This was better than the first film. The villian is far more interesting and the character development is good as well. The effects, however, are what make the film.

As a fan, it is hard, or more accurately put, it is difficult to like something you have come to...like. Spiderman 2, much like X-Men 2 is pretty much a filler. A film that moves the timeline along within the story, and builds on old characters, bringing in some new ones to keep it "fresh". Action will always be a part of this character's story, as will the struggle of one - being torn between his private & public life. The character of Spiderman, will continue to thrive as it has in its comic book format, with its plentiful cache of storyline to tell. It will continue to thrive even after mediochre representations of it, much like this one, is made on its behalf.

A sequel that definitely lived up to the hype and original.
Jeremy00081 09/13/2006
This is better than the original, but nothing extrordinary. I give it 3 and a half stars for having one of the coolest villains ever.
joshua_01 12/30/2005
this one is more interesting then the first one.

one of the best superhero movies ever made. I found this tobe much improved over the first movie. In this film, Peter Parker (AKA SpiderMan) Is in college and has his own apartment. His new enemy is Doc Ock who has metal claws. it's up to spiderman to stop the menace. I am making the plot short because it's complex. this film can be for all comic book fans or for people who like good action and a good story.

A decent Superhero movie with a little action and a lot of humor.

A very great movie but for some reason I liked the first movie alot better. I guess when I saw the first Spider-man I wasn't expecting much but then after I saw it, I loved it! In this movie I was expecting to much I guess. Still gets 5 stars though.

A good movie. I think it is not as good as the first one, but I definately enjoyed it and don't regret spending my money on it. I'm looking forward to Spider Man 3

I thought it was deriviative of the Batman movies, the story and characters were plodding and overly brooding. Big visual special effects like cars flying through windows have become so commonplace that they don't produce thrills that are intended. It could have used a few laughs and a more charismatic villian.

a lot better than Spider-man 1

Great!.Why do I have to wait three years !
Elf_ears13 11/16/2004
I think it was even better than the first one, but they were both great!

I just got back from seeing Spider-Man 2 and it was very good. The danger of waiting to see a movie like this is all the hype and nothing can stand up to that. That said it was not as great as I was led to believe. Couple of scenes seemed a bit over the top and out of place. The rain drops keep falling on my head bit, I could have done with out. Also M.J not appearing during the death march, I mean wedding march was more than a little predictable. A lot of action and many great special effects. No acting Oscars for this but the cast pulled it off. So the wait begins for Spidey 3, do you believe in Hob Goblins?

I really enjoyed this film, but I liked the original better.

This one was so cool and in ways it was better than the first one.
WarGamefan93 09/11/2004
I went to see this movie and wow! Spiderman 1 is still good. It's sequel actually has more action. Plus Harry and M.J actually knew who was behind the mask.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a nit-picker when it comes to films and the beginning of Spider-Man 2 was extremely slow in paces, then I understood the screen writers objective as they were trying to establish the conflict of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. To take a well known story and characters from a comic book by adapting it to the big screen is not easy, take a look at the first X-Men, Catwoman and those horrid Batman Returns, Batman Forever and goodness knows how many in that tawdary series. So really and truly I take my hat off to the screenwriters for a good script, the casting director for spot-on casting, even the special effects looked better than before, still cartoonish, but a big improvement overall.

Loved Spiderman 2! Saw it in imax with my dad, and I loved it. Spidey is awesome, and he finally got his girl. A good lesson to be learned, and a happy ending.

Just as exciting and entertaining as the first film. Spider-Man 2 definitely lived up to the first film, and in many ways surpassed it (especially in mixing drama and comedy). The Spider-Man films do not seem to be going downhill in quality like so many previous superhero sagas have. Let's hope that the upcoming addition to the series keeps it that way.

I wanted to go with 4 and a half, but since I don't have that choice, I'll be generous and say five. Really, I liked it a lot better than the first oen. *spoiler* The best parts were when different people (Harry, MJ) found out who Spiderman really was... I like that psychological aspect in this one. After the previews, I really wanted to know what Harry would do after he saw Peter under the mask.

Very good movie and excellent sequel... one of the few action type guy movies that a girl can truly enjoy too
jaywilton 07/22/2004
For good vs. evil, special effects and the cast,Spiderman II is tough to beat.

I think the movie is not as good as it is advertised on tv or radio. The comics and the series on tv were great but the movie is s***. ***DESTROY EVERYTHING***
kolby1973 07/17/2004
Way better than the first one, but still does not deserve a 5 star rating. One of my favorite aspects about Spiderman 2 is all the drama, and I mean there was so much drama in this movie that I was almost beginning to wonder why anyone would consider it an action, comic book type movie. But the action finally hit the screen and it was extremely awesome. Tobey McGuire is perfect as the push-over Peter, and of course Kirsten Dunst is always as perfect as ever. I didn't really care for the villian as he was too human and not monster enough, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. I would definately say go watch this movie, I recommend it.

After the disappointing first feature, Spider-Man 2 comes along and smashes all expectations of it by being almost as great as it can be. As a sequel, its like The Wrath of Khan to Star Trek's Motion Picture. The special effects in the movie's creatively-inspired action sequences simply have to be seen to believed. There is also lots of great humor--running gags and references to both other Marvel comics and the original Spider-Man TV series. Kirsten Dunst is absoultely beautiful as Mary Jane Watson. And, the actor playing J. Johna Jameson has his character down perfect (and has one of the funniest sequences of the film). There's is also a great speech from Aunt May about how the world needs heroes and good guys. The cliffhanger ending guarentees a sequel, and the ending on a whole is much more optimistic and upbeat than the ending of the first film. In short, Spider-Man 2 is an incredible cinematic achievement.

The best comic book movie ever. The story and characters were WAY better than the first film. The villan (Doc Ock) was cooler and more better-looking compared to the villan in the first movie. I HIGHLY reccommend this film wether you're a Spider-Man fan or not.
forgotten hero 07/06/2004
With that ending you're pretty much promised a sequel. I mean with Harry's current situation and the introduction of Dr.Conners (The Lizard) you can almost see the next villian terrorizing the town.
freebird_0128 07/05/2004
A great installment in the superhero series. I would even say it was better than the first movie. Fun and charming, it had better flow and held the attention better than the first Spider-man movie did. Great special effects and a good storyline, Tobey Maguire has the role of Peter Parker down to an art. I hope he continues to play the masked hero since this film left the doors wide open for a third. Definitely worth seeing.

(Warning: Contains spoilers) Very fun movie. This takes place about 2 years after the first movie left off: Peter's in college, and is having a rough time balancing his normal life with his web-slinging job, and he realizes his need to set his priorties straight. Personally I think it might have been a bit too soon for Spider-Man to unmask himself to some people, but I guess it needed to be done. Either way, it was worth watching.
