Didn't even fly yet and I already getting shafted by Continental. Truly amazing. Ok so here goes. This review is in regards to not only customer service, but point one pass milage discrepencys and just plain information discrepency over all.

On 10/11/09 I called up Continental international customer service number for cities in other internation locations at the number of 800.231.0856. I had actually called this number a total of 4 different times and each tie I recieved basically completely different information trying to use onepass miles for internation flight. The information discprepency is as follows.

I would be flying from Los Angeles to Saigon Vietnam. The first call that I made was with a gentleman that after a looooooong time stated that there was a flight available at the price of 110,000 points. I thanked him very much and hung up. Called back again less than a minute latter and spoke to a gentleman named Manuel. He found in a short time that there was nothing available at all. After sounding depressed thinking mybe the seat sold out already or what ever, he then ended up finding a seat after all. It would normally cost 70,000 miles round trip in coach how ever there was only a coach seat there, and a business class seat available on the way back. This would make the total milage 95,000 round trip. Called back again less then a minute later and spoke to a woman named Jenny. Right off the bat she stated that there looked to be nothing available for the dates mentioned and none that she could forsee in the immediate future. She was VERY dis interested and short in her words as far as wanting to help me. I had mentioned that I had just spoken to someone one and her exact words were "Well let me tell you something. They are looking at the EXACT same thing that I am looking at ok. We have the same exact system and computer set up so I guarentee you what im telling you is what is available trust me". I never even heard any computer keys being pushed like I had on all the other operators. On my last call again less than a minute later I got a girl named Mary. She was very nice. She stated that there was availablility and that the round trip was 70,000 miles as well as coach also being available round trip no problem.

Discrepencys every single call. Wow what the hell is going on here. I flew with china airlines before and everything was a complete breeze. Its a shame we get shown up on so many things in life by other countries including in this case flying.

Ps. if you book less than 21 days in advance be prepaired to pay $75.00. Good Luck playing roulette everyone! Im flying china airlines again. It was beautiful. My ass don't trust discrepencys for the haul of over 30+house round trip and changin planes etc no way. What a crap company really surprised.

Our flight from Houston to Newark was delayed, then in Newark they are late with bringing up our stroller that we had checked in at the gate in Houston, so while we're waiting for the stroller we're fixing to miss our next flight. So when I run to the next gate with my 1-year old in my arms, asking them how much time we have left before they close the boarding, they start demanding my last name so they can take us off the flight. I'm telling them we WILL make it on this flight even if it means we have to leave the stroller behind - who cares about the stroller if we're facing to spend the night at Newark airport with a little child? But they are so rude and disrespectful - tell me they don't need to hear it and just keep on demanding my last name. When i tell them they don't need to be so rude to me when it's their company that's messing things up here, they tell me they don't need to hear it and at the end threaten to take us off the flight altogether. All that while I'm standing there with my child in my arms. Seriously, did anyone ever teach them not even being service-minded, but just how to treat people with basic decency?? I will NEVER again fly with Continental. Such poor "service" is unheard of.

RIDICULOUS, HORRIBLE, TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Continental Airlines should not be in hospitality business, they should clean toilets at the airports and I am sure they will do a terrible job at that as well. They gave my father 61 yrs of age and my grandfather 85 on wheelchair the hardest time at the Dulles international airport in DC. One of our bags was over by 2 pounds the the very rude lady "Ruby" at the customer service desk was rude about tellilng my father to take things out of his bag to reduce the weight of the bag.

This was nothing, the icing on the cake is that they let my grandfather fly all the way to newark and told him at the airport that according to a crazy rule of theirs my 85 year old grandfather can not fly oversees even though he had proof of dual citizenship. He had to fly back to DC and unfortunately would have to fly with this LOW LEVEL AIRLINES again on thursday. Continental airlines needs to go out of business, close shop and GO HOME!!!

