I'm not a big Celebrity watcher or fan,and the ones who populate rags like "people" magazine and tv bore me to tears. My five stars is going to Arundhati Roi,author and agitator for the causes of the downtrodden in India. This woman has more class and courage than just about anyone I can think of.She is beautiful inside and out.She is an excellent author of both fiction and fact. Most of all,she fights passionately, selflessly and fearlessly for what she believes in.

No more than any other people I know personally, except for a rare few. The one that comes to mind first is Sally Fields. Seems, no matter what type of role this woman played, she made it believable. I have to have some admiration for anyone who can play a woman with sixteen separate personalities ( Sybil ).

Most celebrities are ordinary people who have just had a lot of media attention thrust upon them. I don't see why anybody should have more admiraton for them than somebody who they personally know.

Massively overrated. Celebrities in the U.S. serve the function of royalty in Europe in previous centuries, providing examples of life lived excessively, publicly, scandalously, and displayed as a magnet for envy. Hold your nose and look away.

There are a few who use their clout to do good things, but for the most part, they are a group spoiled by riches and fame.
