Marilyn Monroe was everyone's favorite. She was a very sensitive person and came from a sad background. She was good looking and had quite a comedic presence.

Marilyn Monroe in my estimation was the most beautiful and prettiest woman who ever lived. With her voluptuous body she easily got the reputation of being the sexiest of them all. She had all the physical features all women wanted for themselves and all men admire; doll like baby face, cute eyes and nose, sensuous lips, perfect white teeth, blonde hair, white flawless skin, hourglass figure, big breasts, small waist, wide hips, big booty and sexy legs. She's not so tall and not so small in height. She had a unique voice (childlike but very sensual). A girl trapped in a woman's body. She looks and sounds good. That explains her physical and sex appeal. She was also very talented. She was a good singer and dancer. She had a very seductive and sweet voice. Just watch and hear her sing "Kiss." She could act and in fact was a great comedian. During interviews she was always charming and gave the strong impression that she was sweet, kind, loving, forgiving and very accepting in private. She always had that naughty look and smile as if she was seducing her audiences and interviewers. She was never disrespectful or arrogant with any interviewer. She knew even then how to deal with media, a genius in media relation. That explains her great charm. Her story is full of struggle, and sadness. She never knew her Father and was raised by so many foster parents. She never had a loving family that could have served as her anchor. Her persistence and hard work gave her tremendous success in a very difficult acting profession. How she could have found success given her many disadvantages is very inspirational. There is also her dark side since legend had it that she used her body to gain an advantage and to succeed. But this is forgivable knowing her very difficult situation which made her all the more endearing. Her exploitation by her studio and the men associated with her earned for her our sympathies. Her romances included the brightest, famous and most powerful men of Hollywood and Washington. She married a sports hero. a birlliant writer and was linked with the Kennedys. Although that is not flattering in terms of her morality yet it proves her great sexual desirability and exposed her unimaginable lust for romance and sex making her a sexually needy woman. That explains why men are drawn to her perhaps thinking that they could have given Marilyn the happiness she sought all her life. Finally the facts surrounding her death gave a strong suggestion of murder implicating the powerful Kennedys. No one is sure how she died and it remains one of history's enduring mysteries.

Marilyn's place in cinematic history is secondary to her place in cultural history. Her acting talent may not have been Academy Award material, although it was not bad at all, and her films may not be the most legendary productions, but she had an impact on American society like no other star before or since. She is one of the few true icons of cinema, her name is synonymous with the term"Sex Symbol". Only Elvis, The Beatles, Sinatra, and James Dean can share in the most rare heights of stardom that this lady reached.

Her movies were enjoyable and in my opinion she was a good actress. It's easy to see why she became such a legend. However, I always felt sad for her about her emotional problems which seemed to ruin her life.
LastMessenger3 07/23/2006
Marilyn Manroe is a legend. She had vulnaribility and sex appeal that mixed together so well. She was a ultimately feminine woman: curvacious, emotional, gentle, and enticing. She hasn't been in many movies because of her such an early demise, but at the same time, within such a short period of time, she captivated and inprisoned us all with her unpretentous mannerism and sexy features. Her voice is incomparable and her persona is unforgettable.
Beblessed 12/05/2005
A LEGEND! Smarter and more talented than most people realize.
miketou 11/08/2005
This woman was pure magic. She practically glowed on film. The voice, the sex appeal, the vulnerability, the dumb blond persona--it all worked. The end result was an unforgettable actress. She must have been a good actress because people confused the persona with the real person. With all her problems, addictions, etc., Marilyn was not as dumb as she pretended to be. She actually worked hard to perfect that persona and ended up being victimized by it. Even though she is no longer with us, she will always be embeddied in American culture.
wolfie 08/21/2005
vastly under rated- had great range, from drama to comedy-plus beautiful- and had a vulnerability that was so delightful.
Miss_Perverse 07/07/2005
Beautiful? Yes. Exceptional Actress? No. More of a product of the industry.
Warren Nose 06/11/2005
Still the hottiest damn woman to ever put on a pair of panties, or take them off for that matter.
X Factor Z 04/01/2005
More eye candy than actress, her speaking and acting style will always be a nostalgic novelty.
texasyankee 03/31/2005
I always enjoyed all of her movies, they were always fun to watch.

singsplatsing 02/21/2005
Of course she was beautiful, but she wasn't very talented in the acting or singing departments. She had her moments though.

