Things are much more expensive than I originally thought, but for the most part it's worth it. There are wonderful bakeries and fantastic farmer's markets... usually across the street from each-other. This is a town with culture. Most people I met there were not exactly eager to get to know me, but there were some with genuine concern and warm friendliness. The College of course dominates the town, but that is too be expected. I wish I could remember the name of that quaint little coffee house a few blocks south of downtown. But I hope that it's relative location and the fact that it's 100% fair trade will help you find it. Also Ann Arbor has the largest Whole Foods stores i have ever seen... they are the size of Barnes and Nobles! Check it Out!

I only go there for two reasons. Pride Fridays at Necto, and Ashley's bar. I will admit that it is a bit "trendy", which does get old, but if you only go there once in a while, it's not too bad.

The very things that made Ann Arbor "Ann Arbor" no longer exist. The only thing remaining is the UofM. There is no variation in residents of different socio-economic backgrounds. If you are not 'uber-wealthy' you can't afford to own anything. The poor live in housing projects located on the outskirts of the city. They own nothing and never will here. Ann Arbor has succeeded in sucking up all of the grit and dumping it into the Huron River. It's too freakin' quaint. Everything is quaint. Quaint and overpriced. It's cheaper to live in a big city with all of this and so much more and they still have dangerous neighborhoods and some grit. You've got to have this variation in your population in order to grow and thrive. Also, there is little industry left in Ann Arbor. On top of the UofM there was a decent sized population of blue collar working class. That is gone. They can keep it. I moved to a blue collar city 35 minutes away that thankfully has it's own identity and does... Read more

Anyone who thinks Ann Arbor sucks can go fuck themselves. If you can't find friends here, then you can leave and not fucking bother the rest of us all. I am from YPSI and I still love A2 to the bone.

Ann Arbor is a horrible place for normal people. If you are down-to-earth, friendly and have common sense, you will hate this place. It was so far-left liberal it made me sick and turned me Republican for a few years. Don't worry, I'm a Democrat again, but very centrist at that. The people are horrible; they brag at the bus stops, in the bus, either to each other but most likely their cellphone. Many are self-absorbed in their own little egomaniacal, pseudo-intellectual world. Most of the people there have to be super-rich and sheltered, because there's no way anyone who lives in the real world can talk and act like they do. A lot of people give you the evil eye for doing nice things like opening doors. Many times, you will get the cold shoulder or a look away if you see someone you know and want to say hi. You catch on real fast and soon your daily routine becomes really impersonal and robotic. Partying with people here is sad, nobody is really that friendly and it all seems to be a w... Read more

Sure March is crappy, but overall it's a great town, with good preservation of nature and old buildings, plus lots of pretty coeds. ...Cy

This town is sooooo boring! There's no diversity whatsoever and it basically sucks! The ONLY thing Ann Arbor has going for it is the University. Hurry up and graduate in 4 years and get out while you can! Not much to do for minorities, not much to do for anybody period! Michigan is pretty corny overall if you ask me. Chicago is the best city to live in if you want to move to the midwest. Do NOT move to Ann Arbor because it sucks!
