I have flown on Delta many times to all parts of the USA. My most recent flight was from MCO to HNL via MSP the aircraft type was an A330-300. I was in first class, with lie flat seats, lumbar massages
and AVOD (Audio Video On demand) screens with free movies and games. We received two meals and many snacks on the 8.5-hour flight. The service was great and the flight attendants were very helpful and went out of their way to make you flight great.

My other trips (to over a 100 cities in the USA) I have used Delta/Northwest and never really had a problem just minor mix-ups (that every airline will have). Coach class is good with good amount of legroom and the seats are wide. The service is good with the choice of Coke products, peanuts, cookies, and mini pretzels. Customer service is always very good with Delta with their knew customer service agent they are really stepping up to the plate.
I fly many commuter flights as well, those are small but what airline does not have small

commuter planes. The seats are small but comfortable, there is limited legroom but it is not that bad, also the service is good but not as good as mainline delta. With short flight it does not really matter that the seats are not as comfortable as others, it is so quick you don’t even notice.

I remember flying on Delta a few years ago and it not being so terribly bad. When I went to go check in, they told me that it'd be $5 to check in my first piece of luggage. I was shocked. I had never been charged for my first piece of luggage before on any airline. I asked if it was over the weight limit and they said no, they charge everyone. What a way to make an extra buck, Delta.

The only part I liked about it was the one friendly person I asked a question to when I got off the plane. The flight attendants were oblivious and weren't even that nice, it was such a disappointment.

Last year our first flight to Ecuador via Atlanta was canceled due to weather. The next day we arrived at the airport 3 hours early for our rescheduled flight, this time via Cincinnati. At departure time, the flight was not even at the gate. At the next gate, however, a direct flight to Atlanta was in its final boarding stages and we managed to get the last 2 seats before the door closed. They said our baggage would catch up. We barely made our connection in Atlanta as the arrival and departure gates were at opposite ends of the airport. We arrived in Quito at 2:00 am and for the next 4 days we called and e-mailed Delta for our bags. We were scheduled to leave for the Galapagos on Christmas day. When we did, our baggage was still sitting in Cincinnati. Because it was an 'adventure tour', we had prepared accordingly, bringing our own snorkeling gear, hiking boots, sandals, first aid, prescription medication, and clothing as recommended by the tour leader. Our bags did not arrive until 2 days before we were to return home...in other words...a baggage free vacation. You can imagine how difficult and inconvenient that was! When we submitted our claims, Delta dawdled and delayed, eventually losing it altogether some 6 months after the fact and asked that it all be resubmitted. After resubmitting, they issued a check for less than the minimum allowable amount per bag. When this was questioned, they sent a second check for a little over $4.00, and what amounted to half our original claim (less than $800 for 2 people for 16 days). Nothing was added to our claim for inconvenience and incompetence and no airline vouchers or other compensatory measures were ever even offered by Delta. Their lack of insight, class, and customer service skills convinced us that our travel dollars would be better spent elsewhere. To make matters worse, our return flight was delayed for over 8 hours and none of the passengers were advised, and when we got to Atlanta, we were greeted by a surly check in agent named 'Dominic' who had decided to remove my name from the roster, and replace me with a 'premium paying standby'. My husband would get a seat on that flight, and I would sleep at the airport and take a connecting flight out the following day! Fortunately, the supervisor saved the day....and the airline from getting a 'terrible' rating. To finish the story, when we arrived back in NY, our bags had not. We had to drive from Connecticut to Newark to retrieve them the next day!

I'm coming from Brazil to Hawaii where I'll be a PhD student for a few years. I arrived two days ago and I was surprised for not finding my bags in the baggage claim area. People from Delta said that they forgot to put my bags into the airplane back in Brazil but that they would arrive the day after. It's been 2 days and I haven't received my bags yet. I've checked on their website that my bags were supposedly being delivery today till 10am but it's already 11h11 and nothing yet. I will never fly with Delta again! Definitely not!

