 | KittysickRIA (51) 05/02/2008 | Dr Laura stands up for sisterhood on the View by implying that it's actually the fault of Elliot Spitzer's wife that Spitzer cheated on her with prostitutes. Yeah, Silda Spitzer should let an 80-year-old man take nude photos of her. LOL. I'd rather take martial advice from Jerry Springer than this shrill right-wing quack.

 | kira0608 (0) 08/21/2003 | Dear Dr. Laura:
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I
have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that
knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend
the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that
Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other
specific laws and how to follow them.
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a
pleasing smell for the Lord - Leviticus 1:9. The problem is my
neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite
them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in
Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what to you think would be a fair
price for her?
3. I know that I am not allowed to have contact with a woman while she
is in her period of menstrual cleanliness - Leviticus 15:19-24. The
problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take
offense.
4. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male
and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A
friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians.
Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Ex odus
35:2 clearly states she should be put to death. Am I morally obligated
to kill her myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an
abomination - Leviticus 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than
homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
7. Leviticus 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I
have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading
glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room
here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair cut, including the hair
around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by the
bible, in Leviticus 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Leviticus 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig
makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Leviticus 19:19 by planting two
different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments
made of two different kinds of thread (cotton and polyester blend). He
also tends to curse a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the
trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Leviticus
24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family
affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? Leviticus
20:14
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you
can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal
and unchanging.

 | cancangirl (0) 08/13/2003 | I have a story to tell about this woman. A friend that I haven't spoken to in a few years called. We started talking. She told me that she quit work and now stays home with her two children. I am a single working mother, never married (By the way, I was in my late thirties when I had my baby-my birth control I used with my then boyfriend did not work.) When my "friend" found out that I had a child without being married, she began to pass judgement on me. She then said "Well, I listen to Dr. Laura and Dr. Laura says...." She went on and on about Dr. Laura and her moral honor. I said to my former friend, "Do you know Dr. Laura's background? How can someone do all the things she preaches against and then have the audacity to condemn others?" My friend said, "she is just trying to teach the right thing. She has a right to move on, forget her past and help others do right."
She also went on to say that she is no longer a Democrat and is a staunch Republican because of "Laura". My former friend went on to put down immigrants that flood our country, the liberals that spend our money, etc. I proceeded to tell her that I wish her well.
My point: My former friend had many sexual exploits when she was in college. She told me that one morning, she woke up with a guy's ---- in her mouth. She has been with MANY men. I on the other hand have been very careful and never slept around. This was just my personal preference which I didn't preach or tell anyone. I am proud to say I have been with only long-term boyfriends of which there have been three in my life. The fact that I got pregnant and chose NOT to marry my boyfriend seems to topple me from morality when the only difference between Laura's moral majority cult and me is that my birth control didn't work. That's what Laura does. She gathers the lost and makes them whole again, only it is completely hypocritical. My former friend is the result of Laura's pathetic, moral preachings. Forget your past, no matter what you have done, and put down others who are doing it now. It's that simple.

 | CastleBee (85) 12/18/2002 | Her talk show’s obvious premise is to strongly defend the conservative idea of basic decency. I have to give her some credit for the guts to go against the politically correct moral mush mentality of our times. Still, she almost always turns right around and blows it with her offensive more-often-than-not bitchy attitude toward the caller. By doing this most of the time she isn't just preaching to the choir - she's screaming at them and she's doing it as loudly as she screeches at the people who disagree with her completely. The big question is, if she did calm down and take a softer tone - would ANYONE listen? My guess is it would pretty much kill her quasi shock jock approach. After all, people tune in because they WANT to hear her humiliate her callers. It sometimes makes you wonder why people actually continue to call.

 | Errol (5) 03/08/2002 | What bothers me about Dr. Laura is that she comes across as judgmental and condescending with so many of her callers. If people have enough respect for her that they are calling to ask her advice, it seems that she could at least show some mutual respect for them. Talking down to people is not a good way to persuade them. But as far as the core values she promotes she's pretty much on track. Many people don't seem to realize when their problems are self-inflicted. They want the freedom to do what they want but don't want to face the consequences of their actions. Dr. Laura points these things out to them. She also seems objective, not automatically siding with women every time the way feminists do. If only she'd soften up on that harsh tone!

 | Cynical Sam (0) 02/20/2002 | Shrill, vicious, condescending, and arrogant. This woman continues to defraud the public by calling herself "Doctor" Laura, leading people to believe she is a psychologist or psychiatrist when in fact she has a doctorate in physiology. She also posed in the nude during the 1970's for a man with whom she was having an adulterous affair. It should come as no surprise that many of her staunchest supporters are right wing hypocrites like "Rightwinger" who have the nerve to call themselves Christians. If you ever wanted proof that there's an American Taliban filled with intolerant religious bigots one need look no further than this worthless excuse for a human being.

