 | opalk (0) 07/02/2008 | I have 2 dogs and 2 cats. They have all been on Blue for over a year. I switched them from Nutro Ultra Holistic because I like the ingredients in Blue better. I have never had any of these gas and poop problems I am reading about. The most trouble I have had is with my bichon. She is only a year old and the lady I adopted her from was feeding her Puppy Chow or some garbage like that. So when I got her at 4 months she was having some serious tummy troubles and she was darn near hairless! I started her on Blue Puppy immediately...did not even bother to mix with the crap she was eating. Tummy troubles went away within about 48 hours and within a month her coat was full and fluffy! When they came out with the small breed formula I put her on that and she just doesn't like the taste. So, I am trying her on the canned and she loves it! Not a bit of problem with it. I also have a black lab mix and to be a mutt he is absolutely beautiful! His coat is nothing short of glossy, big white teeth and when he runs you can see all of his gorgeous muscles! These features have all greatly improved in the year and 1/2 he has been on Blue. He does get some funky gas every now and then but I think that is more from the way he wolfs down his food rather than the food itself as he has always let some doozies fly even before Blue. Lastly, another huge improvement I have seen is with my little black hillbilly cat I rescued a couple of years ago. When I brought her home she was skin and bones and had the roughest ugliest coat. Granted she was a stray trying to survive in the hills of Kentucky. She is still a little bitty thing but she has put on a healthy amount of weight and within 2 weeks her coat went from dull and coarse to glossy and just a silky as can be. I still look at other brands of food when I go to Petsmart and read the nutrition and ingredients as I am always looking for the best possible food and treats for my babies. I have yet to find anything that can measure up to what Blue offers!

 | hdbubbles (0) 06/27/2008 | I have four small dogs that have been on the adult meal for a year. My Yorkie developed loss of protien thru the kidney and after spending $450 at a specialist he advised to put all my dogs on senior food. He advised controlled feeding for weight loss and age and change to canned food. I never could get anyone at Blue Buffalo to return my calls regarding calorie count. I even joined the e-mail list and e-mailed the co. with details, got one reply and they acted like they didn't understand what I was requesting. They never returned anymore e-mails. None of my dogs except for one who will eat almost anything liked the canned food, in fact I had to finger feed them to eat a little. This went on now for a couple of months. Last week I bought two cases of canned food. There was something wrong with this batch as all my dogs got severely bloated with the runs and very sick. I will be returning the remainder of the cans to PetsMart. I also reported this to the FDA. Is this co. having a problem again. Will have to change, would like to keep my dogs alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 | runnerx (0) 06/22/2008 | update, i took back my bag of puppy food and got another one. and have NO problems with this bag. puppy has always loved this food. his coat is so shiny and healthy, and he has so much energy. i believe this is a truly top notch food.i have done so much research, and believe for the price this is a good pick. now if i could just stop him from chewing on everything in my house life would be good. maybe he was just sick for that week i got the other bag.

 | Diablo1 (0) 06/20/2008 | Just wanted to let you all know Blue Buffalo is very rich and will cause loose stools in some dogs. This can be remedied by adding a tablespoon or so (depending on size of dog) of canned pumpkin to his food. I have a 60lb Dobie pup (Diablo) and had the same issues and many of you. I give him a big heaping tbsp of it in his food twice a day and no more runny poo. This was recommended by both my vet and breeder. Also Basenjis I know this is good food but I wouldn't let my kids eat it :)

 | basenjis (0) 06/19/2008 | Been feeding it for almost 6 months now. Can't say enough good things about how happy I am and my dogs are. They have much more energy, their coat is shinnier and definitely noticing darker/richer coat color too. I am extremely please with Blue food. I have always feed premium grade dog food and was feeding Caniade for 10 years. Happy with Canidae but Blue makes the difference. Stools are nice and firm, the kids love the taste. Is for sure a 4 paws up!! Can't beat that you can find it at all Petsmart and most Petco! My kids are especially fond of the Fish/Sweet Potato formula. Highly Recommend!!

