 | mtbmawoo (0) 07/13/2008 | In coach you never have enough leg room, no matter what airline you fly with, and Lufthansa is no different. They are a bit behind in terms of in-seat entertainment systems, but they slowly but surely upgrade their planes. The service, as with any other airline depends on the crew, and most of the times I had a great crew. Just ask for what you need, and they will do their level best to accomodate your needs.
Airline food is airline food, and in coach its usualy beef or pasta. Nonetheless, the ratio of acceptable food I got on LH flights to not acceptable food is a healthy 9:1.

 | twansalem (36) 06/30/2008 | I've only flown Lufthansa once, but it was probably my best flight ever. They still only get four stars, because no airline gives anywhere near enough space for economy passengers who are as big as I am, but they are no worse than anyone else in this department.
Do they still give you free alcoholic beverages? That was definitely a perk.

 | arbella (0) 06/18/2008 | I flew Business class no less, from Boston to Tel Aviv via Frankfurt. Plastic seats very confusing and just not comfortable. Couldnt figure out the entertainment unit. Food was really not that good...it read well but tasted lousy...reminded me of old coach meals in the past. The Club is so-so and very unfriendly. I had to show all kinds of proof of who I was and that I had the proper Business class ticket. Another flyer was told he could not enter since he has a discount ticket? What??? I pay much extra to be comfortable and pampered so I crossed Lufthansa off my list

 | JANICEEJ (0) 03/26/2008 | ATLANTA TO ROME & RETURN IN EARLY JAN. 2008.
GREAT FLIGHT. FOOD WAS GREAT. PLENTY OF LEG ROOM & ATTENDANTS WERE SUPER.
WAS DELAYED LEAVING ROME, BUT, THAT WAS AIRPORTS ISSUE.
ONE OF THE BEST TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHTS I'VE EVER HAD.

 | hoosier4ever (2) 02/01/2008 | Have flown them twice, which I know is not much, but both times have been excellent. Also, they are very animal friendly. This is not to say that if YOU are not animal friendly that you will be sitting next to dogs and cats. My cat was the only non-human on one of my flights with Lufthansa. She has since deceased, but she was my heart...and the staff in the terminal and on-board made our trip (JFK to Frankfurt) the best it could have been. Because of that particular trip, they are the only airline I will use if they are available for my departure and arrival cities. Excellent staff and clean planes.

 | uberspaz (0) 10/26/2007 | Odd air pressure in the planes to and from Germany. It gave me a difficult time breathing, which is even odder because I have flown on other airlines and have never encountered this before or since. Service was good enough. Food was ok (I've had much better). I was fortunately sitting right before the coach divider so I had good leg room when I went over, but going back it was more cramped since it was a smaller plane and there wasn't a divider.

 | magellan (153) 06/02/2006 | Lufthansa is sweet. At least on the trans-Atlantic flights, they offer wifi (it's like $9 per hour, but even so it's fantastic). On my recent flight back from Germany, they were giving out 20 oz warsteiner beers on demand, preemptively offering Bailey's on the rocks to passengers, and the staff was extremely professional and friendly.
When my laptop ran out of juice, when of the stewards tracked down an adaptor and took my laptop to first class to charge it for me.
There was also a VERY sick guy sitting near me who was treated very kindly by the stewardesses. They tracked down a doctor to talk to him, and moved him up to first class.
While I've only flown Lufthansa twice, but experience has been very, very favorable. Up there with JetBlue as my favorite airline.
* oh yeah, one more thing. Through an Orbitz screw up, I accidentally ordered a special meal for diabetics. I'm not diabetic, but the meal was fantastic... a bit healthier than the other stuff, and clearly made to order just for me.

 | earthbound (37) 11/28/2005 | I used to fly Lufthansa very frequently, especially when I lived in Germany. The aircrafts themselves are well maintained in my experience and the flights tend to be punctual; the food is good, but not breathtakingly so, and as an airline they appear to be less prone to the more random problems that I have encountered on other airlines. In sum, Lufthansa functions like a well-oiled machine.
Unfortunately, the 'machine' analogy carries over to the staff also, who are efficient, but distant.
Behind the mechanical provision of services, you could often catch a distinct whiff of the attitude, all-too pervasive in Germany, that reminds you that, just because you are the customer and they are in a service industry, it does not make you any better than they are.
Not that I think that I am any better, but for instance, I prefer the easy rapport of the Ryanair staff who introduced themselves as Tinky-Winky, La-la and Po and engaged in good natured banter over the intercom with the pilot and co-pilot to the amusement of the passengers. You had the feeling that real people were dealing with you as a real person.

 | Sundiszno (30) 03/31/2004 | I've flown Lufthansa three times that I can remember. All of the flights were OK, but service was a bit on the crisp side. Food was not particularly good. Aircraft were clean.

 | kaja9583om (0) 08/10/2000 | Generally good service. I don't like that they contract out shorter local flights to sketchier carriers. But trans-atlantic flights are well run with efficient boarding, decent food, and entertainment, plus usually on time.
