Compassionate without coddling. She cared a great deal about people, but cared even more about letting them stand on their own feet.

My mother had every one of these qualities: dedication, wisdom, strength, wit/humor, compassion, warmth, gentle touch, beauty,
charm, and purity. I have truly been blessed.

Not being "compassionate" doesn't mean she didn't "care". But she didn't coddle us, and didn't let us make any excuses for ourselves. I may not know much about parenthood, but I do know that being a mom means not always being your kid's "best friend", but being a hardass once in a while. Teaching your kids to "suck it up" once in a while is a valuable lesson.

My Mom is pretty compassionate.A lot of times she makes me see someone elses side of something when I get too judgemental.She's always helped the down and out or unfortunate-even when they may not be very thankful.The only thing she's not compassionate about is crickets (indoors)!

My mother was campassionate, but she didn't hesitate to knock me upside the head if I needed it. This is where I first learned how to duck.
