Good matchup, but the Brown Bomber would KO Ali somewhere between the 6th and 8th Rounds. Ali took a lot of punches, but was able to survive against a slower Frazier. But Louis would quick punch Ali to death.

Tough call, but a good fight. I'd give it to Ali in a decision, provided he avoided an early knockout.

So, what happens when the greatest heavyweight champion of all-time (Joe Louis) meets the greatest heavyweight fighter of all-time (Muhammad Ali)? First of all, styles make fights, and as great as the Brown Bomber was, Ali feasted on stationary fighters who were not so much helpless as they were often frustrated by his quick movements and hand speed. On who had more power, Louis easily wins in this regard. HOWEVER, Ali could take a punch just as much as Louis could throw one in his prime. There is no way, however, this fight would have produced any knockouts. Both were too smart to fall prey to the other. But at worst (based on their styles), Muhammad Ali would have likely frustrated the great Joe Louis and won a majority decision.

Ali's speed and agility would win him this fight against the man he said boxed like a zombie and how anyone can disagree with that theory is beyond me. ALI KO 7

Would have been great, but Ali would have won in a big way!

If Joe Louis had problems with a 169-pound Billy Conn in their first fight,he could have serious problems dealing with a bigger, mobile Ali. But,with some fighters, a lot of movement doesn't make that much of a difference as Ali found out,for example with someone his size, like Ken Norton-not an outstanding heavyweight. Aside from normal adjustments that fighters routinely make with their opponents, Ali arguably was able to get away with bad habits that fighters generally don't get away with-unless they're heavyweights with a decent size (and speed)advantage like Ali had in many of his fights.Would Jimmy Ellis, for example-a 185 pounder-be able to fight for the heavyweight championship today? Their is also one other intangible-probably a bad habit in his fights with Joe Frazier-Ali's big mouth.Louis was bigger and a better puncher than Frazier and like Frazier,Ali's big mouth would probably motivate Louis.Unlike Frazier,Louis would probably have the homecourt advantage.