Delta Airlines SUCKS!!!! They habitually change their flight times (by hours) without properly communicating to their customer. They offer no compensation or apology for the inconvenience. They charge for EVERY checked bag, unlike JetBlue. Oh & good luck getting through to customer service if you have question. Delta Air intentionally schedule flight times that seem convenient for passengers then change it to what works for their budget (they cancel & move flights often). They stink & are NOT cheaper than competitors once you include their hidden fees & the overall aggravation.

Where military and got stationed here in Hawaii. In March My husband , 2 kids and I flew from Savannah GA to Honolulu Hawaii.

Our flights were timely , layovers were short and food was pretty good. The flight attendants were very very nice and that makes for a better trip.

Only 2 things I was kind of annoyed with were:

1. When we flew from ATL to LAX they served a lunch menu with a limited selection which included a cheese and fruit tray and a pastrami sandwich. This was fine since it was just lunch.

Well when we got on the flight from LAX to HNL they gave us a menu and said this is our dinner menu which I thought would at least have something hot on it . To our surprise it was the same menu from the flight before and we winded up eating pastrami sandwiches again for dinner ( which wasnt free by the way).

2. When we got to Hawaii after flying through like 3 timezones tired and dirty. We went to the baggage area to claim our bags , after standing there for almost a half hour we did not see our bags.

Come to find out Delta had put our baggage on American Airlines flight, so we winded up having to sit at Honolulu Airport for another hour to wait for our bags since all of our night clothes and stuff were in them.

On a scale of 10 I give Delta an 8.

I hadn't flown Delta in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised by their service last week. Booking myself onto an existing itinerary so that I could join my boyfriend on a trip took a few tries on their website, but the price was close to the lowest fare available through farecast despite the fact that I wasn't shopping around. Additionally, they bumped me up to business class at no charge for one of the legs because the plane was practically full. I don't travel enough to deal with skymiles but it looks like they've merged with a bunch of airlines recently including Northwest, KLM and AirFrance, so for people who do, there are a lot more flights that qualify for their program now.

They automatically checked us in 24 hours in advance and sent an email that offered links to weather and airport information about our destination. This automatic check-in was a lifesaver on our return trip since we were out of the country and access to the internet was pretty much non-existent. It took about 5 minutes to print our boarding passes at SFO and check a bag thanks to their self-service kiosks.

The cross country flight was quite good. The plane was new and had seat-back touchscreens similar to those featured on JetBlue and Virgin flights. Most of the better entertainment options were paid, but we played trivia for a bit whenever we got bored. If we had felt like paying $7 for a film, they had a decent selection of about 25 films, and also a sampling of HBO shows for $2. Strangely, the music channels were mostly very close covers of popular songs, rather than the originals. I think they had free tv, too. The seats on this flight were low-profile which is great for leg-room but not so good for lumbar support.

Service was friendly, and the flight attendants were accommodating whenever possible. There was a bit of turbulence on the way back that prevented a 3rd drink service, but otherwise we were able to stay well hydrated with water.

It seems like Delta has taken a cue or two from their experiences launching the Song airline and reacted accordingly. There are no hidden fees beyond the ticket price for things like checked baggage or upgrades to sit in random areas of the plane that they've decided are more desirable (although I think they were charging for food).

They made flying painless, which is tough to pull off these days while keeping costs low. Ultimately, it always comes down to finding a good deal when I have a chance to travel, but I'll definitely consider them again when I fly home for Christmas. Meanwhile, I'll be avoiding Southwest who made my last trip a nightmare.

Terrible airline. Took a flight from BWI to Ontario, CA. Checked in electonically the evening before; arrived 1 hour prior to departure thinking all I had to do was check my bags at the curb & proceed directly to security. Wrong thinking - no curb side check in at BWI, so I proceeded inside to use a kiosk. The line was practically out the door. I am now starting to worry about catching my flight after waiting 15 minutes, the line was going NO where, as the kiosk's were broke. 3 counter attendants for over a hundred people. I walk up to the counter & explain my flight is leaving soon & would it be possible to move up in the line & just check my baggage. I'm told to get in line behind 8 other people going to the same destination. The flight departs at 0729 - it is now 0650....One attendant was taking care of the 8 people. The first 6 people move to the counter - a family of 6 that took over 10 minutes to check in. When I made it to the counter at 0705, I'm informed that check in has closed for that flight & to get into a line for rebooking.

