I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. I Played this album out. It was good. This is an album that will only add to the accolades of this group. They did new things like taking different rhythms, different tempos, to reflect what is going on with our world. The music has an urgent feel. They were improving themselves as musicians and artists. This album has been certified 4x Platinum. Remember, this was 2000.

Outkast with a K... Some real good music on here, some classic stuff...so fresh, so clean with all the dirty south hits like gasoline and B.O.B...Humble as a Mumble in the jungles of shouts and screams.... that's the way erika sang it so I guess I've got to reroute my dreams...some b-real on the Xplosion of dirty beat that just makes you want to get some more outkast...

The fourth album by this Georgian rap duo is widely considered to be about as good as alternative hip-hop gets. And you know what? Once you get past the interludes (the worst of which being the forty-second "I'm Cool", pretty much that title phrase on repeat. Fun...), I more or less agree. Like the similarly-minded Gorillaz, they know how to use headphone stuff to good effect - if it weren't for the quirky sounds, "So Fresh, So Clean" would be just another R&B ballad, but with them it's elevated to a pretty high level. And speaking of ballads, come on, who doesn't like "Miss Jackson"? I mean, I'm not even a rap fan, but I know a good song when I hear it, and that's one right there. But it's not just ballads: They really rock the house on the Public Enemy-influenced "Gasoline Dreams", a dense mix of samples; "Spaghetti Junction" is very funky; the nonstop rant "B.O.B." (that stands for "Bombs Over Baghdad") is downright hyperactive, but that's a great rhythm track it's got behind it. And just for variety's sake, they get all spacey and such on the psychedelic "I'll Call Before I Come" - think "Pink Floyd hip-hop", if that's even possible - and even include a haunted-house harpsichord on "Xplosion", as well as adding African rhythms to "Humble Mumble". Not all of it is great - I can safely say I do not like "We Luv Dees Hoes" (isn't OutKast supposed to be the alternative to stuff like that?); the noise attack "?"; or clichéd tracks like "Gangsta S***" or "Red Velvet". And even those are redeemed by the near-heartbreaking "Toilet Tisha" and the title track, with prominent guitar. Yeah, I don't even like rap, and this is good. A tough one not to like, even with the fillers and skits and such. It is a bit to long, though. Do not get this confused with your stupid "G-G-G-G-UNIT!" crapola. Big difference.

Outkast are not your bog standard run of the mill rap act. Stankonia's offbeat enough not to be a part of the 50 Cent, P Diddy and sh*t crowd so some respect is due.

I like outcast... Its ok

stankonia is great, not the best cd ever, but high on my list. Qijran was right when he said b.o.b was sheer brilliance, that song is amazing.
Qijran 03/01/2005
Bombs Over Baghdad was sheer brilliance.

This is Outkast's best album and argueably the best hip-hop album of all-time. Every song has a lot of heart behind it. The production on this album is excellent, and Big Boi and Andre are at their best on this one. I still have this album in my stereo and continually listen to it as it never gets boring; in fact, every new listen contains some kind of new element to it. This album is for everyone, not only hip-hop fans. That's just the kind of appeal that Outkast naturally carries.
tommygirl3142 05/02/2004
Outkast is one of the best hip hop artists in the business right now.
Guava Monkey 04/14/2004
Stand out head and shoulders above the morass of anonymous rap-by-numbers, blinged up, gangster wannabees. 'Stankonia' is one of the few rap/hiphop albums worth buying, as they dont rip off the same old source material as pretty much all other rap acts do.
MeowMix 06/10/2003
such smooth flow and good rhymes with - for the most part - something to say. outkast is one of the best mainstream rap groups out right now
Skysthalimit 10/21/2002
This is a tight a** cd! Outkast beats are always original and different. Their outfits are crazy but they are creative.
couchpotato 04/09/2002
A fantastic glimpse into the full capabilities of what hip-hop can do. The album has so many strong points it's unbelievable. I can't stop listening.
queenrulzzzzz 03/06/2002
outkast is always original...i respect them more than any other rappers out there because they arent afraid to do something different
jiggalofall 03/11/2001
I guess they are ok but they don't have much talent. They sound like slobs and jesus christ they dress like queers.
MoreThanNada 02/23/2001
Outkast is no doubt on top of their game right now. Stankonia is one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. Dre, and Big Boi ripped it as well as The Dungeon Family ( I love Killer Mike and I cant't wait to get Slim Calhoun's solo) They rap about issues that make you think. The whole CD is great, but these tracks stood out to me: "Toliet Tisha", "Gangsta Sh*t", "Snapping and Trapping", and "Stank Love".

