06/21/2008 | newports are pretty good. i prefer marlboro smooths over them, but they still taste pretty good and i like the nicotine rush that accompanies the first few puffs. ive been smoking for 5 years now and throughout that time ive only smoked reds, rollies when i was broke, and newports. then smooths rolled along and ive been smoking them ever since.

05/16/2008 | I love me a fresh pack of 'ports, about the only cigarrettes i can chain smoke and stand the taste. they numb your throat too, and personally, i love the very end, best part. Also one of the highest nicotine cigs ive smoked, next to bull-somethings and KOOLs. that being said chain smoke half a pack or so a day for two weeks and enjoy spittin up that blood, which not only cost you a couple years of your life but $70 too. Fresh ones also smell better in my preference. Older packs or stale porties i cant stand and think they taste like a mix of fiberglass, ammonia, and catpiss. I prefer the regs over 100's mostly cus they look "cooler" and the filter is shorter, though the actual cigarrette is like 1/4cm shorter too. Also i noticed the 100's seem to have a dryer, more blatant taste. I never understood the black people connotation they hold tho. But hell, fuck cigs altogether; smoke weed.

03/25/2008 | with newports you get good bang for your buck. round here u can get um for $4.30 pack. THe fiberglass in um cuts up your throat a bit so the menthol can get deeper into you and numb your throat so you dont even feel it and you get a bigger kick from the menthol going deeper. i smoke these when i have a soar throat so i wont feel it. great ammount of nicotine kick, gets you going. i dont like menthols that much but these are good. 4 stars.

02/21/2008 | These are overrated, overpriced, and over-marketed. They are extremely harsh, probably the strongest filtered cigarette you can find. The draw is so harsh you hardly notice the menthol, let alone any tobacco taste. Newports arent my cup of tea.

12/31/2007 | Absolutely horrible, granted they are the strongest filtered cigarette you can get which is just about all they have going for them. All Newports are menthol but something tells me this is for strength purposes and not taste. They taste really nasty, like smoking a stale, bland menthol with fiberglass. I've heard these have fiberglass in them and I believe it because you can actually taste it. Also if your not used to them they will make you what I call cigarette sick, a nasty headache accompanied with naseua and a sour stomach. If your a really heavy smoker who is simply going for a really strong buzz or you have no other choice, then go for it. But if you want good menthol taste then I would reccomend Kools or Marlboro Menthol.

08/02/2007 | when i first started smoking i smoked practically anything. i live in pa so cigs are pretty cheap. but all of my friends and their friends smoke newport. there are rumors that they are targetted for blacks but i smoke em and no some spanish ppl who smoke them. these are the best cigs and menthol cigs so they pretty much kick ass. ive also noticed that the cigg itself has a bolder print with a line in green and printed Newport and the outside of the filter is more cooler looking. i will always stick to these and plus look around for the buy 2 get 1 free(100s) and Lorillard toboaco company you will always be better than any other cigarette until this world ends. kool and marlboro menthol dont have that real menthol taste. hey if i wanna smoke a candy cane ill smoke kool or marlboro menthol smooth but if i want that real rich menthol ciggerette with still noticable tobacco ill stick to NEWPORT!

These are not harsh and are a million times better than marlboro smooths that are way to minty. The smooths are not smooth to me at all and newport will always be my favorirte menthol cigarette.

10/26/2006 | When I first started smoking, I HATED Newports. I thought menthol cigarettes in general were gross and the fact that they hurt my throat turned me off to them. I only smoked Camel Turkish Silvers. Then when I became friends with people that exclusively smoked Newports, I got used to them and gradually switched. Now 90% of the time I am smoking Newports. They have the BEST taste hands down and the menthol is just strong enough for me. Once a month I will switch it up and get something like Camel Exotics, Camel Wides, Camel Turkish Jades, Camel Menthol, even Parliaments when I'm really bored. I always wind up going right back to Newports. If your looking for an alternative to Newports I would highly reccomend Camel Menthol or Turkish Jades. Camel Menthol are not as strong, taste good but not as good as Newports, they are also smoother. Turkish Jades taste like a Camel and are just as strong if not stronger than Newports. Newports are the greatest and i wish they werent so bad for me :(

Besides that they have the smoothest and perfect amount of minty flavour, just enough to lick your lips afterwards and taste it
I prefer the shorts to the longs, the both have the same amount of nicotine anyways

11/23/2005 | I started smoking on newports (not lights or mediums just straight newports) and they are not that harsh, the reason they feel like your cutting up your throat is because you are, there is fiberglass in newports. i wouldnt smoke them every day but sometimes i like to grab a pack to remind me of old times.

04/04/2005 | these are good menthol cigs but they are harsh as hell, it takes a while to get use to them and sometimes it feels like they cut up your throat but once you have a couple you get use to them. I have yet to try marb menthols which will be my next venture but as far as im concenrned these are pretty good menthol cigs, i gave them a 4 because i havent tried any other menthol cigs yet and because at times they hurt like a bitch when you inhale

I started out smoking parliament lights, and smoked about six or seven cigarettes before I fell in love with them, but ever since then, I have been a loyal newport smoker. Anyone who rated newports anything below a four, hasn't smoked more than one or two newports. Smoke a pack, and you'll never go back.