NEVER NEVER NEVER FLY CONTINENTAL!!!! THEY SUCK A@#*

I wish I could give them a minus score- they are so bad I was treated like shit by them- I cant explain how many things they did wrong so I am attaching the letter I wrote them

To Whom it May Concern:

It was my first time traveling with Continental Airlines and the staff and experience in Los Angeles, CA was great and friendly- this was not the case however in London. My cousin, her 2 children and I were traveling together and we had the same flight going to London, but we were on 2 different flights coming back I was on CO67 and she was on CO5, but they were both on the same day 8/17/09. We went to check in our bags together as I was trying to get on the same flight as her- all the lady at the check in counter said was "start with the heaviest bag" so we did and we placed all 6 bags on the belt, she didn't ask who's bag belonged to who nor did she care, I didn't get her name but she was a white woman with brown hair-her hair was pulled back and she had very light blue eyes. Anyways, I went over to the counter to change my ticket and was unable to due so because the flight was full. My cousin, her children and I then went through security and made our way to the gating area- we decided to eat before our flights and then we went our separate ways. Well as I was walking down to my plane I began to feel nauseated and I had to run over to a trash can where I then vomited, I then began to have a panic attack- the staff was acting a little concerned with me asking if I was okay- I told them I am fine I just need a couple minutes well they told me I was too ill to go onto the plane and that they would make sure I got home that same day on a later flight. However I later learned this was not the case- they informed me after my original plane took off 5 minutes early that they could only get me to Newark that day and not to LA. Then I realized if I couldn't go home I needed my bag I then made my way to my cousin's gate for flight CO5- she was already on the plane so I told the one of the staff members what had happened- and that I needed my bag because I couldn't go home that day and I even asked her numerous times if I could get on the flight with my cousin so that I could at least go home with my family and get treatment for my sickness in my own country. Well this is when the lady in charge I believe her name is Wendy- she is an Indian woman in her late 20's or early 30's, she has a short bob cut and was not wearing the regular uniform she had on a red dress and heels- she began to yell at me and say I caused a security risk- I explained to her the situation that my cousin and I packed and checked in our bags together but she accused me of lying and that the check in woman would never do something so stupid- this happening to me as I am feeling so sick and stranded in a foreign country. She then proceeded to go down to the plane and talk to my cousin- all the while I am feeling so bad, and crying because I know I can't go home, I feel sick, stranded and now the airline that should be taking care of me like they promised is making me feel like a criminal and that I am intentionally making the flight late. About 10 minutes later someone comes to take me down the plane area- I see my cousin sitting there being yelled at by the same woman in the red dress- my cousin sees that I am crying and she told me not to worry- the lady then took her inside the plane and left me sitting there. I could hear from outside the woman yelling at my cousin and telling her "I can rip your fucking ticket right now" both of my cousin’s kids are under the age of 10 and they were very frightened. The lady then came out and told me how stupid we were for doing this to her and that she should make us both stay in London. Then without even letting me make a phone call or contact anyone to let them know what had happened she had some other random staff member take me through UK customs again and then left me there on my own. This is when I went down to baggage claim where I asked the staff down there about my luggage and they had no idea what I was talking about. I then went back to departures to see what was going on with my stand by flights- I then got on the standby flight for the following day 8/18/09 at 840AM I knew I was already going to be missing school and work due to this delay and then on the other hand I didn't have my luggage or anyway to contact my relatives, the Continental didn't even let me make a phone call to my family in the US to get a contact number for my family in England -then another staff member came to take me down to baggage claim where I got my luggage. I then went to a completely different airline and the sympathetic staff member let me call my family in the US and then I was able to contact my family in