what really bugs me out is that people are too quick to judge this album, they listen to one song on it that they don't like and immediately say the whole album is crap! I personally have taken the time to listen to it thoroughly and I give it a 5. I think that the song Toilet Tisha is one of the best because it is getting a message across to young mothers out there that you are not alone! it sort of reminds me of Brenda's got a baby by Tupac (R.I.P)

I Think that this album is f*****d up, as well as "Aquemeni", There first two albums was the bomb. But I don't like there new styles of music. The only track that i like on this album iz "Mrs. Jackson"
MATT mARACIC 12/28/2000
you got to here it to beleive it. and if you only listen you will never feel what i do when listening to Dre3000 hit the guitar while Big Boi raps about growing up in the crooked up society that is America. When the Funk of Stankonia hits i swear you will never be able to look at life, as well as music, the same. i have seen George Clinton and James Brown as well as Goodie Mob twice. And what Big boi and Dre3000 are able to do is take what the greats DID and put with what the conjuer up in thier minds. They are not only standing on the shoulders of giants, they are Giants themselves. If you disagree go home and listen to YOUR backsYNC brittney bS and jgo kiss my but.

I love this cd,outkast is crazy!they have their own style, and i think that is what makes them so popular....i love "mrs.jackson",it's a phat song and it has some hott beatz....
LilLoco 12/08/2000
They are my favorite group! They dont sample everything like other artist. Plus them niggas can flow with knowledge. I like every album that the put out and I will continue buying Outtie until they retire. The CD even gives you a lil something that sounds like Prince from back in the day. Who can ever think of that? But Outtie!
starry17 12/01/2000
For anyone questioning wether they should buy this CD, I can honestly tell you that it is by far the best CD to hit the shelves since their last CD,Aquemeni, came out. Outkast has a very creative, original sound. Five years ago my friends all listened to rap/hip-hop, but I never really wanted to. Then the day came that I was introduced to Outkast and they have made me appreciate Rap for the incredible music that it is. You won't be disappointed with any of the Outkast CD's that are on the shelve. All four are different, but amazingly earpleasing. ENJOY!!!!
Rick Jackson 11/14/2000
Mrs.Jackson is the tightest song
luscios boo 11/09/2000
they are sooooo tight and original with everything they do----from the clothes they wear to the lyrics they rap....They are off the chain!!!!
Curtis Banbury 11/06/2000
This cd is tight. It not only has some of the orginal rap in it but i also mixes in some blues singing with it. There stuff is orginal and not typical like typical rap.
fanatic 11/03/2000
OUTKAST IS THE MOST CREATIVE, UNIQUE, ORIGINAL GROUP EVER. EVERY ALBUM THEY DROP IS SUPERFLY!!! THEIR SONGS ARE ALWAYS SOMETHING THAT YOU HAVE NOT HEARD BEFORE AND THEIR MESSAGES IN THE MUSIC ALWAYS HAVE TRUE AND SPECIAL MEANING. STANKONIA IS ONCE AGAIN A WHOLE DIFFERENT FLAVOR AND I LOVE IT. B.O.B. BLEW MY MIND WHEN I FIRST HEARD IT. 5 STARS OF COURSE AND NO ONE CAN TELL ME DIFFERENT.