Bottom line - I could have easily made the flight if I could have checked my luggage & proceeded to security by either using a kiosk that worked or curb side check in.

I was rebooked on a 5:00 pm flight and arrived at my destination at midnight with a 2 hour drive to the final destination. Oh and a middle seat to boot. I will NEVER fly Delta again.

I actually really enjoyed my last flight on Delta. It was a cross-country trip, so it was a big plane. Delta had a lot of good features on the flight. There were games, music, and television all on a touch screen on the seat back. It made the time fly by (no pun intended).

Fly Delta if -
* you have excess amounts of time and like to spend it waiting at airports
* you want to keep friends and family in suspense about your time and day (!) of arrival
* you enjoy the challenge of being stranded in a foreign country without your luggage
* you like the style & features of retro planes from the 1970s
* you like having your luggage rummaged through and stuff stolen
* you enjoy suffering, pain & abuse
Go for it!

I flew on Delta in May 2008 from Atlanta to Washington-National and return. The curbside check-in saves a lot of time, but a fee is charged. The TSA employees at ATL should could use a PR lesson. They were rude and thought "they knew it all." However, the Delta flight boarded on time and the flight crew was very nice. The MD-88 was very clean and the flight was smooth. On the return, the check-in and security went very well at DCA. Once again, the flight was on time and boarding was smooth. However, the flight crew seemed confused when the passengers boarded. They seemed very concerned about passengers being in the correct seats, and their location within the cabin. What were they expecting? This is an airline people! They were very nice and the flight once again, was great. After we walked the long way from ATL's concourse B, our baggage was already waiting on us. Delta did a great job!

Delta is quite possibly the worst airline out there. I took a trip to London and unfortunately booked my flight through them. On my trip out there my initial flight was 2 hours late, then it sat on the runway for two hours and arrived surprisingly only 3 hours and 45 minutes late. Good thing it was only a 1 hour flight to start with. I arrived in JFK just before midnight obviously missing my flight went to the counter where I overheard a man getting a voucher for a hotel and then saw him getting repremanded for telling another person in line about it. Not a surprise then that when I made it up to the counter they basically told me tough nuggets about a place to stay, voucher for food(not that it would have mattered since all the kiosks were closed) and basically any compensation other than a ticket the next morning. I was then told by gate security that if I wanted to leave I couldn't come back until after 5 am when they would return to their post. Thus making food other than vending machines (most of which were broken) wasn't even an option. So I went and camped out at my gate and called the 1 800 number that had been given to me. It was busy literally all night long. In the morning I talked to another person about it they said it was the wrong number anyway gave me a new number and said that I was at the wrong gate(it was the one on my ticket) and that the flight I was booked for was now out of a gate on the opposite side of the Delta hub. I called and was offered a $200 voucher which I declined and was then told that that's all she could do. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said she was one and the only way for me to contact anybody was via email. Took my flight, which ran late and arrived in London a day late. On the return trip, fingers crossed, my flight ran late again and thus began some more of the same. Nothing on top of nothing in terms of compensation, attitude and plain contempt from customer service people. I was told that I was never offered a voucher for $200 because no one could do that, I was also hung up on twice and told by several people that it was not their fault that the flights were late, because the towers would not let them go on time. While at the same time was told that it was mechanical difficulty, and every customer service person I said that to after changed their story. When asked if it wasn't their fault who was held accountable they could not provide me with an answer when asked how I would be compensated for over 14 hours in an airport and losing a full day of my vacation I was offered a voucher for $50.
In short their employee's are trained to lie and provide you with nothing, their planes are old and uncomfortable and their system is set up to provide no accountability of any sort. I will never fly Delta again.