England - he even advised me about the transportation system and where I could take money out on my VISA card. I felt so hopeless before I met this man- who didn't owe me anything and I wasn't even flying on his airline but decided to help me anyways because he saw a human being in need. The next day I arrived 3 hours prior to my 840AM flight CO33- when I arrived an ISEC member asked if I was Behniwal I said yes he said come with me you must speak to Wendy before you get on this flight, I said okay, and then he advised me that she wouldn't be there for another 30 minutes, another staff member, a male, asked me how I was feeling I said , "I feel better and I must get on this flight today for I have already missed school and work yesterday" he said "I understand you just have to speak to Wendy first" So, when Wendy came it was the same woman in the red dress that had yelled at me the previous day- she didn't say hi she didn't smile and she didn't ask me how I felt she told me "You told that woman (pointing to another airline employee) that you are feeling sick and you don't know if you are flying today." I said "No because I haven't even spoken to that lady and a man did ask me how I was feeling and I told him I am feeling better and want to fly today" Then with a huff and a roll of her eyes she walked away from me and began to talk to numerous airline employees, pointing at me in the process- I overheard her telling one of the employees "I don't want to let her fly today but I am going to" I was then waiting for another 30 minutes until they informed me that I could check in my bag and at that time I was asked all of the questions that I should have been asked the previous day when my cousin and I checked in- and I did not see the woman who had checked in our bags the previous day. I then went through security and proceeded to my gate where I was then given my seat assignment, but that flight only went to Houston, so I asked about my connecting flight and then I was told I didn't have a connected flight. I said yes I do I am going to LA today, so then I waited another 15 minutes until they finally gave me my boarding pass for my connecting flight. I then began to board the plane and was pulled to the side by other Continental Airline employees who then began to search my purse, my pillow and my blanket- and then they gave my a full body search, I felt so embarrassed and violated in front of all the other people getting on the plane. I then got on the plane and made my long journey home after the nightmare I went through dealing with the Continental Airline staff in London. I can understand what they were saying we did wrong, we didn't do anything deliberately in order to cause a security breech we are the customers- we only know so much it is up to your staff to ask questions and to find out what bags belong to what person and the woman that checked in our bags looked like she didn't even want to be there let alone ask us any questions pertaining to the bags. I can also understand the staff informing us what was wrong and that we cannot do that but we were traveling together we didn't even think twice, but the way we were yelled at and treated like criminals was not fair. We paid for our tickets just as much as the next person- it was not my fault I got sick- it is the airlines job to ensure I get treated well and get home. They not only lied to me about being able to get home the same day as my original flight- they left me to fend for myself. They didn't let me call anyone, they didn't rebook my flight until I asked them to, they didn't provide any assistance to me. All of my family in England has already heard about this situation my cousin and I were put through, and some of them work at the airport. One of my aunts who works for British Airways assured me that if I had flown with them this would have never happened. My family in America also knows about how I was treated. I will continue to write to Continental Airlines until my voice is heard and until I get some compensation for what my family and I were put through and I also have the paper that has all the times of the flights and what was written about me and other confidential information- the ISEC employee gave it to me when he told me to wait for Wendy and I don't think he was suppose to give me that either- just another mistake Continental made. I can also fax a copy of that documentation over if you would like. I have never ever been treated so much like a worthless piece of dirt like I was treated by your British staff. My cousinand I should not have been treated the way we were because someone from your staff did not follow the correct procedures. I will let everyone I know about how badly I was treated and after I do so- what do you think? You think they will still fly Continental Airlines?

