08/18/2008 | More stars are needed to rate Pele. He was the best player and the games best ambassador. I was introduced to him at Fenway Park when Santos played against the Boston Beacons in the late 60's.My coach, who had played against him in international matches, introduced us to each other. We had a short, pleasant chat and he gave me some pointers on the nuances of the game. Four years later, we met again and he remembered my name, where I was from, and many small details that had slipped my mind. It was amazing. I even forgive him for making that crappy movie with Stallone.

12/18/2006 | Yes,Pele is the greatest.You can never be great unless you have won the greatest prize of all and that is the world cup.Pele has three,1958 as a 17 year old,1962 and the sensational 1970 when the Brazilians demolished Italy 4-1.None of the greats have anything close to that.

12/17/2005 | I had the priviledge to meet Pele in New York. There is this aura around this man. Pele is a living legend. No one can dare touch his record and accomplishment. Pele will live forever. I have Pele's autograph and I took a picture with him. I am elated !!!

What makes him an ever better player is when you hear of how close this genius actually came to never playing football which sounds unthinkable.Pele was born to a father whose own playing career barely earned a living and a mother who tried to discourage her son from following the same path in life. Pele, however says he was born for soccer just as Beethoven was born for music and as a child he would juggle melons and soft drink cans whenever deprived of a ball. In his whole career he was never sent off while playing abroad and he became the youngest ever World Cup Winner at only 17 . As he matured , his tempestuous streak was quelled and his football took over. He played over an astonishing 1000 games and averaged a goal a game! With the experience of 4 World Cup's behind him, he has became the world's leading ambassador, promoting his beautiful game around the world , expecially amongst the poor and underprivileged from whose ranks he emerged.
