Never again.........I have rented from Enterprise on three occasions and have been disappointed each time. If I had an alternative company to choose then I would, but my employer has an account set up with them. The last car that I rented was filthy, smelled like smoke, had sticky residue on cup holders, and to top it all - was not the size car that I reserved. I made a reservation, 2 weeks in advance, for a full-size car. They had compact cars and SUVs. Keep in mind that I was fixing to go on a 350 mile trip so fuel mileage and comfort were essential. The compact was a Ford Focus that didn't have cruise control so I wasn't taking it. I had no choice but to go with a Ford Expedition. The employees went on and on about how it was a free upgrade. Whatever. V8 engine, driving that beast to Memphis and back. Thanks for nothing. I have sent formal complaints but they went unanswered.

Reserved a full-size car from them at the Phoenix Airport but they gave us a Nissan Xterra SUV at the same price. The staff was very professional, friendly and efficient. The car was super clean and nice and the cost was reasonable too. Picking up the car was easy and the dropoff was a snap. No surprises except that the whole experience was fantastic. In PHX, we won't rent from anyone else.

We rented from Enterprise at the San Antonio Airport. The staff was was great and they worked with us in everyway that you could want. We had requested a child seat that had to be installed and we waited 20 minutes for that and that was the only wait we had. We had read about the bad experiences that others had had with the other companies at San Antonio but none of that was true with Enterprise in San Antonio. We will rent with them again.

Words cannot describe how bad they really are. The worst rental company ever! They refused to help us when our car broke down in Colorado Springs. It is now Sunday and we are told that we have to wait until THURSDAY for someone to look at the car! Unbelievable. And this was the local company. Corporate refused to help us at all, and not even a "manager" could speak English comprehensibility.

NEVER AGAIN!

I've used Enterprise quite a few times and think my experience with them was just fine. They picked me up and dropped me off, which was very efficient. When I was under 25 they waived the underage fee for me, which was excellent and saved me over $200.00!

In short: Very helpful and flexible agent at the reservation counter, and immediate correction upon dispute on charges.
We rented a midsize car in Las Vegas airport. Our original reservation was with Dollar Rent-a-car, but the Dollar reservation counter was at least 1 hour wait upon our arrival, so we went to the Enterprise counter with our Dollar reservation to see whether they will honor the Dollar rental rates. Enterprise not only honored the agreement, but actually beat the price by $2 a day! Upon our return, we noticed a discrepancy in the total bill, and was very pleased that the attendent at the return counter was able to immediate correct the issue and gave us full credit back.

Our previous experience with Enterprise has always been positive. This recent trip just confirmed yet again that there is not reason to rent a car from a different company unless there is a huge price difference!

Me, my wife and my daughter were treated very rudly by the branch manager(Shaue or Shawe)in Punta Gorda, Fl. We rent cars at that location at least three times a year, But we've never been treated so rude. My wife always rents the car with my credit card, I even asked the employee that picked her up if she can pay with my card. He said sure, no problem. Even the gentelmen next to the manager told my wife it was fine, but she told my wife she would not do it. I later spoke to her on the phone and she didnt even apologize for her employes telling me it was ok. Later when Me and my four year old daughter arrived, my little girl incently said hello to her and she did not even respond therefor hurting her feelings. Finally when I was checking out the car with the mean manager she did everything in a hurry and didnt even explain the contract. Conclusion me and my family all strongly agree we will call the branch to see if she still works there, if so we will be renting a car with Budget or Hertz. If she's not, we will gladly continue to rent all of our cars there.

Yours truly,

Unhappy customers.

The rental car was fine, but being on business, I really wanted a GPS since I didn't know the area. They wouldn't give me one and actually made up a bogus excuse to prohibit me from getting one like, "15 of them were returned to us yesterday all broken, so we're in short supply unless you explicitly reserved one". The probability that happens is highly unlikely....how do you break a GPS? and 15?

Last week I rented a car from Enterprise (O'Hare). I must say it was the most positive rental car experience I have ever had. The car was clean and well maintained. All 5 people I interacted with were friendly and helpful. A cheerful greeter apologized for a delay (5 minutes or less wait time) from a small line, gave out chilled Dasani waters, and went over detailed maps. Service agents patiently helped me pick out my car, reiterated directions out of Chicago, and checked the car in quickly and without any claims of damage. When I asked about a gong I saw in the lobby, I was told it was left by a customer and travelers are invited to bang the gong to improve bad moods etc.