Flew from Lisbon to Dallas. My bag wasnt ripped before I got on their plane and now it is. When I showed it to Continental they said, oh thats on the seam, We are not responsible. It wasnt ripped before I got on their plane and now it is? How does that make them not responsible?
Weak. I hate that airline and if I have the chance will never fly with them again.

During 2 flights last year in route to Cancun we received and observed the worst treatment of people ever experienced in over 28 years of travel! The flight attendants were rude and combative in more than one situation. At one point, after an exchange about access to the lavatory, and attendant stood in front of a passenger and asked are you going to pout like my 3 yr old? I observed this from across the isle so be assured there was no mistaking what I heard. For myself I attempted to ask an attendant a question (not knowing at the time she was counting heads) and she told me very curtly NOT KNOW. I said well excuse me and she continued to count heads. Several minutes later she returned and asked me "What was so important that it could not wait?". Keep in mind several minutes had past and she returned to me with a strong chip/attitude. Clearly the team lacks in professional polite manners. We have not returned to Continental since and will not!! ! !

I am an American living in Paris so I fly back and forth a few times a year to Newark and Houston. The Houston crews are generally friendly and easy going, this makes the trip easier as its an 11 hour flight.

The Newark crew is awful, unpleasant and intimidating. They seem to think you are doing them a favour by flying with them. Where is the quality control with this group. I complained to the flight service manager named "Linda" and she just raised her eyebrows and said really, sounds unusual.

Its not unusual, the Newark crew are thugs, both the men and women are in the wrong jobs. Please Continental do some upgrading here, there were a lot of unhappy passengers on my flight and we shouldn't have to feel that from the crew.

Continental were quite good to fly with.

We flew with them last year a few times to get around the U.S, I was shocked when I boarded my first Continental, I practically had to bend over a bit to get in, and I'm not that tall at all!!
It was very squishy, hardly any room for legs, almost no aisle at all, I don't how broader people would fit in the chairs!! The flight attendants (only one, coz the air craft is so small) on all the flights were quite polite.

In the air they bump around a bit, you could possibly imagine you were on a roller coaster....most of the family didn't really like that much, and nick-named these small American airplanes...."Grasshoppers"....for their size (I guess they are so small coz they are only flying domestically and flights were quite short, 1/2 hour to 3 hours).

I gave them four stars because I am thankful i got home safely! And their price is quite resonable.

I think I will fly with them again

As I was waiting to board my flight from Tampa to Miami, it hit me that the boarding gate I was in was at ground level. Cool, I get to walk on the runway to the plane, I thought. Well let me tell you my friends, everything past that point was most definitely NOT cool.

I said a travel prayer as I walked across the concrete to the jankiest death plane I have ever seen. It carried 19 people, kind of like a private luxury jet. Except replace everything awesome about those planes with everything sucky, and you are still nowhere near imagining what a shitcan this thing was.

At least our pilot was 18 years old. Very reassuring.

When we finally managed to land somewhat safely in Miami, I found my way to the luggage belts to pick up my suitcase that cost me $15 to check. Because it was laying upside down, I had quite the convenient view of the enormous burn mark across the back of it. That wasn't there before. Sweet. Not as sweet as the fact that whatever burned my bag also managed to somehow dent in the handle, which now no longer raises up and down. At least the lady at baggage claim made up for it by giving me a $25 travel voucher for my next flight with Continental, seeing as how I'm definitely flying with thenm after this.

Thanks for the ass raping Continental.

I wouldnt recommend this airline to anyone in my dream also. I had a such a bad experience flying with them, i cant imagine to ever happen to me again. i had to reach to attend a ceremony and cant afford to miss that, i was at the airport 40 minutes before and the crew at airport didnt let me in say i was late as the gates are closed 35 minutes before departure, cos they thought the flight was at 3:40 where in it was at 3:45 and i reached the airport at 3:05. the crew at airport were so rude and they didnt talk to me properly and were so irresponsible and i pleaded them so much to allow me as i could make through the security also.

i had travelled to so many destinations around the world and this is my first experience in my life where i had missed the flight.

PLEASE DONT RECOMMEND CONTINENTAL TO ANY ONE.....SINCERELY YOURS!!!

I have seldom met with a harder to reach customer service or more difficult refund procedure. This is the last airline I would recommend to anyone who is planning to travel since once they have your payment they refuse to return it even should your travel plans change. The time spent waiting to talk to a representative is also a waste of a good portion of the aftenoon.

The WORST AIRLINE in the industry. They stranded me in a city that was not in my original itinerary. They promised me prompt service to my destination, but pawned me off to a non-partner airline, and then they claim they have no responsibility to me, a paying customer.

