An ill-nourished, illiterate trio of peasant girls report a vision, which is promptly and deliberately manipulated by a venal clergy and a fascist state. Two die shortly after and the survivor, said Lucia enters a convent where she is kept in isolation for 57 years and allowed to write or discuss the supposed revelations only under the strictest clerical supervision. This was a poor frightened child, who regardless of what she saw or did not see, was exploited and abused for the rest of her life. She deserved better. Anyone does.

I don't know what Lucia and the other children saw or were convinced they saw. For arguments sake, say something like this did happen. What would the reason for it be if the messages and warnings were kept secret? And then the messenger is punished with a virtual prison sentence. The whole thing makes no sense. I feel sorry for this poor woman.

Sister Lucia(97) was a highly respected woman among Catholics, but lived her life out of the public eye. As a child in Fatima, she witnessed the Virgin Mary speaking to her. She was given visions that predicted World War II and the attempted assasination of Pope John Paul II in 1981.
