I bought one. Does that tell you anything? He now resides on the top of the fridge with my mother's bobble head Taco Bell dog - which I inherited. Apparently this kind of thing is genetic.

One of the PE coaches would imitate the Doughboy, and it was scary. :D

I always loved his little giggle when someone poked his belly. I even had a Pillsbury Doughboy doll when I was very little -- he was one of my favorite toys back then. Too bad I don't have him anymore....

I really detest this campaign. I understand its success, but as someone who has worked in the ad industry, it baffles me. "Poppin' Fresh" gets progressively irritating with each repeated viewing.

my father in law would get such a kick out of him when the commercials would come on. he always made him laugh. personally i don't find him that funny but hes a lovable character.

Poppin' Fresh really is such a refreshing change from the often idiotic commercial gimmecks. It really is nice to see the wholesome, often humorous nature portrayed in these commercials. The Doughboy works well too, I always but Pillbury!

Got to give him an almost five. I remember seeing him when I was a child. A sweet little dough boy. who giggled when poked in the belly. wow! he would be about 40 now and still going.Pretty good for a commercial character.

Reprinted from the Florida Herald obituary, June 1998. Veteran Pillsbury spokesman Pop N. Fresh died yesterday of a severe yeast infection. He was 71. Known to friends as Brown-n-Serve, Fresh was an avid gardener and tennis player. Fresh was buried in one of the largest funeral ceremonies in recent years. Dozens of celebrities turned out including Mrs. Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Aunt Jemima, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and Skippy. The grave side was piled high with flours as longtime friend Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy describing Fresh as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Fresh rose quickly in show business but later his life was filled with many turnovers. He was not considered a smart cookie in business, wasting much of his dough on half baked schemes conned by those who buttered him up. Still, even as a crusty old man, he was a roll model for millions. Fresh is survived by his second wife. They have two children and another bun in the oven. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