DO NOT FLY WITH THEM.

flights from
Dallas/Fort Worth to Houston (round trip) ---- very good experience
Dallas/Fort Worth to Frankfurt, Germany (round trip)---- very good experience
Dallas/Fort Worth to Seattle (round trip) -- flight was ok but delay in finding luggage

On February 10, 2009, my wife was returning to Tampa from San Diego. She had been on a bachelorette cruise with a college friend who was getting married. She wanted to do something special for me for Valentine's so she decided to purchase a bottle of Crown Royal XR from the duty free on the cruise (only $140 there compared to $180+ retail).

Unfortunately when she opened her luggage back in Tampa, the box in which the Crown Royal Bottle was in was empty. Stolen from her bag. And the thieves knew what they were taking as well, since they did not take a bottle of wine which was also in the luggage.

After immediately calling Continental and detailing the case they instructed me I had to go online and print out the paperwork to file my claim (corporate red tape policy in hopes of me not completing the claim I am sure.) I was instructed over the phone it may take up to 10 weeks for any determination!

Regrettably it only took 4 weeks to get a letter stating Continental does not cover alcohol in checked bags, but they would give me a $100 credit towards future Continental Airlines purchases.

They couldn't even pony up the $140 the bottle was actually worth, and that doesn't even begin to cover the heartache my wife felt having her Valentine's day surprise stolen from her personal belongings.

First time on Continental round trip HKG-Newark terrible carrier do not recommend it. Rude flight attendants and disorganise boardring procedure at Newark. I requested special meal (low fat/cholesterol) but did not get it. Instead was given eggs for breakfast, beef and cheese sandwich and icecream for snack and steak for lunch. Needless to say I did not eat the meals. Luckily I had prepared some sandwiches otherwise would have been very hungry during the 16 hour flight.

For the same price I could have travelled on Cathay - which I will next time.

I am having to spend 12 hours overnight in Newark thanks to them. They got me to Newark late, and they told me that the weather in Houston somehow affected my flight from Quebec city to Newark. Some other agents told me it was air traffic control. So no one had the same story but they wouldn't even apologize for making me miss my connecting flight. Not to say that they recommended I get to Newark as opposed to just staying in Quebec.

I flew from Dallas to Houston and back. Was impressed with the staff until I arrived from my flight with 12 people on board, and the two of us that checked luggage never received them. It's been 24 hours now and still no one can tell me anything. What a joke. I've heard everything from the pilot may not have allowed them on the plane so that it wasn't overloaded (again with 12 people on board) to the pilot may not have allowed them on board since the plane was so light on passengers and he didn't want the underbelly to be overloaded. Their ground and customer service crew are terrible. Oh, and did I mention that the last time I flew with them they lost my bag also. Believe me, this is the last time I will select them.

Continental Airlines was terrible at Newark Airport. Had tickets to fly home, and ended up taking the train to get to the airport and the same thing happened when I returned from my overseas flight. They said it was weather related, but the weather report on the TV monitor about the heads of the "customer relations" desk said differently. It was fine from the originating city to Newark airport. They said differently. I will never use Continental again. This was my first and it will be my last time. This was on August 2 and August 10th, 2008

Further to my post of yesterday, the kids finally got home after a gruellingly long 24hr journey. The CO agent at Newark took them to the wrong gate for the connecting CO flt to Austin, and they then had to run to reach the correct gate, boarding barely 6 min before the plane doors closed! Not surprisingly their baggage did not accompany them. CO has promised to deliver this today. Let us see.

Out of all the crappy US carriers, this one is about the best. I flew to Seattle last October from Raleigh/Durham. and was re- routed instead of going to houston, we had to land in Mississippi somewhere for the night. They were nice and pleasant and put us all up in Hotels. We eventually made  it the next day.All in all I was impressed with this airline, but it seems they have reduced their service, like most of the other carriers due to high fuel prices.