Somebody call the police...I've just been robbed. I made a reservation for my son and I to go to Columbus Ohio for his college interview. I was very excited to find a very inexpensive fare under "Deals", $149.00 round trip. Two days after I made them, my son informs me he has midterms that week. So I call Delta to change our flight to the following week expecting the usual expensive $75.00 change fee per ticket. I was absolutely astonished to learn that the change fee is now $150.00 per ticket and since that is what I paid for the tickets, I should just buy new tickets and throw those tickets and the $300.00 I just paid for them in the garbage...With the rude customer service person stating "you're tickets are worthless" So are you Delta.

1) Never able to take flight, sat in airport 4hours then on plane 4 hours, finally got off pane
2) Bag LOST for this trip that I never was able to take. I finally received it after 11 days
3) Took no less than 30 times on phone with Delta's 800 baggage number (which is always either busy or at least a 45min wait to obtain an agent, who always claims to be a manager and that no one else can help).
4) Jewelry missing from bag when I finally received it!. Delta claims will not cover it.

I would never advise anyone to fly Delta, they have terrible customer service and absolutely no system for handing problems like this.

Poor customer service, no communication. These people just don't have it together, for every six people that are horrible at their job they have one that is excellent at it, you do the math. Be safe fly anyone else but Delta airlines or you will regret it, I know I did.

If i could give them 0 stars, i would. My family and i were going skiing over christmas. We get to the airport at 5am for a 7am flight. After waiting in the Kiosk line, we were told we had to go to the kiosk assistance line because of our booked extra seat. We did so and found out that since delta had changed our flight about 6 times, my mom was booked for 2 seats, while i did not have a ticket. So we spend over an hour trying to get a ticket, and finally the attendant calls ahead to the gate and tells them to let us on the plane using an early form of the ticket that had been stored in the computer. Then on the return we get in the kiosk assistance line immediately, knowing the that kiosk would not work, only to be told that we had to wait in the kiosk line, and come back only after the kiosk didn't work. So after much arguing we did so and then, surprise, surprise, the kiosk did not work. we were grudgingly allowed in the kiosk assistance flight, and thought everything would be fine. After arriving in DC, we realized that my bag was missing, and had been mislabeled in salt lake city. We went to the lost baggage desk, where the personnel seemed more interested in where the bag with our tag on it was, than the whereabout of my bag. 2 days later, we get a call saying our bag has been located, only to have it delivered and realize that it is the wrong bag. It is absolutely impossible to contact delta, we have called twice and been on hold for a total of about 3 hours before finally hanging up, we have also emailed them 3 times and faxed a copy of each email. I can honestly say i will never fly delta again.

forced gate-checked carry ons are not bar coded. Sometimes they dont get put on flights that are already full (cargo and passenger cabins). Little information is avaiable if one of these bags gets lost...because not bar coded and easily tracked. Counter agents could advise customers that their connections are small jets and their roller carry ons will need to be gate-checked (so they have time to repack their electronics, medications, gifts, jewelry and other items not re-imbursable by airlines if lost or stolen) from the airlines' baggage system. Customers should be told about the risk to what they believe is their "carry on" bags and that they may not have complete control and access to these bags and that they do often get lost or delayed.

I was overbooked on a flight from Las Vegas to JFK, and the flight attendent promised everyone first class for their troubles free of charge. I also have noticed other people's comments, and if they are really upset they should speak with a Delta Agent or just not use Delta if their experience was horrid the first times.

