i'd rather play games like men of valor of San andreas than GameCube. Games like mario and sonic have no interest of the past. You can learn the things of games like Men of Valor.

PS2 has Solid Snake. You may not want to consider him a franchise character, but he is and he's great.

I beg you to see the ClockTower video games. They blow Nintendo (Which I love still) out of the water. You want to see good characters.......See Alyssa Hamilton from Clocktower 3 and the rest of the dynamic crew!

Nintendo has been around for over twenty years and that's part of the reason why it has characters that could be considered classic. Nintendo made a huge mistake by selling the rights to the Final Fantasy series to Sony.

This is the true weakness of the PS2 and X-Box in my eyes. Without the masterful franchises of Shigeru Miyamoto (Donkey Kong, Mario), HAL Labs (Kirby, Super Smash), Pokemon Inc. (Pokemon), and other Nintendo developers and first-parties, the PS2 and X-Box are quite crippled. Sony made a huge mistake in letting two enjoyable and creative franchises--Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon--get away to the third-party. As a result, Sony now only has the T-rated Jak series. As for Microsoft, they have no good franchise characters after the finanical failure of Blinx. Nintendo's franchises, on the other hand, not only have awesome characters--but have tons of gameplay, great graphics and much more.