Of the major airlines, Continental is the best one to take to get to Geneva, Switzerland, as they have a direct flight from Newark, NJ to Geneva. Almost every other airline would require a layover somewhere in Europe, which I'd prefer to avoid. The down side, is that If I took Continental the whole way, it would require a 23 hour layover in Newark. Therefore, I fly United for domestic flights, and Continental for international. Unfortunately, this requires switching airlines, and rechecking luggage when flying to Europe.

I recently flew on Continental and had to switch planes in order to get across country. There were pros and cons to both of my flights. On the first flight my wife and I were served sandwhiches and drinks, however the flight crew was asbolutely awful. The flight attendants were rude, and did not attempt to hide the disdain towards the passengers that they showed on their faces. On our second flight the crew was extremely pleasant. I had no problems with them, however, the in-flight movie was not what it was supposed to be and my wife and I had just viewed it an hour earlier. There was also no meal on this flight but just drinks and peanuts. Overall I think the quality of the airline comes down to a person's experience as they travel. The experience with the ornery staff was definitely disappointing, however the 2nd flight even with its small annoyances was very pleasant. I rate Continental a 3 because I had a very positive experience and one that was negative. I would have to fly with them more in order to change this neutral position.

My two boys were on a continental flight today, delayed 7 1/2 hours. 3 of those hours sitting on the runway in 95 degree weather with no air, and next to the smelly bathroom. Finally loaded them back on to meet with later international flight, as they missed the first, only to find no help in Newark, no transportation, no assistance, rude people, and only 20 mins to connect. Needless to say they missed the connecting flight. Now stuck in a strange city, no flight until 7 pm tomorrow ( 22hours later). What are they given...a food voucher! Thanks Continental! Customer service was very rude and non helpful. Two young teen boys stuck in an airport for 22 hours (not to mention the the 7 1/2 delay and arriving 2 hours early for a flight). A $30 food voucher for a $1200 dollar reservation x 2! They had open seats in first class on a different flight...they would rather inconvenience and endanger people than put them in them (unless we add $4000 per seat). They flew with empty seats. NEVER AGAIN CONTINENTAL, not another dime from me. EVER. I will tell all my friends and associates and hope you go bankrupt...soon.

Went to Las Vegas from BWI on March 15 2008. This was the trip from hell!!!! Flight departed BWI 6:45 AM to stop over in Cleveland, Ohio. Was to leave Cleveland at 9:00 AM and arrive in Vegas 10:37 AM. Did not get to Vegas until 11:30 PM Vegas time!!! There was fog in Cleveland and we circled for 2 hours. Had to go to Detroit since we could land in Cleveland. Kept us on the plane in Detroit for another 2 hours - would not let us off the plane. Went back to Cleveland and arrived around 12 noon. No arrangements were made for us to take the next flight which left at 12:20 PM. Was told that we were rescheduled to leave the NEXT DAY!!! Can you believe this!!! Fortunately, we found a Continental representative who placed us on a flight leaving Cleveland at 5:40 PM. Unfortunately, we still did not arrive until 11:30 PM in Vegas and arrived at the hotel at 12:15 AM (03/16/08) - an entire day was lost!!!!. We received no compensation for our lost day, no assistance in getting us a flight on another airline to arrive in Vegas at the reasonable hour, and no regrets from the airline - they kept telling us "we have no control over the weather". True, but they should have had a contingency plan in place - we were at BWI at 4:45 AM, did not leave until 6:45 AM - surely they knew there was fog in Vegas before we left. The Continental Airline Rep. who told us that we were booked for the next day was very rude. I understand she had been rude to everyone who missed their connecting flights - some individuals missed their cruise line. She referred us to the Customer Service line which was rapped around the airport. One passenger said she was in line for 4 hours and still was placed on the 5:40 PM flight to Vegas - she still had to get another connecting flight and drive another 3 hours to her destination. This was the worst experience I have every had - would NEVER fly Continental again!!! They seemed to only care about themselves and not their customers. No wonder they were rated poorly - had I known earlier, I would not have flown Continental - live a learn!!!!