 | Brody2808 (0) 06/17/2008 | Blue Buffalo seems to be working really well for my 4 month old Coton de Tulear. The other foods we tried would give him horrible, smelly, oily poops but with Blue they have firmed up and he seems much happier. His white coat is shiny and gorgeous, and after switching to Blue the tear stains even have gotten better. THANK YOU to Blue Buffalo for providing a quality and affordable product!

 | cjh (0) 06/15/2008 | I was quite impressed by rave reviews. Now, my male, 15-month old, extremely healthy Rat Terrier who has never had any problems, has loose mushy movements and even had bad diarrhea after two weeks. He has also had gas numerous times, for the first time. It is so expensive, and he enjoys eating it...I have tried to see if he would improve but after three weeks, still loose movements. I am disappointed to say the least. I hate to change as I am giving it to my Golden Retriever, who also enjoys eating it. I will try one more week then must find something else as I doubt there will be improvement.

 | scoll (0) 05/27/2008 | My dogs have been on Blue for a bit over two months and they still have the runs. Also when we pick up after our dogs in the backyard (which is a weekly chore) poo leaves a dead spot on the grass. I can't think of any other changes to their diet.

 | claudiaann (0) 05/10/2008 | My dachshund Wiggle Belle started having skin problems about 4 years ago. (She's 10 1/2 now.) We have spent thousands...saw a vet/allergist (couldn't follow that routine of no chewies, no treats or reg. food, and bought every skin cream known to animals or humans. She had yeast infections under her legs, and would get patches where she would get a bump and her hair would fall out. At times she looked like a ratty old moth eaten fur coat. She drove herself crazy licking her feet and legs. We had her on 3 prescriptions 1 for yeast, one antibiotic, and one antihistimine. I saw an ad for Blue in a magazine. I bought some and oh my gosh. She is off all of her meds., and is not licking or having any skin problems. Her vet was amazed and told us not to stop giving it to her...she couldn't believe it. I give her the salmon dry food, and a spoonful of the different brands of canned instead of dog treats. We are all very happy. Thank you Blue...I only wished we had gotten her on it years ago.

 | hrhshow (0) 05/10/2008 | I THINK this food is a really good food, it rates 4 stars by www.dogfoodanalysis.com and is one of the "APPROVED" foods by the Whole Dog Journal. ALSO, It is a food that is available to the general public easier by the fact it is in pet food stores like PETSMART, making it accessible to more people. ALSO for this quality food the price is just right, you pay for what you get. Other top foods like INNOVA, CALIFORNIA NATURAL, WELLNESS, MERRICK and others are FAR more costly, yet available ONLY at exclusive pet boutiques, or via the internet.

 | jack5330 (0) 05/07/2008 | I have been feeding my dogs the Blue Buffalo brand for the past several years and although I believe it is a good feed for commerical dog food, the cost is high -- particularly for a non-organic product. Blue go Organic or lower your price!

 | wildcat777986 (0) 05/01/2008 | It seems that blue buffalo is indead a high quality food. But when my 4 month old wolf /husky mix puppy started eating it, he got horrible frequent gas and stopped eating almost alltogether. He also had lose stool alot. I started him back on eukanuba and as soon as I got it home he chowed down on it.I gave BB three weeks to work and I feel bad that I put him though all that feeling sick buisness. It's too bad it does have quality ingredients.

 | noahtigger (0) 04/22/2008 | I have a three yr old pug, who has terrible allergies. I have tried at least 6 different foods, 2 coming from the Vet. Nothing works on her, she is itcy, with red ears. Has had yeast in her ears, and skin rashes, even using prednisone, and otc suppliments. She has to stay away from Corn, wheat, and snacks, were pretty much out of it.
Along came Blue! We have been using it for one month. Abby is like a new dog! Her skin is pink again, the yeast is Gone! No more itchy skin! She is perky, and more active. It did take a couple of weeks for the digestive system to calm down, but like any diet change this is to be expected. I will NEVER buy her anything but Blue! I have reported this to our Vet, who cannot believe the change in her! He is now telling his allergy patients about Abby, and will stock it in his office.

