I also remember this name being affixed to Marvelous Marv Throneberry the first year the Mets existed. Marv was "playing" first base in a spring training game and some guy hit a home run in a silo, about 500 feet in the air between first and home. Marv circled a few times under it but it hit him in the head and landed in fair territory, prompting Casey Stengel to ask, for the umpteenth time, "can anyone play this game? "

Ever see this guy field? I believe he only wore a glove because it is a tradition of the game. He didn't seem to know what to do with it.
