Paul Newman is an unlikely Rocky Graziano and it's a credit to his acting ability that he was able to pull it off. The movie, based on the book by the same name chronicles Rocky's troubled life from his young boyhood to his stint in the army and prison and ultimately as a boxer, and his title winning fight with Tony Zale. Newman does a good job as Graziano, a streetfighter and thug with a heart of gold that finds success in the ring..

Rocky Graziano is a major reason why boxing is such a great sport. While he may tend to be a little overrated overall,he was a great personality and generally had a punchers chance against most of his opponents. Graziano's autobiography is great reading-and the movie features Paul Newman-as Rocky , in one of his better movies.