I have been renting from Enterprise 4 or 5 times. One time I had an accident. In many instances got great discounts. Never was pointed out to any damage as a fault on my side. They also picked me up and dropped me off (about 8 miles) for free (tip). They upgraded cars for free on many occasions. They are not perfect, but I was satisfied so far. Unlike many people here, I do not think there is anything wrong with making profits #1 for rental companies.

Had a car to be provided on June 13 as of June 14th still left without a car in an unfamiler town. Customer service 800 is absolutly no help as they can not get you a car only the office assigned per the reservation can do that. Ended up going to Avis who will be here in ten minutes to get me. They price matched with a nicer car even though this was not their service issue.

DO NOT RENT FROM THESE GUYS!!! unless you plan to do a 5 star quality inspection with them and run over the car with a fine toothed comb. Oh yeah, and don't forget to document the car with photos- the whole works. They will slam you for any minor detail wrong when the car is returned. I was a first time customer just renting a van for a routine job. I took care of the van to the best of my ability, and am 100% positive that I did nothing to the van while in my care. Upon returning the van, I was brought to the attention of a very minor ding in the front left panel. By "minor", I am talking about about the size of a dime, and no paint scratched at all! So now I am supposedly responsible for fixing this little ding. My bet is they are going to charge an exuberant amount for this ridiculous detail. It's a freaking Van, not a Mercedes! Yeah, maybe it was my mistake that I inspected the van casually and signed that 4 page paper with fine print that you'd need a lawyer to understand, but I have had a horrible first time buyer experience with this company. This company is a joke!!!

Rented a car in El Paso in late October. Got a great rate but wasn't until we turned the car in that I understood why. When we rented the car it was dark - around 9:00 pm. The desk clerk made sure I was aware that by declining their insurance that I was responsible for the car. This has never been a problem before so I agreed. Then he asked for my insurance company's name. Never been asked that before. Upon checking out the car we looked it over and found no damage. Upon returning it at around 7:00 am, still pretty dark, the attendant was pointing out dents on the roof before we were even able to get out of the car. Sure enough there were maybe three small dents in the roof. I am sure they were there before we got the car but did not notice them. I still wouldn't have noticed if the attendant had not pointed them out after driving it to a well lit part of the lot. She even remarked that they had a history of hail damage on the car before I rented it. Long story short, they have filed a claim with my insurance company which I expect I will have to honor, but I certainly feel like I was set up. I will never rent from Enterprise again and recommend that, if anyone else does, especially at El Paso,to be very leery. Check out that car with a fine tooth comb.

Too bad you can't put negative stars on this rating.
We came in to pick up a car and while another associate was showing a car parked next to our vehicle, the customer opened the door and dented my vehicle. I understand the company provides insurance to the customer, but if your associates do not care for other customer's vehicles parked on your lot, then I consider that negligence. The fact that damage is not a concern to your employees when it comes to enterprise vehicles, is not surprising since they know the corporation is paying for it. Why should it be a concern for the associate right? Well if the people at this business cared they would understand that the company is only loosing more money with this type of negligent behavior. I called to see who the associate was and was only greeted with a long hold followed by much sarcasm fom the manager named Teddy Mack. This was on November 8, 2007 @ 4:06PM. This company should understand that customers come to rent cars because they've been in accidents, not to have their vehicles damaged by their associates. Along with the damage, the information given to us by the manager about our rental was not correct. By trying to upgrade the rental, the same associate will only have it returned because the Chattsworth branch was nice enough to respond with correct information about our rental. This will be the last rental we have with this company, and especially at this branch where customer satisfaction is obviously not a priority. The two associates were a man named John, and the manager Teddy Mack. I will be sure to notify everyone I know not to rent from this company, but if they must they need to completely avoid the Northidge, CA branch.
Its unacceptable that people who are so inconsiderate are managers, and that this company's values have gone down so low with customer satisfaction at the bottom of priorities. It doesn't matter whether you own the car because in the end if you don't take care of your customers your business will go no where.
This company only cares to make money, and if your vehicle is damaged by other customers with associates right next to them, they can care less. They will give you the wrong information while trying to upgrade your rental so they can make money.

