The only problem here would be that due to the politics of boxing, Marvin Hagler would win the fight, but lose the decision.

I'd give this one to Hagler, although probably on a decision. Hopkins was a great ring tactician and survivor, and I suspect this would have gone the distance, with both fighters bloodied and unbowed.

Like a dream fight between Aaron Pryor and Henry Armstrong, a fight between 'Marvelous' Marvin Hagler and Bernard 'The Executioner' Hopkins would have been a fight simply too close to call. This fight would have been one of the greatest bouts ever had it happened. And as such, ringside judges would have had a difficult time judging this one. As much as Marvin Hagler was a relentless, blue-collar man of uncanny skill and tenacity, Bernard Hopkins would have matched the 'Marvelous One' with his dilligence and cunning. Both great-conditioned athletes, perhaps the only conceivable conclusion in a dream bout between these two greats would have been that both probably would still be standing at the end- with a greater respect for the other's abilities. But again, too close to call.

A pit bull beats a Doberman Pinscher every time. My money would be on Hagler. If ever there was a human version of a pit bull, it was him. I don't know if Hagler would knockout Hopkins considering that Hopkins is the ultimate survivor, but I believe he would have won. Too bad I can't prove it.

Even after his win over Oscar Dela Hoya and a record 19 succesful middleweight title defences,I am not totally sold on Bernard Hopkins. Obviously, his two biggest wins so far have been against great little guys-Oscar and Felix.I would've liked to see how he'd do against a natural middleweight like Hagler-who was past his peak when he fought Ray Leonard.