 | PupLove (0) 04/14/2008 | I am trying to find out more information - Blue Buffalo was on the list of recalled dog foods in April 2007 because a product that contained melamine was "unknowingly added" to their final product. How was this dealt with? I am considering switching to Blue because of my aging Dane's nutrient need. I am currently feeding a similar high end product that was NOT on the list, but falls slightly short of Blue's protein content.

 | kfander (0) 03/31/2008 | There may be an equivalent to Blue Buffalo on the market but I haven't come across it. It's an excellent dog food, one that will give your dog every chance to live a long and healthy life. Of course, each dog is an individual and what may work for most will not necessarily work for all, so it may well be that your dog doesn't like it, or doesn't do well on it, but most dogs will do very well with Blue.

I will never again use any other brand of dog food for him. My family and I are moving to Guam and I will be having his food sent to us via mail as there are no retailers there that sell it. That is how much I love what Blue Buffalo does for my dog.

 | pjkr32 (0) 02/29/2008 | I switched my 6 month old Cockapoo to the dry puppy food from Purina Pro Plan about 4 weeks ago. The puppy seemed fine on the Pro Plan, but I went to the pet store and the Buffalo Blue sales rep was pushing her product along with the rep from Nutro. I have not tried Nutro, but probable wont. The lady sales rep said she too had a Cockapoo and hers did great on this and her dog has no shedding, which I know that Cockapoos are suppose to almost shed free. She went, on about how now she has doesnt even have to vacuum. Of course I thought well she is nice and maybe a little over zealous, no doubt the vacuum cleaner story may be slightly embellished about not needing to vacuum. I sad what the heck I will give it a try. I can say that the little shedding my puppy was having is gone. Also his eyes look so much better with no staining on the eyes. I also went to using the health bars for a treat too. I have to say she was not embellishing the story one bit.
From what I heard on similar web review sites, be careful how much creed you take in these forums. Other dog food company marketing managers try to bash a brand to discredit it. So just keep trying quality brand until you find one that you and your dog likes

 | alissas3 (0) 02/28/2008 | I switched my Chihuahuas from Eukanuba to BB Small Bread a month ago. They pick out the brown bits and will not eat the blue ones unless I leave them in there for the next time they eat. OTherwise they love it. I like the fact that the food doesnt stink up the room even the wet is pretty much odor free. Both are not wet food lovers but I thought I would try some and they like it ok. I like the fact that the wet food has real whole veggies that you can see. My girl seems to poop more regularly after being placed on this. I highly recommend this product.

 | FurMom (0) 02/21/2008 | Please keep in mind that not every food is going to work for every animal. Just like some people can hop on a plane and go to Mexico and be just fine, where others spend 3 days in the bathroom. Every animal's system is different. Adjustment periods vary from animal to animal.
I have 4 cats (ranging in ages from 11 to 20) and all of them LOVE the BB Spa Select food. I also have a 5 year old Siberian Husky who is PICKY but eats BB no problem.
It's a matter of finding what works best for the animal. Just like a vegetarian diet might not work for some people, where as others do great on it.
Find what works and don't bash others for what works for them

 | adreamgenie (0) 02/18/2008 | I have two dogs that I feed Blue Wilderness formula. This is an excellent product with a 6 star rating. As with any change in diet, one must introduce the new food slowly in order to prevent digestive problems. This is a high protein formula without all the bad stuff that will slowly suck the life out of your pet. My dogs are extremely healthy, strong and energetic. I attribute their excellent condition to this product. The only basis for criticism of this product is misinformation.