Delta airline has no regards for its customers flying International (Houston-Atlanta-Lagos and Lagos- Atlanta-Houston). This is my experience flying Delta Airline for the first time:
On my trip to Nigeria I had arrived at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport Houston TX, checked in 2 suitcases which was the maximum per customer, my carry on luggage was measured at the counter at check in and it passed the required dimension check. I set out to security, and then arrived at the Gate where my flight to Atlanta was to depart from. It was finally time to board and to me greatest surprise I was told by one of the ladies at the gate that my carry on luggage did not meet the required dimension just by her looking at it (Now how possible is that when I was cleared at the front desk and not to mention this is a carry on luggage I have used to travel for over a year with other airlines without any problem I told her it was measured at the front desk and it was cleared, she called the front desk and the confirmed what I had said rather than allowing me board she still insisted I was not going to travel with my carry on, at this time all passengers had boarded the aircraft so I then said to her what if the checked it in. she said that would not be possible as I have already checked in my maximum number of suitcases. I pleaded with her because I did not know what next to do she then said I will miss my flight. I then asked for an airline bag (You know those bags that airlines offer to customers with excess luggage, of which you pay for anyway) she said I had to go to the front desk for that and if I did that I will surely miss my flight. At this time the gate had been closed and all my family members were on board the aircraft (I thought to myself how inconsiderate and mean can someone who is supposed to be a customer service rep be?). Now I was confused and had no option than to rush down the hall way luckily I saw one of the cleaners from whom I collected a garbage bag I then rushed to the gate and asked if I transfer the contents into the garbage bag if that will be OK and she said yes so I did just that, they gate was opened for me and I dashed out living behind my carry on luggage which was actually a birthday gift from my wife.
On arriving at the Atlanta airport where we board our connecting flight to Lagos, I had to buy a new carry on luggage, of course at airport price $150.00 for a regular carry on an expense not planned for. At the gate in Atlanta after so much delay it was now time to board then a customer service rep or whatever the call them now made an announcement saying that most carry on luggages would have to be checked in this time because the aircraft was small. Of course mine was checked in along with half that of other passengers. It was at this time I was really upset and I asked the lady at the gate why is it OK for you guys to check in carry on luggages now despite the fact that we had checked in our maximum of two suitcases (because that was the reason why the lady at the Houston airport refused to check in my carry on) and all she could say was that they are different individuals, this did not go down well with me as airlines make the policy and not the employee.
The flight to Lagos was a different experience with half the flight attendants being unfriendly. On arrival to Lagos one of the suitcases did not arrive however, there where passengers who did not receive either of there suitcases and every one had to file a complaint for missing luggage. Mine came in the 2 days later.
On returning to America I shared my experience with some friends, who happen to have similar if not worse experiences with Delta Airlines and have vowed never to fly Delta Airlines due to there horrible and poor customer service.
More so, we all think it will be best for some other airlines to start fly direct to Nigeria from America that way the monopoly by Delta Airline is broken and there will be room for competition after all the America Nigeria route is a highly profitable one so why should the passengers be treated with disrespect.
As for me I will not fly Delta Airline especially on international flights

After calling Delta twice previous to my flight to request wheelchair service (as I had badly sprained my ankle), they failed to take care of my basic needs. The man at the outside check in proceeded to tell me that he didn't know how to get one, and had the audacity to ASK for a tip. I proceeded to the security area, where my requests were ignored further. By this time, I was feeling fatigue. I can't tell you how difficult it is to take off your shoes and belt and carry baggage with crutches. (I was wearing a guitar gig bag on my back, and no one even asked me if I needed help.) Once through security, I crutched my way to my gate, all the way looking for a Delta worker to stop and ask for a wheelchair. Finally, I found a woman who I was going to ask. She saw my struggle, and rather than helping me, she decided to chastise me by saying, "You should have asked for a wheelchair!" --Though I had asked on more than occasion. Rather than offering to get me one, she made a turn, and I couldn't find her to ask for her assistance. After another few minutes of struggling through the halls to the gate, finally, another woman saw me and assisted me. When I was finally at the gate and the plane arrived, the flight attendant asked me if I needed a wheelchair. I respectfully declined, as I thought that I would just be walking a couple of feet to get onto the plane. She neglected to tell me that I had to walk down a long, wet ramp to get to the plane. The ramp was steep, took me quite far from the gate, and had I known the distance--if the flight attendant had had the sense to tell me--I would have certainly accepted the wheelchair. Finally, once I carefully crutched to the plane, I saw that there were many steps to get up into the aircraft. After gate-checking my guitar, I asked an airline worker if they would be able to assist me in getting up the steep, wet steps into the plane, as I cannot put any weight on my ankle. Rolling her eyes and sighing, she replied, "Fine, I'll have to ask the guy to get the lift." After she stood there for at least 3 minutes without asking anyone, I was embarrassed that I was holding up the whole flight. After another few minutes without any signs of a lift, I had to crawl into the plane. On my hands & knees. Needless to say, I will NEVER EVER fly Delta again. I'd be happy to pay $100 extra dollars for a flight, as long as it's not with Delta.