I have used Enterprise since 1999 and always took damage waiver every time I rented one of their car. I used it 10+ times in different states and never had a problem. They would upgrade my car at no charge when no compact cars were available. Compare to others rental companies I have used in the past, Enterprise is to me the best quality/price/service around.

I only gave Enterprise 1 star because there was no lower rating.
My car was hit and was in the shop. Rented a car through the other guy's insurance company. Enterprise had no car on the lot which was of comparable size to the one the insurance would pay for. They told me to take the compact car (supposed to get a standard size) and call in every few minutes or they would call me when they had a standard size car available for me. Six hours later I call in and they say they have a standard size car. I drive in to get the car. They told me it was there since the morning and they were waiting for me to call them to say I wanted it. So far as I know I'm not a mind reader. Anyway I find out the only reason I was getting the car was because the guy who they had given it during the morning didn't want it so I could have it.
Three days later they call to tell me the car I'm driving has been sold and they want me to take it in and get another car. I ask if they have another standard size car ready for me and they chat me up to believe they did. I go in at 9:00AM on the dot and they tell me they will give me an SUV. I tell them I don't want an SUV because I cannot afford to feed that kind of vehicle with gas prices at $3.50/gallon. So the rep tells me to drive about 5 miles to the other Enterprise because according to her computer they have another car of standard size available. I get there and an hour and a half later the rep gets to me after being with the customer who walked in right before me. I go out to the lot and he hands me the keys to a dirty, smelly, NASTY!!! Kia Spectra. I had to take it because there was nothing else. Apparently, that was the only car left on the whole lot...besides SUVs. I assume they're not taking my calls because before I stopped there on my way home I called and was put on hold for 8 minutes so I decided to stop in only to find them all patronizing me with the phone beeping off the hook and no customers in the office. She tells me in all her audacity that this car is a mid size car but if I was not satisfied she would call me as soon as anything else came in. (According to Edmunds.com, this car is a compact car). Please make sure you read this with all the attitude I was getting at this point. I get home and I have to take a shower because the car had left me smelling like a linebacker after the Super Bowl. The interior of the car was once gray but is now stained with I-refrain-from-guessing-what. I called them from home at about 12:00 and was told they had a car coming in so I asked them to drop it off because as you know they advertise that they drop off and pick up. The guy gave me attitude as if delivering and dropping off cars was not a description of his job. I only live 4 miles from their office. I called again at 2:00 pm and was put on hold for 10 minutes before I hung up. At 3:30pm I am going to call the insurance company to make them take care of getting me a car because at this point...3rd car in six days and all with me driving back and forth is quite enough. I will never recommend Enterprise to anyone and I will never rent a car from them again! Be warned, they make you feel like they care but when they actually have to take care of the problems they create themselves they make you fell like you're pestering them.

I rented an enterprise a couple of times and was almost not a problem. Whatever we have an accident (just once), or have a long-term car repair, they let rent equal size of the car we have without a charge. Just is that renting off airport was not a great idea since the car is somewhat dirty and smelled like smoke once with a Pontiac Grand Am. Chevolet Malibu was the one they rented me after a car accident (was OK).  Of my Toyota Camry in the accident was trashed. So, Chevolet Malibu was kept for more than a month and no charge as the insurance paid for it and was OK (That time I rented after the accident in Houston on the day Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans and during Hurricane Rita). I still think renting the airport is good idea if you get the chance to rent enterprise again.

I rented a car on thursday for 2 days at Enterprise in Parsippany, NJ. I came to pick up the car at about 11:30 the rep took such a long time that I got the car finally at around 12:50. When I came to return the car on Saturday I found out that the location was already closed at 12:00 so parked the car in the designated are and dropped the key in the key drop box. Later I was shocked to see that Enterprise has charged my credit card for 5 days of rental. When I called them to correct this . They simply refused to refund any amount to me. It was horrible experience I don't think I will ever go back to Enterprise.