Flew them for the first time after a 16 year hiatus and was quite impressed! Inflight movies even on their smaller aircraft and ready for this....actual food that was free!

I must be the only one who had a good experience with continental.  They got me out of a jam because they had flights in and out of the small airports I fly to and from.  I had one cancellation due to weather then the next day had delays that forced me to change airlines...not only was continental accommodating, but I found the staff (at the counter and in the air) to be very nice.

I HAVE AN 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THAT FLEW WITH CONTINENTAL AIRLINES FROM LUBBOCK TO MIAMI AND THEN FROM MIAMI TO LUBBOCK FOR SCHOOL. CONTINENTAL USE TO BE MY AIRLINE OF CHOICE TO FLY. I HAVE AND NEVER WILL FLY CONTINENTAL AGAIN. I WILL TELL ALL MY BUISNESS ASSOCIATES NOT TO FLY CONTINENTAL EVER. MY DAUGHTER GOT STRANDED IN HOUSTON BECAUSE THEIR FLIGHT OUT OF MIAMI WAS DELAYED BY 1 HOUR. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT HOUSTON HER CONNECTING FLIGHT DOORS HAD JUST BEEN SHUT AND THEY WOULD NOT OPEN THEM TO LET HER ON. NOW SHE IS GOING TO HAVE TO SIT IN AN UNFAMILIAR AIRPORT FOR 3 TO 4 HOURS BY HER SELF. HOW WOULD YOU AS A PARENT FEEL ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER BEING IN A STRANGE ENVIROMENT. I AM TOTALLY AGAINST ANY AIRLINE THAT LEAVES WOMEN OF ALL AGES VULNERABLE. SEND A MESSAGE TO THESE AIRLINES. WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

I have been a Continental Customer for 10 years. I fly regularly in and out of Newark airport. Other than delayed flights of late, I generally have not had complaints. Until now. On July 31 on a flight from Birmingham to Newark (3 hour delay), my baggage disappeared along with about 1/2 of the other passengers' luggage. We arrived at Newark around 11:00 pm to discover that our luggage was not there. We reported it missing. The next day I went to the Continental website to monitor the progress of the search. It showed that the luggage had been received into Newark. I called to confirm and was told by the 1-800-335-BAGS customer service rep that, yes, the bag was at Newark. We did not receive it that night. We called on Wednesday, August 2 and were told that the bag was being delivered and to leave a note on the front door if we went out. The bag was not delivered. I called 1-800=335-BAGS on Thursday and was told I could pick it up at Newark Airport. So I made the 1.5 hour trip to be told that the baggage could not be found though it was "scanned in". I called again on Friday (day 5) and was told that the baggage did arrive into Newark and was scanned but had since disappeared. I was told to file a missing luggage claim.

I have not checked my bags in 3 years but since I lost a good part of my toiletries at an airport in Florida on a return to Newark, I thought that perhaps I should check the baggage. I was shocked at how inefficient Continentals tracking system is. 1st, since the luggage had been scanned into the airport, there was not reason why it shouldn't have been easy to locate. 2nd, the representatives at Newark are rude and very difficult to deal with. There was so much luggage lost on Monday, July 31st that the line to the lost baggage office was out the door and into the hallway at 10:45 pm.

I am disappointed in how Continental has let their service go completely downhill. There was a time when I would never have considered any other airline. Now, I'm using up my frequent flyers and ditching to another airline.

Continental Airlines has the rudest flight crews in the air - at least in my experience. Folks at their complaints desk claim the airline is rated well by J.D. Powers and others. That may or may not be true. In my experience, they're awful. In fairness, service standards on U.S. airlines are declining across-the-board, but I've seen Continental flight attendants do and say terrible things to fellow passengers - and then they lie to flight crews about what actually happened. In one case, I saw a flight attendant try to intimidate a passenger into not filing a customer-service complaint. Just awful.

