Every decade seems to have its dominant team. The first decade of the 21st century has the Pats. As baseball's Atlanta Braves of the 1990's and football's Buffalo Bills of the late 1980's and the Vikings in the 1970's have shown, you have to win the championship in order to be considered great. Usually it takes an appearance or two, in the championship game, to figure out how to ignore the hype and the non-stop talk, talk, talk and focus on winning, but the Pats came in and brought home the big trophy, 3 times now. You have to acknowledge Bellichek, he has established himself as one of those elite coaches who have won multiple championships.

The year is still young, but this has to be the sports story of the year so far. I wouln't consider some of the other things on this list as sports stories. More like illegal drug stories.

A sports story that does not involve, drugs, sex, steroids, scandal, strikes, season cancellations, wardrobe malfunctions, or even bling-bling. That's BS. You want ME to comment on a story where two teams played their hearts and cajones out in what might have been one of the 5 most exciting and one of the 5 best Super Bowls ever. But that's no story. ESPN told me so. [There was one observation I made. Are Chowderheads so jaded with their Red Sox that they are totally apathetic about the Pats? There were less Patriots fans in Jacksonville, than straight women at a Lilith Fair.]

I'm tired of the Patriots. They bore me immensely. The only good thing about them winning the Super Bowl was seeing the Eagles lose.

The game itself wasn't that noteworthy - the favored team won in a good but not exceptional game - but I'd have to agree with Minkey. By winning their third Super Bowl in four years, the Pats have established themselves as one of the best teams in the history of the sport.

*yawns* The Super Bowl? The biggest sports event I care nothing about. I enjoyed all of the World Championships and World Cup meets in such sports as Luge, Skiing, and Curling more than this.

The Patriots prove they have formed the the football dynasty of the 00's. 3 Super Bowl rings in 4 years, with a twenty-game win streak thrown in there to boot. With a young franchise quarterback, a superstar running back, and a very solid defense, they show no signs of slowing down.