Turkey neck rants against working mothers, but how many hours does she devote to her radio show, book writings and tours, flopped TV show, etc. Shouldn't she be home taking care of little Derek. She also talks of family closeness, yet doesn't speak to her mother or sisters.

 | Rusty (0) 06/02/2001 | This woman is self-righteous, overbearing, arrogant, and hyper-strident in her views! Lest we forget, this is the same woman who posed topless in the 1970s and didn't become an Orthodox Jew until as recent as 1998. (Atoning for past indiscretions, no?) Her intolerance of homosexuality and her put-downs of young women who call her show looking for empathy and support are abusive. Good doctor, heal thyself. She is no role model for a society that claims to have everyone's best interests at heart. I wonder if she and Rush Limbaugh exchange e-mail every so often? | maryef (0) 02/26/2001 | Laura Schlessinger is a sad, angry, emotionally troubled woman. I think she harbors a lot of guilt and bitterness against both her parents and others who have hurt or betrayed her through the years. I have listened to her radio program many times, I watched her show, I've seen her in various T.V. appearances, I've read many interviews of her. She always seems angry, uneasy, and uncomfortable. She makes many mistakes in her information, often passes off opinion as fact, and is completely unable to accept even the mildest critical response to anything she does or says. Radio suits her problems very well, for she can vent at an anonymous voice without having to see the damage that she does. I wonder: can that many of her callers verify that she actually helped them with the problem they called about? I have discovered that using insults, degrading comments, ugly, hateful remarks rarely results in someone changing to please me. More often, those things result in hurt feelings, anger, or a decision to ignore what I am saying. I suspect it works pretty much the same way for the more illustrious Laura Schlessinger. She just doesn't care much for the human race. .....More chillingly, does she talk to her son the same way she does her listeners?

 | Perspective (0) 02/06/2001 | As a Mental Health Professional, I object to therapy as entertainment. The blending of the two will always result in undesireable side effects. I seriously doubt that many of her callers will make significant, lasting changes just because she has given them a verbal "slap upside the head." At the same time, I shudder to think of how many needy people may avoid seeking professional help because they are afraid of getting treated the way she treats her callers. On the other hand, someone needs to speak up for morality and traditional values. She is doing it, and being brutally lambasted for being so politically incorrect. Incredibly, people whose current state of societal acceptance is due to freedom of speech in previous years, now want to deny Schlessinger that same freedom of speech! If you don't like her, don't listen to her. Those who exaggerate and misrepresent her position to try to call it hate speech are hypocrites.

Anyone who believes that Homosexuals cannot change should contact Exodus International. Jesus Christ came to give life and deliver people from sin. Homosexuality is as much a sin as anything else. | Shroomwoman (13) 11/06/2000 | I find Dr. Laura's personality and style to be extraordinarily annoying and obnoxious, but I must admit that I admire her commitment to children's issues. She is one of the few people to speak out against daycare (a taboo subject for most) and to promote the importance of keeping the family together. As a teacher, I know that she is on the right track with these issues, and I appreciate the fact that she is speaking publicly about them. I often have a very difficult time listening to her, though, because she can be extremely abrasive, cocky, and dorky. If I turn on her radio program, it's not unusual for me to turn it right back off because I can't stand listening to her. Dr. Laura definitely has a good message for people about children, but I bet she turns a lot of people off before they have a chance to absorb what she's saying.

Hmmmm, that was the day after her television show was cancelled in many cities, right?! Dr. Laura's way or NO WAY. According to Dr. Laura, It is NOT ok to be in a loving, trusting relationship with someone if they are of the same sex, but it is OK to have an adultress affair and have your lover take naked pictures of you. hmmm, Dr. Laura land is a pretty screwy place. she is a hyprocitical, judgmental, ignorant (yes, even doctors can be narrow minded, pious, ignorant fools..and she is the leader of the pack) FOOL! Have I ever listened to her radio show? Why of course I have! I need my ocassional dose of trash talk from time to time.