Is this one of those going-out-of-business-airlines we read about every week?  After traveling for years and not using this company I was forced into purchasing an itinerary.  CS doesn't get mad at airports (no point, really) but it became an exercise at almost every turn as this company did almost every possible thing to make sure that I would never fly with them again.  Save for two very nice employees I met, this is one airline that deserves whatever fate it gets.

Delta is not only expensive, but it is not a great airline either. Flew overseas a month ago and upon my return home, I didn't get to take a single piece of luggage home with me, except my carry-on. Guess what. They LOST BOTH MY BAGS! I eventually got my bags a week later. One of the bags had some herbs for my sick wife and they stole that!

while the experience of flying was acceptable from Seattle to Florida. The plane was so packed, the line for the one bathroom available was not a good experience. But the airlines losing my luggage was the worst. I was paged on my flight to check in with the ticket agent upon deboarding, to be told my luggage had been left in Atlanta. In Seattle they said they would deliver my bag which was a sleep apnea machine that I need on a daily basis, the following day. That was February 19, 2008. It is not May 9th and no machine, no customer service and no baggage refund has been made even though my claim was filed and received on 2/28/08. If you check about the claim you are referred to a call center in ??? (India) And of course, no one knows anything!!!!
Horrible follow-up!!!

Horrible! Really expensive charges if you need to modify reservations, this time it cost me 1000!. Southwest is SO much better. I fly one roundtrip a week, and Southwest always manages to exceed expectations.

I have flown this airline about 2 times a year in the last 4 or 5 years, the last was in August and that was the last time I will. I've always found the service to be mediocre at best, and during the august flight everyone from the gate agents,to the inflight crew were horrible, and yes even the pilots were snippy, telling us that our beverage service consisted of warm water, that's it!. I don't have to have alot of perks when flying,I only care about getting to my destination but when the employees go out of their way to make you feel like ("how dare those damned passengers board this plane and make me actually work)you honestly feel like you are intruding on their personal time..

Update:

delta and northwest airlines announced they are merging and this will create the biggest US airline..this will probably be a nightmare for customers who live in smaller communities that will very limited options. and as far as the employees hopefully not too many will be layed off,if they had sucky customer service before expect them to be even more surly and rude if they fear their jobs are in danger.

Used to be a great airline but sadly with all their acquisitions over the years and the deregulation of the industry, they've gone down hill pretty quickly. God help them if they merge with Northwest!

Long story short: Delta looses luggage, steals out of the lost luggage, then is rude about it when you file a claim with their horrible customer service, or lack there of.

I had two bags checked, two bags carried. I had one stop-over which turned into a lay-over. My first flight was delayed, got there late. Second flight was delayed, got to destination late. I waited for my bags only to find out they were lost. Me and around 20 other people's luggage was lost. I filed a claim with a man who looked like he hated life.

A Mexican man delivered my luggage almost 24hours later ... he was wearing street clothes and came up in a beat up Honda. That's who Delta hires?! The company is called: Baggage Express. Before signing a paper he put in my face I checked out my luggage to find out that over $1000 dollars worth of my stuff was stolen. I refused to sign the paper, talked to his supervisor for him to just argue with me.

I called Delta and got hung up on only after being put on hold for 20 minutes. I called a second time and was rudely talked to. She kept putting me on hold, raised her voice at me, told me it was my fault and they aren't liable and she threatened to not send me the forms to fill out for a loss.

My advice: Don't fly with Delta cause they'll loose your luggage and steal your stuff.

