it's a nice surprise when it is.

Having more subjects to rate is a good thing. But for goodness sake Spices? Fruit? Are we that incredibly bored. I enjoy this site and the format very much, its just that I find expressing my opinions about dead presidents and rock stars a dreadful waste of time. If we really want to spice up the discourse how about a 'If I ruled the world' comment list. Like most everything humans do the extreme is always the end result. You know. 'Give them an inch. . . Anyway this is a great place and everyones opinion is valid.I just feel sorry for the Rate It All managers. My goodness the suggestions they must see.

Much as i appreciate the current huge range of topics and ratings,i'm greedy for more! Some sections-colleges,sports,TV programmes and adverts-feel less inclusive for non-Americans;i'm happy to be learning more about American culture and opinions, but it's difficult to rate or discuss things that aren't so accessible here(Britain). So i'm always pleased to see new topics with a wide international appeal.Perhaps poets, wild animals of the world,birds,plants/flowers,and more sports sections(e.g.all-time greats in certain other major world sports) might be considered?Anyway,i'm still enjoying Rateitall, the comments- and some amusing disagreements!- very much. It's a really excellent site, and expanding very nicely as it is.Have a lovely day everyone.

Maybe I missed something, but aren’t they doing this on an ongoing basis? It doesn’t happen every day, but the amount of categories and new lists has grown quite a lot in the year that I’ve been contributing to the site. I think they’re doing fine in this department.

New categories and additions to categories don't get added fast enough. It takes a really long time for some categories to be added to the list, and some of mine have never made it -- yet they exist and are legitimate stores, etc. I have requested various items in several categories over and over and they just do not get added. This site could be much more interesting if more attention were paid to peoples' requests to add new retail stores, etc. I keep checking back and do not see all that much new stuff being added.

I'd really like to see more Queen coverage on this site...the limited coverage right now is driving me insane because it is very hard to satisfy my Queen addiction. But that's all I can really think of that I personally would like to see added.

More items to rate would be great! Specifically, we need more obsure television shows (like Murder she Wrote, Star Trek Animated Series, shows that didn't last long), other kinds of foods (pizza, chips, soft drink, hamburger -- in general), more video games, older movies, more Star Trek books, and more!

I think I've bugged the people three times to add "Sly & the Family Stone" to the rock/pop artists list, and I think they need to make more room or something because they still haven't added it (*hint hint*). I think there are lots of possibilities for new lists and additions to the site. I don't like restrictions. The sky is the limit! So let's add more items!

I believe that allowing the users of this site to make suggestions on what to add to the website is the best things Rate-It-All does. It makes it one of the most vibrant and active websites on the internet today. It also adds to the democratic theme of the website; people have a word on what is rated on Rate-It-All and that is great!!
