Great game, original concept and addictive. Makes you feel proud when you city grows beautifully. One lacking aspect: there is no end to the game, so, once you grow your city to the maximum area available, all you can do is start making some changes here and there, but there is no actual ending or final purpose.

Creating your city and buildings is fun, leveling the city with a natural disaster is even more fun.

While I'm sure not everyone enjoys the giddy thrills of optimizing the cities' sewage system for maximum efficiency or adjusting the parameters of residential zoning, the SimCity series can be a truly rewarding experience for those with patience. Alternatively you can just give up and unleash destructive natural disasters on your hapless metropolis. That's what's great about Maxis games though, plenty of scope for choice and customization and very rarely are there any rigid goals set for you to follow.

Whether you like it or not, the Sim games and its numerous spinoffs have become one of the most popular types of games. They vary in difficulty (there is a children's version called SimTown which is much too cute and fun), and the popular The Sims spinoff has many expansion packs which fans just snap up (I don't see the appeal, but apparently it's there). Even if you don't like one Sim game, there are so many different ones that it's possible that you might like another.
