I moved from Nebraska to Maryland in June and my move with Mayflower was easy. My consultant at the beginning walked me through the entire process and explained all of the fees (NO HIDDEN FEES)!!!I packed my own things and they did the rest. The two movers who packed up my boxes and furniture also let me know what was going on the entire time. My final mover was keeping updated on the approximate date he would be at my new location from the time he started his trip.

Used Coastal Moving and Storage of Pensacola FL. Not by choice, they were selected by the Navy for a military move to a new assignment. Good:Most of the stuff got here, the packers (one day packing) worked quickly; the loaders showed 2 days later and worked quickly as well. They delivered on the day promised.Bad: The packers were supposed to numerically tag everything but overlooked several items. They were separately tagged by the loaders. Even though I had about 10,000 # of goods, the company wanted to "efficiently" move things so it sat on the 18 wheeler for a couple of extra days Florida in July) while 2 other shipments were loaded (warning! warning!). When they arrived at the new apartment in VA, they realized (I had warned them) that the 18 wheeler could not approach the loading dock. This happened in FL as well, so on the FL end, they loaded a 20' truck, unloaded onto the 18 wheeler, unloaded the big truck into a large U Haul truck in VA, then finally unloaded to us. In other words, 3 loadings and unloadings (warning! warning!). So, they were delayed 3 hours on the VA end by needing to secure a rental truck. As the items came in, a couple of cheaper pieces of furniture were damaged beyond usefulness and were trashed. They dinged and scratched the aparment and hallway walls. The good furniture had small scratches and dents (whenever possible, the driver said "that will come out"). An expensive lampshade was brought up not in a packing box and totally crushed. Two brass floor lamps had items bent out of shape and a missing part. Several items are still missing. They started to unload items with someone else's name on them (one of the other shipments in the same big truck) and they would have left them had we not pointed out the error. This happened a few times. Now we have to go through the claims process. The interaction became somewhat heated at the end of the day, and the driver walked out without giving us copies of the lading documents.

I've used Mayflower twice in the past two years and both times have been terrific. Most recently was this past week. I called a couple weeks ago and asked for an estimate. We scheduled a time for a sales rep to come by, and while the guy wasn't all that impressive/flashy, he was friendly and moved through the house quickly to take the inventory on his handheld machine. I asked for an estimate for packing and moving. For a 1500 square foot, three bedroom house, the quote was $1790. He said he thought that might even be conservative and that they could go over, but that was as close as he could get. He said to give them about a week's notice for a weekend move and 4 days notice for a weekday move. I appreciated his honesty.I ended up hiring them and on the day they were supposed to pack me, a team of four guys showed up exactly on time. They walked through the house, took note of what was going and what wasn't going, and got to work. Fifteen minutes later, four more people from their crew showed up (most of this crew are related to each other one way or another). Turns out another job got canceled and they wanted the work- no additional expense to me. They had my whole house packed up in just over 90 minutes, leaving the bed for me to sleep in that night and the TV hooked up.The next morning they showed up a few minutes early with their whole crew, and began moving stuff into the truck. They showed up at my house at 8 a.m. and by noon they were done- they had loaded the truck, moved me to the new house in North County, assembled any furniture they'd taken apart, and hung all the clothing in the wardrobe boxes. The final bill was $1640- they beat the estimate by $150! The team was courteous, friendly, and extremely professional. Not a single item was broken or lost. They even repacked boxes that I had never unpacked from a previous move, which had been falling apart. I would recommend Mayflower to anyone in the San Diego area. I've read (and experienced) horror stories with other moving companies. Mayflower is two for two in my book.

It is scary reading these reviews. I have hired Mayflower to move me from the Kansas City area to St. Louis. Has anyone at all had a good experience? I read reviews of oher companies and they are the same - all bad. The only good ratings I read are evidently very small companies that only exist "locally". I've checked against the phone book to no avail. Where are the good National movers. Am I going to be sorry I hired Mayflower which used to be, at least, the best.

I would give them 0 stars. Mayflower stinks. My mother signed a contract that had TBA for a delivery time. Yes, she shouldn't have, but what did she know having only moved once in her life? Her contract does not even have an order number on it. Then they moved the delivery time THREE times. Every time she called to ask where it was she was given another excuse (lie), such as van is not full, no drivers, gas is too high, etc. She has been sleeping on the floor for 32 days. They give NO answers on the phone and are so rude. I would NEVER use Mayflower again.

We had a very stressful move with this company. They didn't keep their word and we had several items lost or broken. Several items were thrown into boxes without proper packing. Damage was done to our home. The corporate company was awful and people who said they had filed claims to "search" for our missing items were found to have done nothing for 2 months!! Our settlement claim was a battle of the wills and nearly took us to a lawsuit. They brought in un-uniformed, gang tatooed packers who told us they had been in and out of jail for years.

Used one of the NY franchises 11 years ago ad paid for additional insurance. Moved from NY to NJ. Because of the way they loaded the truck, they broke my computer desk in half and admitted it. I put in a claim for 1/2 of the replacement value ($75) because it was a used desk. THEY REFUSED TO PAY EVEN THOUGH I PAID FOR INSURANCE!!! I wrote to Shame on You, Consumer Affairs, BBB and sent them copies. THey were suddenly very cooperative and offered to give me the money and asked me if I would recant my complaints. Yeah, right.

I used Mayflower to move from NJ to TX. It was a scary experience; one of the drivers stole money out of my purse. When police arrived they found out that two out of the three movers had warrants out for their arrest; one of them had charges for assaulting a police officer. What ever happened to background checks??? Needless, to say the experience was nervewrecking and pitiful to see two men getting arrested on my front lawn. To top it off, I purchased the extra insurance for damaged or lost goods. When I go to file the claim, they tell my my table leaf and television were broken prior to the move. Word of advice, DONT TRUST MAYFLOWER with your move.

I used Mayflower to move across the country. There service was awful. They completely lost two huge boxes of stuff, damaged or completely broke 90% of the furniture items, and dented and scratched my car. The driver, Charles Vornes, and his crew were rude, careless, and incompetent! Never use Mayflower to move. I have moved two other times across the country and used other major moving companies and never have had a single item lost or damaged. Mayflower has horrible customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They did a good job recently moving a relative of mine from FLA. to NY.She is very fussy,so if she was pleased, they must be good. She said they really took their time wrapping everything carefully, and her only complaint was that they delivered it a day or so later than they said.

I had mayflower move me across the country and it was the worst moving experience I've ever had. Their movers were not at all careful with my things and ended up breaking several fragile pieces. I caught them standing on my boxes at somepoint!

Moved four times with this comapny. Each time my disappointment, worsening. Two times, long distance and two times within 500 miles. Each time things were broken and this last time, huge mirror over fireplace didn't make it the 2000 miles. The packers left it there and two months later, to the day, I received it after many weeks of emailing them and finally writing their headquarters. This last driver, Jeff, was wonderful and clean and professional in every way, but somehow didn't oversee the packers leave this 5' x 3' mirror, staring at them all day in the living room. Will not use them ever again. Gave them four chances to improve, but to no avail. Sorry to have to write all this but am trying to spare, others some pain and anxiety.

I am a professional move coordinator and we've had the best experience with Mayflower. While some Mayflower agents may not be good, the ones in my city are decent.
