Payton has/had a lot of individual talent, but my biggest criticism of him is that he could not make his teammates better (aside from throwing Kemp and endless stream of alley-oops). His style of play tended to take others out their games and his jump shot was below average for an NBA guard.

Offense and defense is the name of his game. A great one-on-one defender who can shut down the opponent and can set the pace for the transition attack. All he needs is a championship.