I've had it with Delta's non-customer service. If you call ahead of time to reserve a seat they tell you to do it at check-in. When you check-in(even if you go very early)they tell you you should have called. Nice catch-22 customer service. Today my flight was rescheduled to the next day due to weather. The agent says she can't reserve a seat for me. I go online and can reserve a seat. Their customer service agents are completely useless. I hope Delta goes bakrupt as soon as possible, as that is what they deserve for the way they treat paying customers.

I would not recommend anyone using Delta Airlines.
My senior parents were stuck in JFK because one of their Delta flight was delayed and the connected Delta flight flew out on time. Delta has changed my parents flight to the next morning leaving them in JFK for the next 14 hours with no support, no housing, nothing. The big picture is as follows:

My father has hearth problems, recently went through a major surgery and any stress can have extremely serious consequences.
My parents don't speak English.
My parents haven't ever traveled abroad before: this is their first trip.
They don't have a credit card, which would be accepted in the US.
They don't have a cell phone, which would be working in the US. I can't contact them and I don't know where they currently are and whether or not they are OK.
For many hours no Delta representative was willing to cooperate or help. After three hours (!!!!) of negotiation over the phone Delta agreed to page them. Delta put me on hold and after a few minutes someone has picked up the phone, but it was a woman from Mexico whose name is similar to my mom's name. After a minute she hung up the phone.
Delta representatives keep putting me on hold - forever, and I am listening to dozens of happy Christmas carrols. The songs will always remind me of Delta, so I won't ever forget.
So... Because of Delta my senior parents are lost with no support in a foreign country - after 12 hours in flight, tired, stressed, with no money and no hope.
This is not the full set of reasons why I have spent a sleepless night and for over 14 hours my live was a hell. And this is not the full story: later on it only got worse.
But this can give you a picture.
So. No more Delta for me, for my parents or friends.

I'm not a huge fan of this company either, but realistically, none of the other big American carriers are any good either.  Most of them are either emerging from bankruptcy or are trying to stay out of it, like American Airlines.  As such, they're trying to cut corners on service wherever they can, whether its cutting back on scheduled flights, staffing, in flight-service, or even maintainance procedures on the planes.  The folks in the corporate offices know they can get away with such practices, because, like Magellan said, the customer complaint system is notoriously difficult.  Air travel in general has become a pain in the ass, with the state of the airlines and airport security.  Probably its a result of more people travelling by air.

Delta is terrible. They were unable to check us (or about 50 other people in line)in within 2 1/2 hours; took 3 hours to rebook us; cancelled our British Airways ticket by mistake; did not help us get onto the BA flight after that; lost our luggage twice; delayed our flights twice; never responded to correspondence to Customer Service; and all but one employee were rude to us. But I think I was still better off than the family of four that were supposed to fly to Italy to meet a cruise and were given boarding passes to the Dublin flight! I am sorry this system makes me give them even a portion of a star in order to submit a review--where are the negative stars????

I despise Delta with every ounce of my soul. I hate them so much that I stopped being friends with someone once because they insisted on flying this airline. During one of the many times that I have been dis-respected by this airline, I finally got an agent to explain to me what was going on. She said that the officers of the company received a memo from the top, saying that costs needed to be cut by any means necessary. One of the ways they were planning on doing this, was by sticking it to the individual travelers who were not with a corporate account. According to their statistics, most people won't take the time to write a letter to challenge an unfair "change fee" or "extra baggage fee", or whatever. So now I have started my campaign against this wicked airline. Delta, I if you are listening, you owe me $575, and I plan to get my money...

The flight experience was just mediocre (bad food, non-working headphones and a broken table make a trans-Atlantic flight frustratingly long). But handling of our delayed luggage was really terrible! First they lost four bags out of four, then they were recovering them one at a time. But even when the bags were found Delta simply did not bother to deliver the bags in a timely maner. We were given false promisses for three days (so far..., since one of the bags is still in the airport). And this is inevitable when you can only reach people at the reception outsourced to India, who tell that they have no phone access to American airports and cannot contact the delivery company. There is absolutely no way to reach anyone who has any real informatio about the situation. We had our luggage delayed before, but Delta is by far the worst in handling such situations.