Be aware,

I traveled from Philadelphia to Cali Colombia via Houston on July 02, 2007. I left Houston at 6:50 pm in the flight number 820 to Cali. I arrived late to Cali, but my luggage as the luggage of many other passengers did not. No explanation was given by local staff, no assistance whatsoever was offered, and some directions such as give us a phone number and well contact you as soon as the luggage arrives, The phone given is never answered. It's 2 days later and I still have no luggage. The compensation that the airline is giving me,(The airline staff never offered. I demanded it)doesn't come close to cover your emergency costs. Costs of living here is way high right now.
I usually check reviews when I travel, and this time I didn't. I am paying big time for it. The airline doesn't bother to update you. This is a nightmare.
Please be aware

Cheap tickets, but I would pay more for another airline that DOES NOT have ignorant cabin crew, stubborn customer service and that don't screw up your tickets. Very limited leg room for a long haul flight. Seats with a little more room e.g. exits, are only available to "Platinum Members".

Continental airlines worst in U.S. also it base on worst airport in U.S. they do not have control over they own schedule at all, beware you might get stuck in the runway for multiple hours with reason, they just blame weather or control tower. Funny thing is when they are blaming weather all other airelines are taking off fine.
If they have minus score system I will give to them, service is bad, seats are close together no leg room and service worst of all.

Just bad airline can you believe I will prefer American Air over continetal, I will rather take delta over this airline.

Beware guys this is worst airline you can have in domestically, they might cheap but is it worth it????

Since Continental airlines was a hub for Houston Intercontinental Aiport, it went to almost anywhere in the US nonstop. The aircraft was clean, great flight attendants, and a complimentary snack/food and drinks. Been using this airline to go to LAX and was mostly on time. So far, I have experience a four hour delay due to hydrallic leak from LAX to IAH last year (I didn't feel like going back to my hometown that day) so no complaints for them and they offer a free food, drinks, and snacks due to this delay. The reservation was very organized and lets us choose seats. The security was quick and accurate, and so far had never lost baggage with them. Continental Airlines is my best yet, especially from Houston area.

Continental has lost its competitive edge. The latest nor'easter left Continental in shambles - phone calls to their 800 number went unanswered for hours and their staff - when you finally got through were completely unhelpful. Bring back Gordon Bethune!!!!

The original flight was canceled for some unknown reason, and the airport had failed to announce this. This was almost an hour before boarding. There was no indication the flight was canceled at all on the arrivals and departure screens up until the flight was suppose to board. The next day flight that was taken instead was delayed by almost two hours. The actual flight and the flight service was fine, but the customer representatives at the baggage claim were very disrespectful. Because the original flight had been canceled, we were prepared for the luggage to not arrive at the same time we do. We waited the entire time at the baggage claim and were unable to find our luggage, so we reported this to the baggage customer service and they said they would deliver it once they found it. Upon arriving home, they called and said our luggage had been in the customer service office the entire time we were there and insisted that we had simply failed to see our own luggage. Because of this, they refused to deliver it to us. While I can understand that many suitcases look alike, one of our bags is bright red and very hard to miss. We said that we had not seen our suitcases at all on the carousel, and we had been there the entire time, so we asked for an explanation. They rudely replied that they were not surprised because while we were issuing our report, our suitcases had been merely 5 inches away and we had failed to see it so it was no wonder we missed it on the carousel. I understand this could have just been a big misunderstanding, but the treatment my family received by customer service was appalling. They were very rude to us and very condescending the entire time. Because of our treatment, we will never fly with Continental again.

I've had nothing but good experiences with this airline. My flights have always been on time, newer very comfortable planes. Friendly staff, no complaints at all.
