I love the spring when I can sleep with the windows open and love waking up to the birds..except that one pesky woodpecker where I used to live...he was always pounding away right outside my bedroom window. Dont miss him! :-)

That depends on if you're waking up or going to sleep.

Yeah, ok, but I draw the line at the woodpecker who's been trying to get a core sample out of the side of the building for the last week.

Their morning song can be stirringly beautiful...unless you've been plagued, as I often have, with insomnia during the night and have been lying in bed for hours attempting to snatch at least of few moments of oblivion in between the tossing and turning and staring up at the ceiling (I'd have given up the idea of getting a few hours oblivion at around 3am). When I used to work days, and had to be up at the crack of dawn, the first notes of morning bird-song indicated that I had lost the battle and was going to have to soldier my way through the day on multiple cups of coffee and maybe one or 2 (or 3) No-Doz.

This would be ideal. That is, if there weren't so many psychos in the world compelling me to lock my doors and windows regardless of the season.

I like to go out on the screened porch with a cup of coffee and listen to the birds sing. Sometimes the neighborhood owl assists in the serenade.

It's great to hear birds singing in the morning, alot better sound to wake up to than say I don't know, the fricking alarm clock.