Rates a 5 for The 7 Year Itch and being the sexiest looking woman of all time.
70smooveesfan 04/15/2004
I grew up idolising the woman. She was supremely beautiful - almost no-one took a better photo than her. It's just a pity that that beautiful package caused so many people to overlook, or exploit the talent and sensativity underneath. Sometimes wish for her sake she had been born in another era where she could have been recognised for all her talents. However, a product of the times, and its not as though some of the beautiful actresses of today don't still have to battle the same boring old stereotypes. Although Marilyn is seen as a victim, I don't think she would have appreciated being remembered as a 'tragic figure', but rather for the positive enjoyment her art brought to people.
thebeargoddess 03/21/2004
Over rated. Only sucessful because of her body and her death.
handy 03/14/2004
Marilyn was a great actress. She was so gorgeous that people overlooked her grat talent. She was great in serious roles and in comedies. Very few people know that she was extremely intelligent. She also was one of the most beautiful and sexy women ever. I just wish that she had the sense to stay away from JFK and Robert Kennedy instead of having affairs with them. Nonetheless, she is an all-time great actress.
Todd Parker 12/19/2003
If I could build a time machine, I would go back to the 50's and bang the crazy out of this chick!! One good thing you can say about her though, at least she died before she lost all of her looks, a la Elizabeth Taylor. Seriously, Marilyn was one sexy broad.
a1mc 11/24/2003
I say good but she was very near Great
LadyShark4534 09/30/2003
Talented, beautiful, and yet so tragic. Marilyn never realized what she had and killed herself. That's too bad. She had so much potential.
cloudddae 08/27/2003
I grew up wanting to look like her..

Goldberry 06/11/2003
Undoubtably one of the most beautiful women to ever be on the big screen. Personally one of my favorite actresses. All her movies are pretty good, never amazing however because cutesey comedy movies worked better for her. I really liked her because even though she obviously had a tough life off the camera she always got the job done and did the best she could in the end. I didn't give her a "great" rating because i think she didn;t really reach her full potential as an actress. She was talented enough to be in meaningful films that require serious acting, but she was just a sex symbol with the common purpose of making money with her movies. I gave her the "good" rating because she worked well with what she had.

Marilyn is a legend and did such wonderful work. Too bad she didn't win many awards because she deserved so much credit for all that she did.
JTree 02/24/2003
I believe that the key to Marilyn is that she is unique. There is no one like her and she can't be imitated. After forty years, she is as great an icon as she ever was. Some of her performances were outstanding in spite of her personal problems.
Jsulli8040 02/23/2003
Very beautiful woman with a perfect body.
gina055 12/04/2002
Marilyn Monroe is my idol. I absolutly adore the girl. Every year on the anniversary of her death, I visit her crypt. She truly is a legend!
KevanSF 06/26/2002
If you've never seen "Don't Bother to Knock", give it a try. MM really could act, and her charisma is undeniable.
danagrace 05/07/2002
She had style, She had grace. She was the greatest, and is my role model!
Errol 03/12/2002
I have always been a big fan of the 50s era but Marilyn is one part of the 50s I never got that excited about. I like "Some Like It Hot" and "The Seven Year Itch" just because they are well made movies - but not primarily because of her. She was sort of a sex symbol but I never necessarily saw the point of a sex symbol. I preferred the every-day type of girls in movies. But Marilyn was interesting and okay.
dsptchvixen 01/12/2002
Marilyn was very underrated! She was as talented as she was beautiful.
josefinas 12/08/2001
If sex is a drug, then Marilyn is selling it, and it ain't legal. She was a brunette, then became a blonde. She was just another girl, then became a sex goddess. She was chubby, then became the queen of curves. She was loved, then nobody wanted to love her for real. She was alive, then she was dead. Story of a girl. STOP
Honey Rider 11/04/2001
She was, still is, and will always be the screen goddess of all time. Marilyn was more than a pretty face but unfortunately, the pretty face was the only thing many people wanted to see. They did not see, or perhaps did not want to see all the pain and troubles this woman had to endure throughout her life. It's a pity no one saw that and tried to help her before it was too late. It's also a shame that she did not live long enough to become a serious actress, which is what she wanted, because in the Misfits she gave one of her most brilliant performances ever. The motion picture business has not been the same and will never be the same without this woman. Today we have cheap imitations and wannabe's but they are no competition to Marilyn. No other actress has that Marilyn quality. Which is not such a bad thing because I sure as hell would not like to see Marilyn replaced by disposable talent. It's a shame that she is not with us and can't see how much the world still loves her. Long live Marilyn.
ellajedlicka21 10/25/2001
DiMaggio wasn't right for Marilyn. He wanted a low-key marriage, while Marilyn wanted to always be in the spotlight. It is awesome how Elton wrote "Candle in the Wind" for her, Norman Jean.
MedgarEvers 10/24/2001
Umm...the most beautiful woman to ever grace this Earth. Beauty on the inside, beauty on the outside. Her ghost is chasing me, you know. It seems whenever I turn on the t.v. there's some biography about her, more and more I've seen pictures of her on news websites and such that wouldn't usually have pictures of her. I'm flattered. But then again, her lousy husband Dimaggio wasn't the most attractive guy, either. Marilyn Monroe is lovable and beautiful.
Lord of the Waves 10/20/2001