We spent 2 hours in the Delta line at Las Vegas airport recently waiting to check in for our flight home. The self check-in machines did not work. There were too few workers at the ticket counters. Late arrivals for earlier flights were brought forward ahead of us. Eventually, we ended up having to be brought up 1/2 hour before our flight in order to board it on time. We were there two hours ahead of flight time!

I always fly Delta, I live in the southeast about 2 hours from Atl & it pretty much is the way to go moneywise which is my driving factor. I have flown several atl-sfo & atl-las trans con flights & and several atl-lim South American flights w/out any major problems. Only one short Mia-atl route we were delayed due to mech problem for 3 hours. Not that bad

They treat customers like garbage. Delta Customer Care does absolutely nothing more than create aggravation for customers.
Delta's newest approach is "STEAL FROM CUSTOMERS"

Update. It is the 8th day and I'm still waiting. The baggage was supposed to be sent from Atlanta to San Francisco. The last thing I've heard from Delta that it ended up in Moscow, Russia and it was forwarded to Frankfurt, Germany...

You have to call India to get changes made to your ticket, and usually they screw it up and then you have to hold for a US agent.  Delta's connection carriers, ComAir and Atlantic Southeast are two of the worst run airlines out there, and are perennially delayed and disorganized.  Once they boarded the wrong passengers on the wrong plane and told all of us to get off!  Delta mainline is better and some of the 757s have at seat entertainment, but that doesn't make up for the shortcomings.

I booked my flight for a visit to Anchorage, AK back in July 2005. That was the worst flight I have ever been on!!! On my way there I had a connecting flight in Atl that left about an 1 1/2 late due to "take off and landing traffic". From ATL to Anchorage should have taken 4 hours....well needless to say we had to land in Minneapolis, MN to refuel because we had been redirected and flying in a circle for about a hour. Once we landed to refuel weren't allowed to leave the aircraft, and how could we parked in the middle of the tarmac. We were told the refueling would take about 30 min well were wre there for another 2 hours because they discovered a "mechanical problem". I was due to arrive in AK at 9 pm we arrived at 2:30am. Now on the return we were a minute away from missing our connecting flight in Las Vegas. We made the flight but our luggage didn't! It took 3 days for them to deliver my baggage to my home....In short NEVER AGAIN WILL I FLY DELTA!!!

They cancelled a flight due to a strike and didn't tell us. They made no effort to get us alternative transportation. Then they only refunded my money for that leg of the flight after months of effort. They claimed that leg amounted to only $40 for me and my wife combined. Meanwhile, we racked up >$400 in expenses to get to where we were going.

Delta is by far the worst airline in the country. The sooner they file for bankruptcy the better off I'll be. As an active duty service member, I am forced to fly Delta on all my government funded trips. Over the course of the past 10 months and 11 Delta flights, my luggage has arrived with me on only 5 occasions. Less than 50%?!? What kind of service is that? I have yet to mention the two times I haven't been able to arrive on time to my destination because of maintenance issues with their aircraft. I've also been given a voucher to an overbooked hotel by a ticketing agent one late night, and spent the next two hours trying to find a room in Atlanta at midnight. Don't even get me started on their Sky Miles program. One would have better luck teaching a goat to tap dance than getting a free ticket with your accumulated skymiles or any sort of substantial compensation for the aggravation of flying their airline. Delta Stinks!!!

I log about 75,000 a year with Delta. Used to be THE airline. Lately, their penchant for not giving customers pertinent information in a timely manner and outright lying is driving them into the ground. NOTE TO DELTA: We're big kids. Some of us fly weekly. We can handle the truth and appreciate being told the truth in a timely manner. P.S. TO DELTA: We know how hard it is to deal with unruly customers. If you didnt create as many as the weather and mechanical problems do then half of them would disappear. Simple math. All that being said, often enough there are flights that are on time with a fine crew that make it the airline that I frequently fly.