I encourage viewers to read with caution and acknowledge the
fact that malign and illegitimate viewpoints are expressed in this forum. I am
thankful for my freedom of speech, but it is a shame with some have to abuse it,
damn them. The truth is Blue is a sound, ethical and caring

I told him Blue buffalo was the best food of the market because it is the only dog food in the world that has a day to day vitamin incorparted into the food. He still wanted to try Eukanuba because of its name. My husband has a white pit bull and sure enough, the puppy stated having the tear staining and rash on its tummy from the chicken-by-products and dried beet pulp among other crap the put in there food. He quickly switched back to the Healthy Holistic best dog food in the world BLUE BUFFALO. Thank you Blue. Go to www.bluebuff.com to look at the ingredient panel. Braxton

 | jfortrobert (0) 01/30/2008 | Both of my Belgians are on BB Wilderness. Before, my younger four year old Malinois/Dasty, had a couple small lumps on her side while she was on Science Diet and her skin was always flaking. Since being on BB Wilderness for four months, the Vet today could not find any lumps and her skin was not dry. While Dasty was in the hands of the U.S. Government as a working dog, she had skin problems and was treated for Lime. Today's stool, heartworm, and blood tests showed Dasty to be free of Lime or any other problems with all tests showing negative results.
My other Beligan/Major is a Teurevan and is eight years old. I switched him to BB Wilderness and he is more active and has more endurance for long walks. The old food he was on was the CostCo Brand Dog Food. Not to mention Major's coat is much softer and he is as busy as he was when he was a four year old.
The switch over to BB Wilderness took about a month and I did not have any trouble with loose stools. Dasty gets four cups a day and Major gets 2.5 - 3 cups, only because he's not a working dog and does not get walked as much. Dasty weighs in at 64lbs and Major is 60. I am sold on a high protein & low carb diet for my active dogs and BB Wilderness works for them.

 | BulletsMom (0) 01/29/2008 | I truly do not know where you people get your information from, but Blue Buffalo is a family owned company and is not affiliated with Purina or any other company for that matter.
Honestly, it's disturbing to see how people just blindly believe everything they read on the Internet without first verfying the information.
And, may I add, that my dog is doing just GREAT on Blue Buffalo. He actually had the runs when we first brought him home (we adopted him from a rescue organization and he was being fed Authority at the place he was kenneled at) but since we put him on Blue Buffalo the runs cleared up in just 3 days!
So, all you Blue Buffalo haters, get your facts straight!
And just for the record... I am just a DOG OWNER and in no way affiliated with Blue Buffalo or any other dog food or pet product company .

 | Anissa31 (0) 12/27/2007 | I can't say enough good about Blue Puppy food. I bought a pomeranian that became very sick, lost a lot of her fur, and had some terrible skin rashes. She couldn't stop throwing up and having diarrhea. 6 weeks on Blue puppy food and her skin is clearing up, her fur has come back in (shinier and healthier looking than ever) and all the other problems she has had is gone! I have to drive out of town to buy this food, but it is worth every mile! Don't give up if you buy the food and your dog won't eat it. Mix some of the food it is used to with Blue at first. It only took 2 days of doing this with my puppy, then she was happily eating just the Blue puppy food on the 3rd day. I buy the dry, because it is much better for their teeth.

We took a trip to Petsmart to have a picture with Santa, and while I was there, I asked an associate about my dog's problem.
He showed me all of the foods they had, and told me the pros and cons of each one. I liked the honesty that he had.
He told me that Blue Buffalo was his favorite, so I bought it.

 | ThePants (0) 11/29/2007 | I have a 9 month old Miniature Schnauzer who seems to have developed allergies over the past few months. He was just constantly chewing at himself. We kept trying different things that we thought might help (for example: changing his shampoo) but nothing seemed to help. I was worried that we would end up having to go to the vet and get allergy shots for him on a regular basis. Then one night I was sitting in bed reading a magazine and I came across an add for Blue. It was a dog on the page with a word bubble that said "Mom, my skin itches. Is there wheat in my food?". I was bit surprised when I read it. I never heard of a dog having allergies to wheat. We were already feeding him a high quality food with no by-products, but I never would have thought about wheat or gluten being a culprit for his skin itching. Over the past month we have been slowly converting his food and treats to Blue and his skin has been getting better and better. He is almost completely converted now and I barely ever see him chewing at himself anymore. He has lots of energy and seems to really enjoy the food.
Note to some people who had stool problems: When we fist started to convert him, he did have a bit of diarrhea. We slowed down the conversion a bit more and now he is doing fine. His total conversion is going to be about 6 weeks. (no diarrhea with this slow of a conversion process).