(For all those reviewing Enterprise and complaining about being charged for repairs... try getting the Damage Waiver. It may sound like a lot but just start figuring it into the cost of the rental because these companies are out to make money. They are a business after all. I'd say that the $22.99 a day is much easier on the wallet than a $500 to $1000 bill later.)
We rented from Enterprise the last time we went to Orlando, FL. They were fantastic!! Even gave us a free upgrade from a Jeep Grand Cherokee to a Ford Expidition. Nice. Customer service was outstanding and fast. Would absolutely rent from them again.

Enterprise SUXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!! I have rented with Enterprise many times before. I recently had an accident in my own vehicle. The insurance company liable for the damage repairs, and claims assured me that I could be provided with a rental unit while my vehicle was in the shop. I went to enterprise thinking ( foolishly ) that I was going to leave a $50 deposit (cash) and the deposit would be returned to me after the return of the car. I was also offered the $20 a day insurance, and opted to not agree on it until the insurance co. was contacted to see if they would cover costs. Before I left, they had me sign, and initial a contract, and insisted I give them my debit card, so they could charge a dollar on it,,,,,,"just for their records." I told the store manager specifically,,'DO NOT charge anything else on that debit card, just the dollar, and she assured me they wouldn't, and upon my return w/ the vehicle, I would recieve my $51 dollars back. *** Take heed... there is small print. The insurance I didn't want to pay for, or need according to state laws,,,,I was charged. They charged my debit card without any advance notice, without any friendly reminder. They didn't even call to try to arrange payment of balance due. I know! Balance due? Because the contract I initialed in the begining, when I told the woman I didn't want their overpriced insurance, showed I initialed for the insurance. You know how they get you, initial here, here, and here and sign and date the bottom. They don't tell you there is a 4 page contract you just sign that allows Enterprise to Royally Screw you, and screw you good. NEVER give Enterprise your debit/credit cards..... EVER!!!

Luxry car smelled like smoke when picked up. They'll charge you $75 if you smoke in it. Solution: They came out and sprayed Fabreeze on the floor mats. Three of them come out and smell the car and tell me that they do not smell it. 3 of my passengers comfirmed the smell was very strong (it wasn't just me). Car was not washed. I asked to have it washed, and was to made to feel like I was being unreasonable. I think the just went out and sprayed water on it. It was still dirty, but wet now. They work on commision, so it's kinda like dealing with used car sales persons. They will treat you like gold up until your commited to the deal.

I will never use them again. I will try some other companies.

Enterprise is BIG on appearances. They are VERY friendly and appear to be customer oriented. That is the exact opposite of the fact. They want to make you THINK that the customer is #1, but the fact is, as with most companies, the $$$$$ is #1. They will scam you any way they can, and smile at you the entire time. Yes, they are VERY good at finding the little dents and dings when you return the car. And if you didn't opt for their VERY expensive damage waivers ( usually over $30 a day in addition to the rental rate ), you are about to be out MAJOR bucks. Beware...the locations away from the major airports seldom have the car you want in stock. Even if you reserve the car in advance, don't count on it actually being there when you go to pick it up. Be prepared to be "upsold" when you arrive.

I used Enterprise when my car was in the shop and I found their customer service to be great, and the price was reasonable. While I had the rental, a stray cat climbed under my hood, and got stuck in the fan belt. I had to call animal control and eventually had to cut the belt. Enterprise had no problem picking up the expense of having the belt replaced, which was a nice relief. However, I don't think the cat was feeling too good for the few remaining hours of its life.

Ok I guess someone made an honest mistake. I called there so called 24 hour road side assistance for which I had to pay for and never got the promised refund. I had to wait 1:45 min for the towing truck to get to me. and now the worst part they send me a $400 bill stating there was a dent on the door(which was never there at least before it got towed). I hope my experience will stop you from renting from these rip-offs.

I have had terrible experiences with Enterprise, who rents cars through all the local car dealers when you are having body work done. They always give you a car with a little tiny dent that you probably won't notice, and then try to browbeat you into paying several hundred dollars to fix it when you bring the car back. I managed to cut the amount in half by sheer stubbornness and then gave up and paid it -- but I would rather walk than do business with them again!
