A lot of unsubstantiated claims are casually thrown about. I am sure I have done this in the past (all four weeks or so), but there are some, whom I won't mention, that regularly leave lies. It seems some people simply like to make up something because it is (apparently) really hard to attack. How about this. Be ready to support any claim you make on RIA with some kind of evidence. I have called two different people on this recently and while I did get replies from both, neither answered my questions about the statements/facts in their reviews. Furthermore, I think the "helpful vs. unhelpful" portion is flawed. Why not have several choices like: helpful, not helpful, agree, disagree, funny, inappropriate, vulgar, for another list entry, etc... Dividing everything into these two classifications is itself, not helpful. Is the only purpose of reading other people's opinions to get "help"? I think not. Give us some options.

Several lists on this site havent been udpated in a while. Such as the "Orlando Restaurants & Bars" List, more than 80% of major Orlando Resurants are missing, I sent in requests to udpate list several times and even sent Rate It All a list and it still hasnt been updated! BUT, overall the some lists are very updated and the overall site is excellent.

Most of the stuff on here is accurate. Some things however, are wrong. The site put the Chevy Avalanche and the Ford Sport Trac as SUV's, even though they are a truck. Most comments put out by people tend to be genuine and fair, but now and then, there is an idiot.

I think a lot of the stuff here is pretty accurate. This is supposed to be an opinion site, not an indisputable fact site. I just wish certain people would realize that.

I’m not sure if this is referring to the accuracy of the information produced by RIA – i.e., defining specific items to be rated, or the information given by the people who rate the items, or how accurate the helpful not helpful votes are considered to be. I’ll assume it means overall accuracy and is referring to all three areas. First, I think RIA has a very decent track record when it comes to presenting the topic. I’m sure that being human they are not above making a mistake but I have not noticed any. As to the posts well, we do see plenty of pretty amazing comments. Still, I think the majority of people try at least to present what they believe is true. After all, it is the OPINION Network and not the “I Declare This to be an Indisputable FACT network” – which I think some people (who shall remain ~~anonymous) seem to have a real problem with. These people also have the tendency to confuse opinion and facts when they are in disagreement with something and strangely also never have the intestinal fortitude to write an intelligent rebuttal. Rather than discuss a difference of opinion intelligently they seem only capable of firing off sneaky and nasty little hate mails. I can only truly answer for myself, but when I post something on this site I do my best to do so honestly using all the information available to me. And, though I do my best to dig up accurate information before I post, I have never once declared myself an expert on any given subject. What it inevitably boils down to is this – this is my opinion and, as this has been declared to a place to express it, that is what I have and will do. In the future if anyone would like to discuss a difference of opinion with me I would be more than happy to do this on this site via public posts or privately through email. But, I will no longer play guessing games with people who are either unwilling or unable to communicate with me beyond insubstantial, ugly insults. Now, one last thing, as to the accuracy of the helpful/not helpful votes; many times I have noticed that a person may have something like 5 helpful opposed to say 10 not helpful yet are still on the top of the helpful list!? This seems very inaccurate to me since someone below them could have 5 helpful and only 2 not helpful (and landed in this lower position only because they posted prior to the first person). In a case like this, the first person obviously has fewer people who consider them to be helpful than the second – making that the only true inaccurate information I have seen on RIA. UPDATE: The more I think of it the more I have to admit that in many cases both the helpful and not helpful sections are more or less invalid. That's because many people are clicking one or the other based on agreement or disagreement with the writer rather than if it actually was a good review and helped them understand the topic. I know I'm guilty of this about 85-90% of the time - and the way people tend to get steamed up over one thing or another on this forum I'm pretty sure I'm not alone.

Obviously, anyone can just write anything they want, true or not. I tend to automatically believe statistics given (if they back it up with a source), but who really knows? But, overall, rateitall is an opinion site, but many people use facts to back them up, most of which are correct. It's the interpretations that are distorted between people.

Most of the time it's quite accurate, the problem is the small number of users. It's also a fact that sometimes it seams like small groups with similar interests have taken the rule of some of the topics (like in "US politician" where I find a huge bunch of racist, especially this becomes clearly when I read the comments of Jesse Jackson).

To some degree this site is like the "ask the audience" lifeline on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". If 90 out of 100 people recommend a product, that's a really good sign. The fact that you can isolate the opinions of men, women, and people your age makes it even more accurate.