Do we know everything of what the changes were? Did you list them, prove them, and then submit them to the public? Give us those details, and the safeguards that are in place. Don't just sell us your products as if nothing happened! I want truth and facts only! Do you get every ingredient, chemical, and additive from US domestic suppliers? I up'd my rating to bad today from terrible. Give me reasons to use your dog food AGAIN. Show the public the proof of your sincerity. I need that before I feed it to my dogs! You need to do this for the animals -- not just the ratings!!! Convince us that it will ALWAYS be safe! Do this PUBLICLY under scrutiny if you are serious about the pets in America... I'm still angry that you were even on that recall!

 | MikieLovesIt (0) 11/25/2007 | Many if not MOST of the reviews on this site are done by people that:
1. work for other pet food companies!
2. Never even tried the foods and rate it anyway just to bring the scores down on foods they don't use.
Both of which make this site totally worthless. I know this because a Nutro sales rep told me she tried the Blue Buffalo Wilderness formula 4 months ago and her dogs would not eat it... Funny thing is the Store staff told me the Wilderness formula has only been on the market for just over 2 months.... So I called Blue Buffalo and asked them, guess what The Nutro Rep LIED! So do not believe too much on this site! FYI both of my dogs love the blue foods and have been doing great on them and The Wilderness formula is awesome check it out only one grain and it is oatmeal and it has probiotics. Sweet!

 | JRTnipster (0) 11/18/2007 | My 14 week old JRT was fed IAMS until I researched dog foods and desided to feed her better food. She had loose stools that turned watery, which I thought was a symptom from her vaccinations. I started her on the Puppy Protection Formula and after 2 days her stools seemed healthy. She eats less and I noticed that other potential health issues have diminished.

 | Som (0) 11/17/2007 | My eleven year old German Shepherd has been on Blue for over 3 years. We had to stop because of the recall and switched to another brand, she began terrible scratching and her coat was no longer shiney and she was loosing clumps of hair. Once Blue was back on the shelves she was switched back on and now she is no longer scratching and her coat soft and glossy again. She loves the Salmon/potato recipe. We also rescued two kittens that have been on the Spa kitten and their coats are soft and glossy. All of them have good solid stools.

 | abbyj (0) 11/16/2007 | The ingredients looked good, but my dog didn't do well on it. My dog was defecating about 3 times more than normal (both amount and frequency of defecation increased while on this food), and the stools weren't very solid.

 | Emsanon (0) 11/14/2007 | Was using Pedigree which was working great but then switched to Blue because we thought it would be better for them. Ever since we've switched they've had uncontrollable runs! It's been everywhere. It's back to Pedigree for us! :)

 | GaryYale (0) 11/09/2007 | I have a 3 1/2 month old rottweiler, which has been on Blue large breed puppy chow for the last 30 days. He has increadable energy and looks great. His coat is to die for. In every way this puppy has done very well on the Blue chow. In a 30 day period he went from 22 pounds to 37 pounds and there is no fat on this guy. I make sure that this puppy gets the needed exercise to support this growth. My vet even remarked on how well this puppy is developing. He loves the taste of the food and cleans his plate 3 times a day. However his stools are soft and he has just today had his first bout of diarrhea. From time to time he has also had gas problems. My plan at this point is to contact Blue to find out if there is something that can be done. I like the overall results from blue but I cannot tolerate the resulting problems. Perhaps it is simply that Blue is not for my dog. If this turns out to be the case then I need to search for a replacement ASAP. I am open to any and all recommendations which I can do research on.

 | BlessedBeSiamese (5) 11/01/2007 | On the one hand I am very glad that Pet Supplies Plus has finally decided to listen to me and all my clients letters by at least attempting to carry some good foods, but the Blue Buffalo falls short of the foods I asked them to carry, such as Chicken Soup and Merrick as well as Healthwise and Innova, upon asking them why they chose to carry only mainstream crap, they said that that is what they are limited to based on what the customers buy most often, I told them if they would do their part in trying t |
